People always tout Emmerich as a blockbuster pro, but I feel like he's one more underperformance away from being put out to pasture. Also television is having a bit of a renaissance right now and I feel like someone will crack a decent Stargate pitch soon. If Star Trek can get another show, so can Stargate.

IIRC during the blowback from SGU, the writers got butthurt and started attacking fans who criticized their decision to rip off BSG's grimdark character drama aesthetic.
Anyway that show was garbage and I'm glad it got cancelled.
