So /TV/ what's the verdict?
only saw first half, but i liked what i saw .. also curious as to what /tv/ thinks
Great movie due to assured self-restraint. He's not a gangster and every hijacking isn't a declaration of war.
Fantastic performances from both leads. Isaac and Chastain are on the up and up.

tryhard garbage trying to too hard to be a good "serious" movie, but missing all the actual components that give quality much like boardwalk empire

Is it as good as A Prophet? Probably the best crime movie for me in years
>>62766703
fuck no .. a prophet is god tier crime dramas .. very few compete .. one of my favorite films right there

>Great movie due to assured self-restraint
this, but it's also the reason why people who see it and don't like it are disappointed.
the movie is basically a setup for him reaching a breaking point and Gabagooling out. then it turns out it's about how entrepeneurs built America. its excellent, but the misleading title doesn't help desu.

One is a prison drama and one is a commentary on modern America through an anecdotal lens. Don't expect to find many similarities between the two below the sociopolitical umbrella.

Damn, I was expecting this might come close.
Imitation cinema, in this case Lumet as one of those two-hour specials on the TNT network. Sometimes Chastain has an accent, sometimes she doesn't. Two times out of ten the shots will illuminate character or situation, but for the most part are just there to look good. Another "American Classic" simulator from one of the new fedora kings.

if you want a great film with a similar theme, check out Starred Up .. really enjoyed it.
