This is 100% true and I do think it's bullshit that crap like this can fly but don't think being black in academia is always a great thing.
I'm majoring in Electrical Engineer and I've had racist professors shit on my work and actively attempt to make things harder for me on the grounds of being black. I've been singled out in classes to answer disproportionate amount of questions and have received criticism and scorn from the professor for not being able to answer it. Other black students would receive similar treatment.
It was also hard getting research and lab positions when you realized that Asian professors would only choose asian people to have work under them and white professors would only have white/asian people working under them, it was distinctively harder to get positions and there were no black professors.
I've seen the same shit happen to women too. We used to give in lab reports with our partners(we would work together during the lab and just hand in the same answers which was okay to do in this class), I would hand in two separate but identical lab reports for me and my female partner, she would get lower scores. If she had questions regarding the class the TA's would shit on her for not understanding things and complain about how girls couldn't just understand things when it came to engineering.
I don't want to play victim and I'm completely fine with working hard to get what I want. However when individuals feel the need to prevent progress, this is why silly shit like affirmative action ends up existing.

That really doesn't fix the issue though, if people are being selectively targeted to do worse, the issue isn't with their choice of college but rather with the institution. Of course I'm just gonna hammer it out cause I'm not a bitch but I do sometimes feel annoyed when people act like they just hand out degrees to black people and dindus are just going to become doctors.
