The most brutal death scene of any movie ever.
>show up in cornfield to strike up a sweet deal about new gangster shit with your longtime friend whom you consider family
>get hit with a fucking baseball bat in the face
>get restrained and forced to watch as your brother is horrendously beaten with baseball bats till he's just barely conscious
>get the absolute Fuck beaten out of you until you're just barely conscious
>get stripped
>brother gets thrown in hole
>you get thrown on top of him
>every major bone in your body is shattered
>horrific agony
>deepest sense of defeat and betrayal possible: your friends are the ones who did this to you
>brother gasping last breaths beneath you
>dirt starts getting shoveled on top of you
>you breathe in a mouthful of dirt
>now your breathing is choked, painful and difficult
>the dirt is piled higher on top of you
>your brother has a few final seizures and passes partly from your immobilized bodyweight
>no more air, you get that horrendous final feeling of fear and futility as your destroyed body thrashes what little it can for air

Nicky and his brother where pieces of shit. A big theme in gangster movies and tv shows is that these guys aren't really friends, they work together. At the end of the day they care about themselves. And its almost always your "friends" who pull the trigger on you.
That said that scene is probably one of the most brutal death scenes I've scene, along with the vice scene earlier in the movie. The only thing that comes close to me is Ray Liotta getting the fucking shit beat out of him in KTS, but he lives through that.
