>tfw Christmas is coming
>time to throw on home alone 1&2 again
What movies do you guys watch every year?
This year'll be the first time my girlfriend sees this. I hope she loves it as much as me and everyone else with taste.
Traditionally Bass-Rankin films like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and probably Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown.
>>62810625
I watch big fish every year on my dads birthday. He told amazing stories just like the main guy in the movie and I never appreciated it until it was too late.
>>62810625
The Ice Harvest. I love how mean-spirited it is.
>>62810625
Jingle All The Way

Bad taste anon. But thanks for the link.
>>62810625
I like Olive the Other Reindeer. Wish it was on tv more
I've always loved this movie unironically.
Die Hard and Jingle All the Way is the GOAT combo
Every year I end up watching a shit comedy and every year I run back to this to wash the bad taste out
Same as you.

Love Actually and A Charlie Brown Christmas are the only things I make an effort to watch every year.
>>62811462
>Die Hard isn't a Christmas flick,
>>62810835
Anon you literally my nigga. Me and my sister, this shit, every christmas. It's the best.
Die Hard with my dad, too.
The best Christmas I had in recent years was in 2009. Throughout the course of the month, I watched a Christmas special every night on the ABC family Christmas marathon thing, made snickerdoodles that lasted all december, and played half life 2: episode 2. Ever since then, it's been a personal tradition to do all those things every Christmas season.
>Home Alone
You take me back to 2001 when I was like 8. Watched that movie so many times during that extended winter break (Kansas had huge snowstorms then).
I actually watched Spirited Away more, though.
>>62811563
Maybe we have shit taste, but at least we have each other.
>there are still imbeciles who think Die Hard is a Christmas movie
Why? Is it just to seem cool?
>>62811644
Cheers anon, my senpai gets together and watches this every Christmas. Feels good man
heh
>>62810929
Fuck yeah! Mah nigga
>>62811688
C-O-L-D
I fucking love christmas movies. I'll be watching:
Charlie Brown Christmas
The Grinch (both versions)
A Christmas Story
Home Alone 1&2
Christmas Vacation
Jingle All the Way
Die Hard
Harry Potter
And I'm sure there's a few I'm forgetting
The Lord of the Rings
technically not Christmas films, but it just feels right watching them in December.
>>62811693
Die Hard is set during Christmas.
So is Die Hard 2.
yeeees
Gotta watch the most based Christmas redemption story, pic related.
I'll also watch Home Alone by myself with cocoa and a comfy blanket. Based soundtrack with "White Christmas" by The Drifters and "Somewhere In My Memory" by John Williams (I crey evry tiem)

>>62811742
I agree. The soundtrack reminds me of Christmas because my friends and I have a marathon of the movies while everyone is back in town for the holidays.

I am looking forward to the Bill Murray Christmas special.
*tips fedora at this thread*
>>62811693
>As the film has a Christmas setting, the score also features sleigh bells in some cues, as well as the Christmas pop standard "Winter Wonderland". Two 1987 pop songs are used as source music: near the film's beginning, limousine driver Argyle plays the rap song "Christmas in Hollis", performed by Run–D.M.C., and later, while talking on the phone in the limousine, Argyle is listening to Stevie Wonder's "Skeletons". The end credits of the film begin with the Christmas song "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" (performed by Vaughn Monroe) and continues/concludes with Beethoven's 9th Symphony.
>Some critics have ranked the film on respective lists of the all-time best Christmas movies as the following:
>Digital Spy – #5
>Empire – #1
>Entertainment Weekly – #4
>Forbes – #1
>The Guardian – #8
>Hollywood Reporter – #4
>San Francisco Gate – #1
>>62811772
>Gotta watch the most based Christmas redemption story, pic related.
Forgot the pic.
Really? Not a single Bad Santa mention?
Is it weird I always watch 2001 around every Christmas? Not even a Christmas movie, for some reason I just like having it on in the background
>>62811816
>He didn't have a happy childhood with Christmas memories.
All of my best memories from Christmas have nothing to do with religion
>>62811693
It's been widely regarded as one since release, and was even going to come out in theaters during the holidays originally.
Nobody think it's a unique or cool thing to say, it's just common knowledge. I have noticed lately an epic trend on reddit and facebook where people pretend that Die Hard was never a Christmas movie and try to act like contrarian hipsters for being the only ones to realize it's not a Christmas movie.
>>62811839
mentioned by >>62811191
I try to watch it each year but I always just end up forgetting to put it on my film rotation. I haven't seen it in a few years now so I think I'll finally watch it this season.
>>62811804
Nice blog post!!!!
>>62811901
Thanks family
>>62811693
If Home Alone can be considered a Christmas film than Die Hard can be included as well.
>>62811894
Ahhh I missed it.
>elf
ugh fuck that guy.
>>62811918
then*
I rewatch Battlestar Galactica, Toradora, and Clannad every December. I also watch Groundhog Day on groundhog day. I'm not saying any of that shit is particularly good but it's a tradition.

Every year I sit down and rewatch these two shows at least once. Band of brothers around Christmas as you probably know why even though I'm Southern Hemisphere and have never actually touched snow and generation kill around January February when it's hot as fuck
>>62811992
That's hardly anything. BSG is 4 seasons + 2 movies, Toradora is 25 episodes, and Clannad is 47. I give myself the full month to do this.
>>62812115
Always forget
>>62811522
That's wrong as shit, you should feel ashamed.

Couple of friends want to marathon the LoTR trilogy this year so it may be the start of something new.
>>62811824
>Forbes, Empire and SF Gate ranked it #1
It's definitely a Christmas film, but it's not the fucking best, goddamn.
>>62812584
>one sitting
Holy shit, impressive.
>>62812236
I'm not, I get two weeks paid from my job for Christmas.
>>62812506
all these except bad santa. once was enough for me.
Christmas Story as well, though that's not something I do by choice, it's a family thing.
>>62810625
one of my favourite movies to watch during Christmas is Catch Me If You Can. It's not about Christmas but there are many scenes in the movie set on Christmas as the years pass by and DiCaprio's character is always spending his Christmas alone in cities where he knows nobody while Tom Hanks spends Christmas alone in detective offices searching for DiCaprio. Something about that movie perfectly captures the joys and melancholy of Christmas.
>>62812976

Tokyo Godfathers

>>62811835
>>62813757
I saw this version on television once and it nearly brought me to tears. Especially the scene with young Ebeneezer at school.
Then I saw the Robert Zemeckis version with Jim Carrey and I just kept asking myself, "why?" Making it animated added nothing. There was on part where they shrink Ebeneezer so he can run around chased by a haunted horse carriage and it just seemed so soulless by comparison.
>>62811835
Great Christmas Carol that one, mine's the superior adaptation though.
>>62811835
>>62813963

>>62813785
A lot of the time it's not even about the movie I find, just an excuse to get together with friends and family while it plays. If you can't see why people would come together ever Christmas to watch a movie they all love together each year then I'm sorry for you

>And there were three kings: Martin Luther, Don and Rodney. Martin Luther was the smartest of the three; he preached equality, peace and self-respect. He was the good king. Don was a deebo who sprung on the wrong cat and got rickets from a stank-poon on 125th street. He was a pumpa-bumpa, who turned a trick on a skeeza named Geranaho, and suffered in drinkin a case Nat’ral Ice, while blasting diarrhea all over his crib. He was a bad king. Rodney was a pull-dagga, coochy rippa, who was geekin’ on bakin’ soda, while flab-stabbin’ some ho in da back of a Hoopty. He did da jelly donut to da moggle-trick, while Amigo Diablo, changed his name to Im-a-do-what-da-cops-tell-me-to-do. He was the worst king of all.
