I'd watch.

Only played a little bit of Fallout 3, and never played 4, but it seems like a fascinating franchise to me.

A Boy and His Dog is basically Fallout. You really don't need an actual Fallout movie, it would be dogshit.

>first movie takes place entirely in a vault as the protagonist tries to make sense of his strange surroundings that tare created as part of vault-tecs experiment

>third movie features our hero getting caught up in a war between the brotherhood of steel and the super mutants after it is discovered that the super mutants have found an incredibly powerful(for the fallout universe) computer claiming to be a backed up earlier version of The Master.

The fucking original games confirmed that factions like The Brotherhood of Steel and the Enclave had a presence that spanned to different parts of the United States.

Fucking Fallout Tactics is based around a chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel operating in post-apocalyptic Chicago.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that these opinions aren't coming from fans of the old games that are genuinely disappointed in the new games.

Here's the thing with videogames. They're designed for teenagers and made intentionally to be massive time sinks. If you're a productive member of society, you don't have the time for it.

If you're an overgrown kid like most 4chinners, you make the time for it at the expense of important things like a gf and full time job.

And what do you get out of spending 100 hours playing a game?

Infantile social commentary designed to be thought provoking for a sophomore in high school, through the lens of terrible voice acting?

The skinner box appeal of getting rewarded?

The power fantasy of being a digital badass?

It's pathetic. You're pathetic.

The game could have spent more time talking about how the Legion had wiped out all of the raiders and had virtually ended genetic disease and drug use.

I played a few of the Legion overhaul mods and they were incredible.

F04 so far is total sandbox and I love it. The settlement building is awesome (even though it needs a lot of work) and the crafting system is finally done in a way that is truly beneficial to use.

Combat is kind of weak so far but I'm only like level 11

But as an RPG it's incredibly awful, shallow, and dumbed-down beyond recognition. The amount of mechanics and features they removed or simplified for kids is absurd. I swear it's like Bethesda specifically designed the game to be playable by the mentally handicapped. There's no choice or branching, every quest is literally "Go here and kill the raiders/ghouls/mutants" and there are no alternate solutions. The dialog wheel is the worst thing I've ever seen to, it's terrible in every way possible. Hell, no matter what dialog option you pick, the NPC's response is always the same thing.

I don't want to just explore and shoot mindlessly, I want good quests, lots of options, variety, and the ability to actually role-play.

lol k

What I said about quests is completely fucking true. So far every quest has literally just been sending me to clear out raiders from locations. If this was New Vegas, I'd at least get a diplomatic solution, but no. The only way to complete it is to kill them.
And I still can't get over how bad the dialog wheel is, it has no reason to be the way it is, it's a direct downgrade of the original in every way. What's worse is that even speech checks are worse too. Instead of skill checks for different SPECIAL, skills, and PERKS, every check is just for Charisma. So now I have a character with 10 Intelligence, and I don't even get any unique dialog options for being smart.
>>
>>62875674
Oh, and in past games perks like Lady Killer gave you an additional unique dialog option as an alternate solution to a quest or reward, but in 4, all it does is increase the chance to pass the Charisma speech checks when talking to women.
The game is so fucking lazy. They've dumbed it down and streamlined it beyond anything I ever thought possible. At this rate, I completely expect Bethesda to remove SPECIAL entirely when making Fallout 5

A series of seasons of 30-minute animated episodes based on the Fallout Universe. Perhaps a 30-episode season dedicated to the telling of a single game's plot. Fallout and especially Fallout: New Vegas are the prime candidates for direct adaptations, and beyond that there's no reason that a season couldn't tell a story outside of those already seen in the games.

The animation would be high-quality and detailed, with a visual-style reminiscent of something inspired by comic-books or anime. Lots of visual flair to things like motion and character-appearances to make each frame something worth looking at. Maybe invite some established Japanese animation-directors or animation-teams to give the series a distinctive look. Overall, something reminiscent of HBO's Spawn cartoon.

The violence would be graphic and realistic, much like the games that inspired it. Maybe even super slow-mo shots of things like heads exploding or limbs being severed, both to add visual panache and style, as well as to be reminiscent of the VATS sequences from the most recent games. However, none of the adult-content should be exaggerated (for shock-value) or toned-down (for mass-appeal) too far from the mood of the games, since the games struck a nice balance of pulpy maturity without turning into edge-lord bait.

Each episode would end with a minute-or-so-long Vault-Tech animated instructional-video featuring Vault-Boy, maintaining that edge of ironic or satirical humor that the games are known for. The topic of each Vault-Tech instructional-video that ended an episode would be a vague hint about the content of the next episode (i.e. if the next episode features the protagonist meeting a partner he's sexually interested in, the proceeding episode ends with a video on the topic of procreation in the post-nuclear world, warning about the effects of residual radiation on parents and how it can lead to mutant children, things like that).

Motherfucking Ron Perlman as the narrator.

I worded this poorly, let me try again.
Fallout 3 sold a little bit more retail, but that number of sales is almost all of it since it was GFWL and didn't get a Steam release until years later.
New Vegas's sales are just below 3's in retail, but it released on Steam instead of GFWL, and a HUGE bulk of it's sales were from Steam. And although Steam doesn't release the exact information, it tracks how many people played it.
New Vegas retail + Steam sales was almost definitely more than Fallout 3's total sales.

>in NV you literally follow a fucking railroad up the map at times

New Vegas is a lot better game, but continuously repeating the same fucking walk-a-thon every time you play it is really tiring. Because of this, every single extra ruin/town in the game feels out of place, because it isn't on the "beaten path" of fucking mediocracy that is the first half of the game. Hell, one of the reasons the DLC is so great is because it doesn't shove your mindset into the box of "chase down the person who tried and kill you!", the reason every time I play the game, I just eventually drop the playthrough.
>>
>>62876002
You don't have to be an anarchist to go with the Yes Man option. You can make arrangements so that upgraded securitrons are able to maintain order and also by making alliances with several smaller factions Nevada is still managed, just on a smaller scale and independent of big powers.

The Followers of the Apocalypse working with the cooperation of local authority's such as the King's in Freeside and with the locals from the individual towns surrounding the strip is probably the best outcome. The NCR would end up taking more than they'd give and the Legion would brutally subjugate them. Also House is probably too smart for his own good.

That's you're call though. You can easily go through the hidden pass, skirt around black mountain, and have a good chance to making it to new vegas without seeing anything tougher than a few bark scorpions as soon as you leave good springs.

Also Dead Money and especially old world blues are railroad as fuck.

Dead Money is railroad, but, like I said, at least you aren't actually following a railroad.

Lonesome Road does have the same problem as the base game, but it is more interesting than fighting the occasional raider/ghoul/radscorpion the whole way up. I don't know how you think OWB is a railroad desu. Unless you are talking about plot, which Lonesome Road pretty much is too.

>>
>>62876415

It's a pity the world in F4 was nothing like that - no sense of scale at all, but just some tired old slightly elevated hills with bad textures and a city unimaginatively mushed together by boxe models and the occasional house/building model, feeling far smaller than Skyrim, GTA V and Witcher 3. Then the features that look impressive at first, the weapon crafting, the settlement crafting, the "supply lines", the armor and character crafting. The companions that aren't too retarded AI wise this time. Yet it's amazing until you see the entire depth of it, realizing that, in true Bethesda fashion, it's an amazingly shallow game. I got all this from around 4 hours of game-time as the sense of "oh, this is really it, isn't it?". Oh, and the new FPS system is shit since they didn't adapt the numbers to it, you know the system that only appeals to the autists who think fast-travel should be removed because it's not "immersive" and it doesn't represent an "RPG". And the organisation of perks is bad. So is the UI. So is the AI.

Fallout is a shit series that represents the most plennial (pleb + millenial) of Western gamers.

Now subscribe and like my blog, faggots.

As opposed to you who came to this thread to
sperg out about other people sperging out about video game developers, why in the fuck do you care? Do you work for Bethesda or something?

It does when there is a massive flow of super mutants coming out of the fucking super mutant factory. Why is it that obsidianfags can't follow basic lore?

Man, I loved Eden. Second favorite thing from F3, after Liberty Prime.

It's a shame he was written to die, one way or the other.

The problem was more that they completely changed how the brotherhood of steel operated to the point that they're barely even the same faction.

In the first 2 games the brotherhood were very morally ambiguous, they basically didn't give a fuck about the outside world until it affected them and actively kept technology from people in order to sustain their own power. They're not good guys, at all.

Then in Fallout 3 they're all of a sudden unambiguously good guys who just want to help people because Bethesda's writers apparently need a simple black and white story with obvious good guys versus obvious bad guys when fallout's never been about that. The only reason that faction is even called the Brotherhood of Steel is nostalgia baiting, that's all, it's got nothing in common with the Brotherhood from the previous two games in terms of their place in the world, even if the aesthetics are copied.

Even in Fallout Tactics while they helped protect people they were a lot more reluctant about and only did it in return for lots of support, which fits them well. Then all of a sudden in Fallout 3 they're humanitarians who want to help everyone rather then paranoic technology hoarders who only help people when absolutely necessary for their own selfish interests.

They weren't. Lyons went renegade and broke off from the Midwest BoS after they lost contact and were stranded in DC. He remade the chapter in his own liking and anyone who didn't agree were ejected from their chapter..

You'll be happy to know none of this matters in F4 since both Lyons are dead and the East Coast BoS is half a step away from the 40K Inquisition.

This, you can tell if a game is going to be terrible usually within an hour or two.

Bethesda's problem is that they're shit developers. The improvements to the shooting system, which is mediocre at best, was heavily influenced by another company they worked with anyway.

They can't get the basic infrastructure of a game down at all. They tried to go the route where VATS isn't necessary, making it into a shooter for wider appeal, but a very clunky shooter with some weird bullshit cover/peak system that just puts you out of cover half the time and a half-assed VATS implementation with no innovation since F3.

So:
- clunky gameplay for a, let's be honest, shooter
- awful performance for a shooter
- just a pure numbers game making the twitch aspect pointless
- game breaking bugs that require a PC user to ensure frames are capped at 100 max else terminal fuck up, the fix for that worked only sometimes and pushed the frame-rate in menus up to 2000-3000 for me.
- three different .ini files with overlapping configuration options. Why?
- another .ini file in the game directory instead of user documents
- settlement system was rushed
- AI is just terrible, I've seen an enemy use cover once
- badly organised inventory systems
- bad weapon customization system
- SPECIAL and perk system is bad

These are just a few I picked up on, although I would still say it was relatively bug free for a Bethesda game. I hate Bethesda's reliance on "mods to make our games great because we're hacks".

I think the outcasts left voluntarily to stay true to the mission of the old BoS, I didn't think he kicked them out

It's part of the official lore that the reason nobody cleared up the rubble was because they were so constantly under attack by super mutants, really? I'd like to see the source for that.
>>
>>62878211
Yes I'm aware of the in-game explanation for the difference it's just it's very obvious they where trying to shoehorn the brotherhood into a role that just didn't suit them because they were so popular and recognizable, ie to drive sales. They go from being the most mysterious faction in the game basically to being the standard grunts of the side of good, it's quite a shock to someones who's played the older games. It's like if stormtroopers were replaced by sith in the new star wars movies.

I think Fallout 4 is shit too, but this is probably because you're playing on normal/easy. AI takes cover a lot on hard and above

still really dumb though. I'm glad deathclaws are completely retarded about terrain, because trying to fight them "fair" with their insanely high damage resistance would be hell
