/tv/ is really shit tonight. Let's try to have a good thread. Discuss whatever you want to discuss.

>>62898864
thank you based jews
their plan of trying to force a child friendly actor who is also sexually arousing into the A list to turn gay as many male kids as possible really worked
>>62898774
I hate George Lucas
Choose which order you'd cum in their pussies.
>>62898836
Is there even a patric community on /tv/ anymore? It's still acknowledged that fedoracore, capeshit and genre films are trash but it's the only thing that gets discussed. I'm pretty sure /pol/ posting is the death of this board, never before in /tv/ history have I been so sure that the people derailing threads aren't even interested in film or television
>>62898836
remember when there were threads about movie recommendations and film discussions because nothing on television was worthwhile?
>/tv/ is shit
>hey! i've got it, why don't I make another shit thread to add to the list!
Kill yourself.
>>62898898
>shorter than a jap
no wonder he killed himself
>>62898967
remember the end of L O S T? good shit
Although this thread will be deleted because mod is a fag, I salute OP for his bravery and those who have accompanied this thread.
>>62898836
>shitpost about Star Wars and/or capeshit
>>62898947
3, 2, 5, 4, 1
>>62898983
kurosawa was 6'0", taller than mifune and like 95% of the non-internet population

So John Ford truly is the GOAT American filmmaker right? I keep waiting for the day when i watch one of his films and don't love it more than the last time.
>>62898801
Jean Renoir for fully human characters
Antonioni for location photography and mood
Kobayashi for honor
Eisenstein for visual language
Tarkovsky for visual poetry
Chaplin for laughs
Demy for colorful fun
Tarr for no color and no fun
Hou Hsiou Hsien for a cinephiles expression of love for the art from
Pasolini for ribald humor and painterly sensibilities
10 hottest in the here and now
1) Biel
2) Winstead
3) Kurylenko
4) Lively
5) Beckinsale
6) Patton
7) Seydoux
8) Saldana
9) Tang Wei
10) Arterton
>>62898955
Nope. The "authentic" posters of old have been replaced by agenda pushing /pol/ rejects who spam BLACKED threads due to some deep seated Freudian insecurity.
>>62898989
>Discussions about Danny Boyle movies and directors' commentary
>Discussions about Oldboy and vengeance trilogy
>Pan's Labyrinth
>Criterion collection recommendations
>Contained waifu threads that occasionally had posts about the television shows they're from
>Werner Herzog
None of this happened. There is only baneposting since the beginning of time.
>>62898955
Its not even /pol/ which is the worst part. Its retards from /v/ that know they can get replies
>>62898832
The two are not mutually exclusive.
>>62899103
you can still get the occasional criterion recommendation, etc, in letterboxd general threads.
jesus christ, i've been here since 2009 at least. what a nightmare
>>62899082
I disagree with you but respect your opinions
>>62898955
>>62899096
>>62899117
/tv/ has always been a shit hole but you used to be able to have discussions in the shit hole. Now crossposters just derail every thread just because they can
>>62898801
Lynch
Carruth
Bergman
Bunuel
Cronenberg
Tsukamoto
Hitchcock
Ford
Scorsese
Coen Bros.
That's my 100% honest list. Judge away.
>everyone wants to split /tv/
>they want celebrity gossip, waifuism and memes to stay in /tv/
>they are delusional enough to think their /film/ board will be full of Kurosawa, Bergman and black and white silent film threads and not capeshit and star wars shitposting
>>62899199
good. treat yourself to a nice De Palma like Blow Out or something
How can America end conservative discrimination in Hollywood?
>>62899199
Where's the fucking Herzog, Tarkovsky or Chaplin?
Oh fucking please, before all the memers /tv/ was full of pedos
>>62899220
/film/ doesn't need to be 100% patrician 100% of the time. But with the current wave of shitposters there is no discussion of that kind of film that has any substance. It doesn't have to be that way. Just like at /lit/ ,/his/ or /mu/. Yes those boards have problems and shitposters and dumb memes but they at least tolerate real discussion threads and not just shit them up with SJW rants or dumb shit flinging.
>>62898774
what if i want to discuss star wars and paedophilia and interracial sex?
>>62899313
Do it on /b/ where anytihng goes
>>62899220
>>they are delusional enough to think their /film/ board will be full of Kurosawa, Bergman and black and white silent film threads
No one actually believes that but you insecure tele/v/ision posters
I'm a bit of a pleb fuck who hasn't seen many films, just watched Fight Club for the first time and it was very enjoyable. I predicted the twist fairly early but it was still good.
>>62899297

>>62899262
I love Herzog. Slipped my mind.
>>62899340
Try watching The Usual Suspects if you haven't seen it. Obviously don't read spoilers beforehand.
i've watched every notable film from the genres that i enjoy, and all tv shows too. i'm trying to get into other genres but i just can't. i wish there was more good fantasy in the world

not that anon but I hated that movie. The way it's plot was overly complicated was insufferable
>>62899504
it makes you long for a good Coen brothers plot. Miller's Crossing for instance. much more interesting
>>62899440
you can read those books that can't be translated to a visual medium like Slaughterhouse Five, House of Leaves, etc
>>62898774
I actually created this image for /b/ 3 or 4 years ago. I was a happy go lucky person making cute ms paint threads on 4chan with a beautiful gf and promising career path. My life turned to shit and every time I see one of the images I made that went viral and get used in other places now it reminds me of that happier time in my life and makes me feel like shit.
>>62899536
im sitting here laughing out loud because our lives are so similar, except i lost the promising life stuff within the last year. fuckin /b/.
>>62899536
You've bought happiness to thousands anon.
>>62899527
yes, I fucking love the Coens. This movie felt like it was trying too hard to become a cult classic with it's le ebin tweest
Been doing a rewatch of Hitchcock's stuff. Two points of interest:
1. Rebecca is fucking amazing. Not in the "good for the early period" way but actually great. Much better than I remember.
2. Notorious may be the best Hitchcock film next to Vertigo
so where is the red mars adaptation?
at this rate i might have to direct it
>>62898947
just KStew. We would get married and just travel the world fucking in different places.
>>62899536
>claiming an /sp/ meme for /b/

1 and 5.
>>62899596
Just listened to the whole trilogy on audiobook. Really good but I don't know if it would translate well to a film honestly.
>>62899664
there is definitely a way the first book can be made into a 2:30-3 hour epic
i would not wanna do the other 2 though, but there is a good trilogy there waiting to be made
Time & Life is the best episode of Mad Men. Prove me wrong. If you disagree post your FB and I will fight you IRL
>>62900028
I disagree. Lost Horizon and Person to Person were even better in that season. And I'm not even bringing in The Suitcase, Signal 30 and The Strategy.
>>62899536
I made OC once on /co/ after that shitty Ultimatum comic came out. I see people post it every now and then and it's humbling, in the worst way.
I'm a tranny who needs a bf but its hard to find one.

what is the best way to get rid of my insomnia? I've been taking ambien for several weeks now and while it works and I do think it's awesome when I stay up a bit and get a nice trip from it I don't want to be taking these forever.
I didn't take any last night because I wanted to see if I could sleep on my own but nope. I stayed awake the entire night. I've been awake since thursday morning at 7 15.
>>62900654
are you hot?
london?
is The IT Crowd worth watching?
>>62902607
Don't look at any screen if you want to sleep because your brain thinks any bright light is daylight
Sleep on your left side, that way your gastric juices stay in the biggest part of your stomach. When you sleep on your right side your cardias has to shut harder to prevent an overflow to your esophagus and you are also more likely to have reflux.
google sleep hygiene for more tips
>>62899199
>Carruth
Fuck yes
>>62902699
thanks for the info about sleeping on my left side. didn't know that. will definitely try that out.

/film/ needs to be spun off, no memes. There needs to be a place to actually discuss films. I'll post something and it will get fucking 3 replies and die. Meanwhile the latest fucking meme or /pol/ bait gets 300 posts.

I'm fully accepting the risks involved with this. My taste is shit, be warned.
In no particular order:
Coen Bros.
Michael Mann
Guillermo Del Toro
Quentin Tarantino (fuck off)
Edgar Wright
Wes Anderson (again, fuck off)
Mel Brooks
Richard Linklater
Guy Ritchie
Sam Raimi
How pleb-tier is my taste?

>>62904040
ultra pleb. have you tried going back and watching older movies? there's a lot of great stuff. your list reminds me of my own when I was like 18.
>>62899600
this desu
>>62904074
>tfw I am 18
It fucking shows, doesn't it?
I've been meaning to start watching older movies. I want to be a filmmaker, and my current filmic diet isn't gonna produce anything worth watching.
>>62904118
>I want to be a filmmaker
So do I. But I'm destined to be a fucking NEET shitposting on a Taiwanese ice sculpting BBS for the rest of my life.
Here's a good start: http://www.250films.net/
>>62898947
Why is k stew the only pretty one in that whole group?
>>62904161
Thanks, that could be really useful.
I hate knowing that the other friends I have with the same dream are gonna make it farther than I do because of my unwillingness to accept any form of change. I'm trapped in a circle. Days are the same, weeks are the same, months are the same, and it's like a ton of circles within circles.
I'm only obsessed with film because it's the greatest form of escape: you can spark imagination in young minds, you can create complex new worlds you can show people what's been going on in your mind all this time.
It's three AM and I'm a little delusional. Again, thanks for the help.
>>62904277
We are literally exactly the same.
>>62904360
Glad to know there's more like me out there.
