what'd you guys think?
I found it nothing more than entertaining. It went for much more of a dramatic approach rather than a slight tongue-in-cheek bond movie approach. It was very slow moving, which wasn't exactly a bad thing, and craig makes a pretty good bond IMO. the shots looked really nice and it had a nice aesthetic feel to it however that's a bit overshadowed by the "blue and red filter over and over" cliche. I don't know much about movies and I wasn't paying attention to the story in the slightest so take my shitty opinion with a pinch of salt though.

No it didn't, this was the closest we've come to a classic Bond film with Craig in it. He says fuck everything, goes to all corners of the globe, fucks some women who are in over their head, makes wisecracks and puns, gets captured by the villain, escapes with some ridiculous gadget. Only problem is they tried putting Blofeld being Bond's step brother thing in there which was some dead serious business along with all the fun, which made for some jarring tonal changes. I wouldn't mind watching 2 separate movies, one full grimdark and another full goofball.

It was pure classic Bond. I was even wondering if there'd be some ridiculous torture device and they delivered. I think this movie needed to be done. Next one might not be so goofball.

There was something missing in the Blofeld/Bond relationship. They didn't seem to really care about each other as much as it felt like they should have.

I think the approach from this was to go a bit more classic bond since the craig films didnt really have any similarities to other films, I personally enjoyed the cinematography and the story progresseion but the fact that the plot line was built from the two other movies (casino & skyfall) and built up to this was dumb and gave no easter eggs in the other films to even remotely know that specter was involved with james missions

If it were built up properly, either through this film or better yet, all the previous films, Christoph Blofeld could have been something special. Instead, his whole deal rang hollow and you never really feel that either of them felt anything.
Thankfully, the classic bondness saves it from being dreadful. If one approach didn't work, the other did. And it went from mediocre to decent.
