I didn't think it was awful but I really don't see why the fans so vociferously defend it like it wasn't a big dumb summer blockbuster like the rest of them.

That movie was breddy gud though, as is the TV show.
>>

Visually superior to most others in a variety of ways. Only negative is minimum screen time of other jaegers and night time battles.

What quintin Tarantino doing in there?

It flopped. The generic viewer didn't like it.

Minority Report is actually very good.

Its because it was the first (and likely last) big-budget /m/echa movie by hollywood that delivered exactly what it promised: no poop jokes, no victoria's secret supermodels, no US army wanking. Just robots punching monsters lovingly filmed by someone who's clearly a fan of the genre.

Of course I don't expect it to appeal to everyone since its target demographic is extremely niche, even within anime circles.

It's a psychological thing - they probably went to go see it in Imax and spent a lot of money so now they have to try and rationally defend a stupid choice to make it look not stupid

that's hilarious
>>
>>62885641
We're marginally superior to /a/
Our brand of shit is still less smelly than /mu/'s fwiw.
/tg/ is a sad husk

tbqh /ck/ and a few of the outdoorsy boards are the only "good" boards
/k/ is better at /his/ than /his/ too, albeit in a very niche way.

That said, on those rare occasions I find a good "intelligent" thread on /tv/, it puts most other boards to shame. This really can at times be the best community for film/movie/flick discussion on the net, the rest of the time it's fucking hilarious.
Probably has to do with the fact that movies influence so much of our lives (pop culture, etc.) and people are mostly willing to talk about a wide range of interests here.

I liked the atmosphere, but Enemy is vastly superior to both it and Sicario.

Villeneuve's biggest strength is in his ability to create a strong atmosphere to support his movie.
>>
>>62886775
Haven't seen Enemy nor Sicario.
I read Saramago's book though, what does Enemy have in common with Prisoners?
>>
>>62880038
It's one of those films that you had to see in cinema. If you didn't then you didn't really see the film.

Jake.
Same director.
It's a pretty loose interpretation of the source, but I think it's very fitting.

It's because 70% of /tv/ is normalshitters with no taste pretending to have one and the other 30% are lifeless shitposters who copy people's arguments and engage in countless proxy wars about X or Y. And you all fall for it and think you're superior to the rest of the boards.
Not to mention meme-wise you guys are as cancer as fucking /s4s/.

It's not a very good film and it had many moments I really hated. I still love it though.

I will forever be butthurt Cherno Alpha died like a bitch. I read his promotional material, he had tesla fists and flamethrower shoulders. Why the fuck didn't he use them? He should've atleast killed leatherback, bearhug and zap that bitch while frying his face.

Not him but casting was ok. Not shit, but not good either, mainly unknown people which is good for the mecha genre, that's how it's always been. Their acting was slightly lackluster.
The plot was as average as your regular mecha plot, nothing deep or complicated at all, and it avoided dealing with complex science just like every mecha movie has ever done.
The monster designs were also lacking but the robot designs were good. It's a shame they were never fully used other than the protag's machine, they just looked cool and then got beaten to a pulp.
The soundtrack was a complete mess.
The real problem was the pacing. The pacing was shit. The first 3/4 of the movie go by really fast and then the last quarter wraps up all the plolt threads way too fast and simple.

It just felt like Del Toro wanted to make a movie about robots and he went and did it. General public didn't like it because it's not flashy and generic as the rest, obscurefags didn't like it because it doesn't wank their sadness/creepyboner, 2deep4u people didn't like it because it didn't try to be artsy, and even mechafags didn't like it because it was lacking what makes mecha great.
Straight up saying it's shit and that the general public would like is /tv/ for "I don't like it, therefore everyone probably liked it bcuz they're dumb and I'm smurter than em".
