>Star Wars Prequels
>did everything wrong that was possible
>fans eat up everything to this day, with seconds

>Matrix Sequels
>did things wrong, but also had great things as well
>no one talks or even remembers the films to this day

Why is this allowed?
>>
Star Wars was made 22 years before The Matrix was.
>>
>>62692727

prequels had great sound design
>>
>>62692727

Herd memetality.

Most true SW fans manned the escape pods after overcoming the denial phase leaving the cinema after Episode I.
>>
>>62692727
Star Wars had young fanboys. Matrix didn't.
>>
>>62692727
not enough toys for the children
>>
I like episode 3 more than either matrix sequel
>>
>>62692727
>fans eat up everything to this day, with seconds

Yeah, I've NEVER heard anyone ever say anything bad about the prequels. All they ever get is constant praise.
>>
>>62692786
This. I had Neo toy though as a kid.
>>
>>62692727
The matrix aren't kids movies.
>>
>>62692746

Ok fine, you're correct. But I was merely pointing out as watchable films than parts. Matrix might not be the sequels people wanted, but are somewhat watchable.

Star wars prequels are just bloated messes.
>>
>>62692727
>aimed for everybody
>decades of good feeling built up before the titanic letdown
>feeling of solidarity between fans over how horrible they were
>shitloads of related material you may or may not enjoy related to it
Vs
>two shit sequels in rapid order after a few years of good feeling built up by one great movie
Doesn't take a fucking genius to figure this one out.

Matrix trilogy > Star Wars prequels

It's not even close. There's more discussion about the Star Wars prequels because it's fun to dissect how awful they are and meme on them (and everyone currently has SW fever because of Ep 7)

Imagine the hype if a new Matrix movie was announced. I wonder if Keanu would come back.
>>
Literally everyone has seen the Matrix OP
>>
The prequels are pretty much replacing Hitler for being synonymous with bad, but the Matrix sequel are usually said to be "decent action movies"
>>
>>62692936
Well duh

The Matrix is a pretty good movie, which automatically puts it above the other five combined
>>
>>62692727
there are more star wars lunchboxes than matrix lunchboxes

I'd say the first two are good, the problems are mostly with the third. 2mech4me.
>>
>>62692982
Maybe it's because I'm not a huge action fan, but I hated both of the sequels equally

Not as much as I hated TPM and AotC though
>>
>>62692740
Literally says the prequels bro
>>
That Matrix was never good

That's why
>>
>>62692727

Star Wars was the biggest movie of a generation, a pop-culture phenomenon and had 3 great films and spawned a merchandise empire, books, video games, and all kinds of spin off shit. It then had 3 pretty fucking awful movies that tarnished, but didn't kill the series.

The matrix was an R-rated surprise of a film that surprised people by being one of the better action films in a decade with some neat sci-fi elements and spiritualism. It then had 2 sequels that while not as bad as the prequels proved that the first movie was probably a happy accident and killed any hope of the series continuing. It had a collection of mostly great anime shorts, and an online video game that folded after a few years.
>>
>>62693032
The Matrix also spurred an annoying trend of copycat styles that lasted throughout the early 2000s
>>
>>62693046
The cultural impact of Matrix pales in comparison to SW.
>>
>>62693032
>It then had 3 pretty fucking awful movies that tarnished, but didn't kill the series.
Ugh, yeah, it kinda did. I have zero desire to see The Force Awakens. The magic is gone. I'm content with watching my Harmy Despecialized editions and nothing more.
>>
>>62693065
Obviously, but it's still more than was mentioned in your post

The Matrix was a big deal for a while and had quite a big impact
>>
>>62693065
The impact the Matrix had was pretty big, but yeah not as big as SW. Just about all science fiction made after the Matrix took heavy influence from it, at least until the iPhone came out and everything started becoming sleek and minimal.
>>
>>62693190
minimalism is a resurgence of modernism from about 50 years ago

The Matrix is not a multi billion dollar a year industry the way Star Wars is.

Force Awakens does everything wrong, actually that applies to Disney Wars in general

>John wick 2 already greenlit

you think one bad movie can end a career? Please.
>>
>>62692740
You're an idiot
>>
I hate The Matrix because it tricked people into thinking Keanu Reeves could act, even though he barely talks in the movie
>>
>>62694629
>I hate The Matrix because it tricked people into thinking Keanu Reeves could act

I think you're confusing Keanu was perfect for the role over it being any indication he's a good actor. Seriously, we dodged a bullet when Will Smith dropped it in favor of WWW
>>
>>62694629
Dude, no one gives a shit if he can act, they love him regardless because Bill & Ted.
>>
>>62694659
>>62694666
The point is that after The Matrix people started saying he was a good actor and he was even allowed to keep having a career

It's a tragedy
>>
>>62694773
>The point is that after The Matrix people started saying he was a good actor

No they didn't.
>>
>>62694793
It was definitely a thing for a while

I heard it with my own ears, saw it with my own eyes
>>
>>62694812

Lots of so-called actors get called good, why single out Keanu? Did the waves take your sister?

The Matrix was made by a women so men and nerd culture feel threatened by it
>>
>>62692936
They've already announced a new trilogy.
>>
do goths even exist anymore? the matrix tried to appeal to that crowd who has now grown out of being edgy.

the same thing will happen with all the hipster indy movies.
>>
>>62695271
Yeah the Matrix style is pretty much only present in autistic neckbeards now
>>
>>62693507
>Keanu
>One bad move
>>
>>62695376

You're just proving my point even more.
>>
Star Wars keeps the hype up for decades with decent quality book, comic, toys and vidya.

Matrix doesnt have any of that.
>>
>>62695200
What are you talking about anon?

Am i being rused?
>>
>>62692727
Matrix was full of ugly brown people. Star Wars was a a gated galactic community
>>
>>62692727
OG Star Wars fans HATE the prequels, it's the idiot millennials that like them.
