what are some movies reminiscent of, or concerned with the topic of, the psychedelic experience?

straight edge faggots need only ignore such pornographic and degenerate films and the discussion of them

Magic Magic
Crystal Fairy and the Magical Cactus

Both by the same director, both pretty decent.

Waking Life

Excellent use of rotoscoping to mimic the feeling of a lucid dream.

A Field in England
Altered States

Haven't seen either, but have them downloaded, and intend to watch them when I get the chance.

+1 for Crystal Fairy and the Magical Cactus

Its not DUDE TRIPPY its more about the mental effects they have like ego death and the effects it can have on your personality and relationships. One of the few (if not the only) movies that realistically show this. More often than not on strong psychedelics youll be crying your eyes out thinking about what a shit person you've been.

Its a little unnecessarily long. I would love a cut where it loses a little bit of the travelling scenes where he's just flying around.
That way it'd be at least an 8/10

not where i live, only spiders and wild dogs but im not usually scared of them.
i like to get the wild dogs attention and feed them sometimes.
99% sure i would be good on psychedelics, i have no phobias, etc.
>>
>>62804714
yeah being in a house really fucks with your head.
I felt like I was confined to a cage and was mad that my neighbors and I never talk even though physically theyre always <30 feet than me.
>>
>>62805088
it's awesome, for sure
but if we talked about that it wouldn't be a /tv/ thread
>>
>>62804439
No amount of drugs can make those unnecessarily stretched out scenes fun to watch. Best you can do is take something that zones you out to the point where you dont realize how fucking boring it is. Real psychedelics will just make you notice how artificial all the trippy scenes are too.

The Dark Knight Rises. Yes. I watched it on research chemicals. Or maybe it was real acid. I forgot but one tab was strong as anything.

Anyways it was the funniest fucking thing in the entire world.

I started making shit up in my head like when Gordon keeps trying to run and is sweaty he's really just looking for his coke.

When all the cops started fighting the henchmen I fucking lost it I almost popped a dick.

and this is before /tv/ so you must understand. It's just something else

Whoever did the CG for this movie has taken LSD or mushrooms for sure. Those kind of carpets ALWAYS move like that and the thing where the floor starts to crawl/blend with the walls too.

People kind of overstate how important it is to be outdoors when you trip. I've had several good indoor trips. But outdoor is generally better because nature n shit.

I've done psychedelics with my friends out in the nature and alone in my own room. In my experience having a fun time tripping depends on how good you know yourself and if you're able to keep it together and don't freak out when your minds goes to bad places. In one of my first experiences alone I took too much and I was out of my fucking mind for about 2-3 hours. I tried to watch some visualizers while listening to music but that shit looked like hole in my wall into another dimension, then I went to the bathroom and sat down for a while because I could feel everything inside me about to burst out from every hole, that's when I began to notice the walls moving in and out, almost reaching me, the bathroom was contracting and expanding like a giant ceramic lung and I was inside. Anyway, after I was able to calm down I had a really good time, I listened to music, watched some Fantasia (Stravinsky's Bird of Fire made me cry like bitch), Jesus Christ Superstar, don't remember what else.

>>62804466
Everytime I drop acid the first couple of minutes I always think "shit, this thing's doin' nothing", then things start looking like that scene.
>>
>>62804597
shit movie .interesting visual style but its a bit like inherent vice but bad.

>>62803851
enter the void is fucking amazing.

also this , from the same guy who made waltz with bashir which is also kinda psychedelic but more about twisted old memories then drugs .

the congress is like 10% live action and all the rest is animation , has this weird futuristic psychedelic utopia thing going on .

>enter the void is fucking amazing.

Why would you so willingly display your stupidity like that? I mean, if you had said the visuals were amazing that would be one thing, but the film as a whole? It's one of the most shallow movies I've ever seen.
>>
>>62809468
its an incoherent mess , has no real plot or story ,its pacing is all off.i watched most of it waiting for the actual movie to start because at no point did any character change \experience or do something important to the story .
>>
>>62809600
plot wise it is incredibly shallow , its basically 'some dude hallucinates shit ', but it has an incredible emotional impact and great visuals .
>>
>>62809711
I think it's emotionally shallow too. Not to mention it's a horrible interpretation of the concept of reincarnation, especially the ending, which is so tasteless it actually made me groan. Like I said, the visuals were great. It would've been better if it had just left out the plot all together and gone about it more like Waking Life. But he included the plot, and the plot as it is dragged all the great visual work down into a, imo, terrible exercise in self indulgence to the point where Noe is almost literally masturbating on the audience.
