I think I'll give one more film a watch before writing him off completely as not for me

The Blu-ray turned all the nice colours to muted sepia and reduces the home video aesthetic to just another grainless digital reworking. I believe the DVD is more like how the film ought to be watched.

Have you even seen the Blu-ray? It's incredibly grainy to the point where a 'transparent' 1080p encode is barely feasible due to the resultant filesize

I don't even know where to start with this post.

Criterion releases are overseen by the original cinematographers and people close to the production.

When you went to see BTW in cinemas, you got what's on the bluray, not what's on a shitty 90s DVD encode.

The new restorations have a strong yellow tint compared to every home release prior.

It resulted in an outcry from plebs who thought it ruined the film, even though it was closer to the original 70s prints and was overseen by the actual assistant cameraman.

I really liked it. In short, I found it to be a laugh-out-loud funny and surprisingly relatable movie with a huge heart. Endlessly charming and very clever adaptation, I think.

I spent quite a bit of the latter half of the movie pondering the reference to the monolith from 2001. Not sure wether they were going for anything beyond "hey, here's a movie reference" by equating to it Cher's bedside telephone. Probably not.

I'm also in love with Alicia Silverstone now.
