I feel like S8 Capaldoctor might have been inclined to do something like that, to try to get away from it all. But then when the aliens come and he has to kill his family to protect them he ends up having his buried memories triggered and just saying, "Fuck it, I can't get away from this after all," then he reverts back to his Time Lord form and comes back for S9 and has a sort of midlife crisis involving guitars and sunglasses and trying to be more cheerful to bury the pain of what happened.
