I will be mad if Episode 7 doesn't have the same style steelbook release when the bluray/dvd comes out. And I really hope I don't have to wait for episode 8 and 9 to be released before they come out with steelbooks.

The fact that Yoda is the only hero on a cover hurts my autism.
>>
I saw those at Best Buy today, they were dope but I didn't feel like dropping $45 on the prequel trilogy because I already have the originals

I don't even like star wars and i want to buy those. Very nice.
>>

>>62658706
Oh wait is that the back? That makes it worth while.

I'd run the face side through a belt sander then paint it black
>>
>>62658712

And the logos are not consistent either
>>
>>62658712
What, you don't like nameless stormtrooper being the cover of episode 5?
>>
>>62658688
I have this terrible feeling that they won't even treat The Force Awakens like it's part of the overall saga.

The logo is completely different from the logos of any of the previous films. "Episode VII" doesn't even seem to be part of the title.
>>
>>62658762

I have original versions on my pc.I doubt they will ever released high quality versions though.

I got these steelbooks because I wanted something physical and permanent to showcase the movies on my shelf.
>>
>>62658712
That's because yoda was the main villian of episode II

Dooku's plan was never explained. Yoda was a dumbass and made the clone army despite it being a trap, then started a war with the separatists to rescue some jedi and padme that were doing a fine job escaping on their own.
>>
>>62658712

It should have been Jango Fett
>>
On the subject of starshit I can't find a good ROTJ despecialized anywhere.

Help a good goy out
>>
>>62658712

Yeah, that completely ruins it. Could've been Dooku or Jango, or even a droid.
>>
>>62658891
They could have put Luke on Episode V and it would have been better. A fucking Stormtrooper, what were they thinking?

I always associated Empire with Storm Troopers
>>
B-B-but they're supposed to be ignoring the prequels!

>I have this terrible feeling that they won't even treat The Force Awakens like it's part of the overall saga.

That's the point, fuck the overall saga, half of it is shit

>The logo is completely different from the logos of any of the previous films. "Episode VII" doesn't even seem to be part of the title.

That's the point. The original trilogy had a different logo style for every movie. It wasn't until the prequels did george establish a consistent logo scheme and started putting "Episode X" in the title. The OT only used the episode count in the opening crawl.

So for the force awakens, the logo is what it needs to be. STAR WARS is dominate, with the force awakens as a necessary subtitle not to confuse the two, and its subdued. The next two film logos will probably emphasize the subtitle like the empire strikes back and return of the jedi.
>>
>>62658947
>>62659005

Yeah exactly, the storm trooper represents the empire, which is pretty much a collective character in TESB.

If its called "The Empire Strikes Back", why not put...The Emperor on it?
>>
>>62659286
That wouldn't make sense because part of the appeal of ROTJ is the emperor finally being showcased
>>
>>62659286
the emperor isn't the entire empire, he's just the leader
>>
>>62658688
Stop being a queer senpai
>>
>>62659286
Because he's only in it for like 1 minute and is a minor mystery character, he's also doesn't personify the empire as well as a storm trooper because he's his own character. And you know, who would you put on the ROTJ box?

You should read your picture
>>
>>62659162
I wouldn't use those terms, reboots are retellings/rewrites.

From what I understand of the sequel trilogy, it's like if they decided they were finally going to make more star wars movies, but actually in the style of the OT, ignoring that the prequels exist and how they handled things.
>>
But Disney said the prequels are canon so fuck you dumbass haters
>>
>>62658688
1) The covers fucking suck. I don't need to explain why. It should be a law that all home video releases for movies use a fucking movie poster, for fucks sake. Tired of this garbage.

2) I have no desire to own 1-3 other than for ogling Hershlag and 4-6 are not the unaltered theatrical releases, so I don't give a shit.
>>
I'm considering buying the OT steel books, they look pretty cool.
>>
>>62659005
I love that VHS set.
It was right before Star Wars was butchered and the minimalism worked there.
>>
>>62660041
What's great is they cleaned up some stuff that looked shitty and remastered the sound. That's all it ever needed.
>>
>giving grievous a cover
Why?

Anyway, until we see a HD remaster of the non-SE OT I will never pay shekel one for another wave of Star Wars home videos.

I liked it when A new hope was just called Star Wars and none of that episode shit existed.

I also catch that The force awakens is just called Star Wars the force awakens, they dont mention the episode title card. and who would? if theyre going to be pumping out the movies alot im guessing its a good idea to drop the episode marks.
>>
>>62660168
Fuck this calling it A New Hope. I still call the first movie Star Wars
>>
>>62660168
>I liked it when A new hope was just called Star Wars and none of that episode shit existed.
"Episode IV" was added in 1981 when it was shown again after Empire.

>>
>>62658688
All of the covers have antagonists on them except episode 2, they should have put Count Dooku on the cover so all 6 would be consistent.
>>
>>62660285
They should have put
Qui-Gonn | Obi-Wan | Anakin

Leia | Han | Luke
>>
>>62660168
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels that way
The episode marks are dumb
And A New Hope is just too corny of a name
Truly a George thing to add to a shit subtitle to an already great movie
I always call it Star Wars
>>
>>62660313
It's all George's fault. He wanted to pump out a movie every year like proper pulp sci-fi but he lost interest after the studios fucked him over. Now Disney is doing what he wanted to do and they dropped the episode part to appease fanboys.

For the record I don't really care either way.
>>
>>62660377
>>62660313
When did he decide to start calling it episode 4,5 and 6?
Surely people wouldn't have been happy when he suddenly went "oh lol these are actually the last 3 movies of a six parter where i haven't made the first half yet :)"

No that's wrong, it was before star wars was filmed. It initially was going to be all one movie, but when they broke it up because it was way too long, he decided on the episode format and recognized them as 4,5,and 6 internally. He probably started in the middle instead of episode 1 because he wanted it to feel like you were tuning into a saga in progress that had a past.

He caved and had to remove episode IV from the star wars crawl because they were worried about audiences confusing the movie for a sequel. ESB was the first movie to have its episode count in the theatrical release, and ANH got its episode count on home video long before the special editions.

All Disney needs to do is do what these releases of the original trilogy did and put them on Blu-Ray.

They'd make billions of dollars.
>>
>>62661558
>We were toying with the idea of calling it Episode III, IV, or V — something in the middle. Fox hated that idea. They said it’ll really confuse the audience — and actually they were right. If you go to see a film, and it’s been touted as this new science fiction film, and it says Episode III up there, you’d say, “What the hell?”

>We were a bit clouded by the fact that we wanted it to be as much like Flash Gordon as possible. Because if you went to Saturday morning pictures and came in and saw episode eight of Flash Gordon, you’d have the scroll at the beginning, the rollup, which we imitated. So we thought that would be really clever. But it was stupid at the time, because it’d be impossible to explain to anybody what it meant.

I would not trust lucas if he said this, but why would Kurtz lie? Wikipedia also cites this explanation to TPM and ANH DVD commentary, and I've heard it in some other documentary.

The title STAR WARS was still considered the name of the movie until the prequel era. Episode IV, V, VI didn't even show up on the covers until the prequels. Look at the '95 box set. "Star Wars" is in huge lettering, while "A New Hope" is tiny. Compare this with TESB and RoTJ from the same set, in which both of them have a small "Star Wars" above a much larger main title.

That's how it was until the prequels. The movies were called "Star Wars", "The Empire Strikes Back", and "Return of the Jedi".

>>62658688
