Will season 6 save the show?
If D&D step back and let the competent writers have some control, as opposed to trying to force their own shitty story into the show.

Season 5 was honestly quite shit, and that's coming from someone who really liked the first four. I mean, the back-half of Feast and Dance is kind of crap source material, but I didn't think it was humanly possible for the adaptation to be even WORSE. How do you fuck up that badly?
There was great stuff in S5, but all I can remember is the shit because the shit was so pervasive. Bad pussy, the faith militant becoming the primary power in King's Landing overnight, Brienne's bizarre sidequest, the writing was reliant on coincidences, Jaime's out-of-character adventure, the forced romance between Missandei and Noballs, and Stannis' plot going off the rails.
What a shitshow.

Only caught up watching GoT recently, and don't really get why people hate the Stannis ending as much as they do.
I mean, his arc has clearly been that of a competent and potentially worthy ruler led to desperation and failure from the moment the lady in red showed up with her tits, and that's what happened. They'd been setting up his slow descent ever since the aftermath of his failed attack on King's Landing.

On the surface, Stannis' story is one of a bitter old man who thinks he should be king, and is manipulated by the red lady in his quest to claim the throne. And that's just what it is on the show.
In the books, we slowly realize his story is completely different from our first impression. He isn't bitter and cruel, he's just super dutiful and has a bad reputation because he didn't suck up to the nobility. He isn't actually being manipulated by Mel, in fact he doubts the existence of any god and keeps her around because she's useful. And he turns out to actually be the most wise and competent claimant in the series by coming to the aid of the watch and liberating the North.
So the show does a good job of telling the story we thought we were getting, while the books reverse our expectations and develop a more interesting character in the process.

It also puts off burning your daughter for a little longer. You know, like the decision a real human being would make rather than "because the script needed it to happen."
People don't like it because the writing is sloppy as shit and has been for most of the show's run. It's the acting and production values which keep GOT going.

He did in the books, where 20 GOOD MEN never happened, his army was decimated by a neverending snow storm, an actual one and not some snow there and there, but they kept marching to Winterfell. Soldiers in the rear start to eating their dead companions corpses so Stannis executed them.
It was an actual well written situation, not one where medieval ninjas suddenly sneaked into a military camp unnoticed. The events in the show were stupid, almost on par with Asha/Yara Rescue Rangers and the dogs.

Sure. But it's also the tits and the backstabbing porn. They have to flash a perfect pair of tits in everyone's face every 1.5 episodes or the interest falls apart. And everyone has to make every effort to fuck over somebody, doesn't matter who, just somebody.

I don't even know what the fuck happened to this show, I didn't even watch the last episode of season five because it just go so boring.
S1 was great. They delivered the important points and kept the story compact, just like it should be. S2 they started making some changes, stupid ones but still under the argument of "there is no more space for it". The next seasons just turned slowly into trash, even the time argument doesn't fit anymore because of stupid nonsensical subplots and decisions.
The story sure got a lot bigger, but it was still possible to cut the right things and keep it compact. What they did? Cut everything important to make some space for le dickless man love story.

Well I understand why most people hate it, it's short, it seems to focus on the wrong characters, it all ends in frustrating cliffhangers...
But once you get past that there's some really compelling stories, it's more bittersweet and introspective, and I love that. But I'm sure the show won't be able to translate that on screen.

Don't you watch the inside the episode videos? It's pretty much obvious for anyone with a brain that it is exactly what it happens in the next book, Martin told them how it would all go down and the brothers were terrified. So they did on the show.
Sure, in the winds of the winter the events may not be the same, but the conclusion is the same. Shireen burns in front of Stannis.
But things may go exactly like the show did, because some co-author or some shit tweeted that the brothers spoiled the books and didn't gave a shit, so, you just have to connect the dots.

So? A shitload of things can, and will happen in the winds of the winter that can take shireen from point A to B or stannis from point B to A, the book is gonna be fucking huge. That's exactly why we're going to read it, and we will like it.
Or like you said it yourself, Melisandre will probably burn her, thats what I believe too. But after the finale from season 5, I'm pretty sure Stannis will give the go ahead and watch it. Re-reading it all now, the brothers do have a point, it does make sense in the end.

Does context really matters if the conclusion is the same?
It's the end of it all we're talking about here, not how it all leads to it. Shireen sacrifice by the hand of Stannis just proves his foolishness, and it is strongly implied that this how things ends with Stannis. It's a fact that he's not the choosen one, even his sword is the equivalent of a lightsaber toy.
The only person to save the show is Euron, really like the actor although Pilou asbaek does not look that threatning
