I saw Daniel Craig in an airport shortly after Skyfall was released and I was so fucking mad because of how hyped up it was. I walked up to him and told him that Sam Mendes is a fucking hack and that he's a dogshit Bond that is nothing compared to Dalton. He didn't say anything at all but I could tell that a part of him knew I was right.
>>
He was the only one to make Bond a likeable person.

I know it gives you some weird satisfaction to be a contrarian, but Timothy Dalton was a charisma vacuum as Bond and almost everyone recognizes this.

What do you guys think of License to Kill?
>>
>>62645909
pleb taste confirmed

>>62645926
its great. i thought it was meh the first time i saw it (this was the young me that actually thought DAD was a good movie), but it has some amazing stunts, a great villian, a great bond performance, and great music, and Talisa Soto was hot af
>>
>>62645926
The best 80's Bond film with one of the best title songs.
>>
I craved in to the dalton shills on this board and re watched the two dalton bonds

The living daylights performance was amazing , he actually came of perfectly. He was tough we he needed to be and when he seduced the women he didn't come of as a creep, daltons performance was charming to say the least. This in turn made me care about him and his love interest more then I normally do

Licence to kill wasn't as good imho but was still an enjoyable film.

I'm not claiming his my GOAT Yet but I'm certainly more convinced
>>
>>62645926
Generic 80's action movie that seemed the least like a Bond movie of any in the series.
>>
>>62645909
Nope. Plebs were just used to the long serving meme acting capeshit bond of the day and then couldn't handle Dalton's mature and gritty Bond. (genuinely mature and gritty not "meme" mature and gritty like Craig.
>>
>>62645909
Not really. His only problem is his height
>>
>>62646054
Dalton was gritty, but refined.

new craig (post CR) doesnt have that refinement or that emotional content
>>
>>62645909
god forbid that I don't like what you and other people like. preferring Dalton makes me a contrarian? why? and as you can see, a lot of people here like him as well, dumbass
>>
>>62646054
That must be why Dalton got so much work after getting fired after only 2 movies. Fuck off. You're opinion is literally a meme opinion.
>>
>>62646083
He's as tall as Craig, who's much more popular.
>>
>>62646144
>>62646083

actually, he is tied for the tallest Bond at 6ft 2' inches

Craig is 5 foot 10 i beleive
>>
>>62646144
I don't think so. Lot of actors lie about their height
>>
He's the 2nd GOAT
>>
>>62646094
You're a contrarian because you pretend to like shit based on either popularity or reddit. Pathetic.
>>
>>62646106
He was a great actor with heaps of integrity who had to fall on his sword and back away from Bond just because he was too ahead of his time and the machine had to cast him aside to keep the wheels turning. Being rejected by the mainstream should be a badge of honor as an artist. Next they got a memier dumbed down Bond to appease the pleb sensibilities and keep the toyline going.
>>
>>62646106
he wasn't fired, he dropped out after Goldeneye entered dev hell.
>>
>>62646244
He was actually gonna be in goldeneye, cubby brocolli really liked him and thye wrote it for him but after delys he didnt want to come back

Integrity? From what, Flash Gordon or tv movies like Scarlet? James Bond was as close as he got to real success and he got btfo. End of story.

He gave us the greatest Bond ever committed to film. Only bad thing for him is that it took 20 years for people to notice.

>>

>implying flash gordon is somethign you can turn down

he was a shakespearian theatre actor, that is legit what he loved most. he was actually offered bond twice, the first time he turned it down because he was too young and didnt want to follow connery (1969) the next he turned down because he didnt like the direction the series was taking (after moonraker)

Please don't turn Dalton into a damn meme.
He was a great Bond but you're just going to make people on /tv/ hate him out of spite.
Stop making these threads please.
>>
>>62646384
>Brosnan is acknowledged as saving the series.
Your video game nostalgia doesn't make that true. It was a regression, artistically speaking. Moore was trash, then they reinvented it into something great with Dalton, which the trash loving plebs rejected and then they went back to trash. Goldeneye is okay. Passable but mediocre compared to License to Kill or The Living Daylights, but everything Bronson did after that was straight trash. Casino Royale is the only "good" Bond film post Dalton.
>>
>>62646384
they wanted him back badly and wrote goldeneye for him, Cubby really liked him, he just became sick of the role (something surprisingly most bond actors end up saying)

ironically, Brosnan's writers would nearly kill the franchise a few films down the line
>>
>>62646384
I won't deny that, I loved Brosnan as well. I was under the impression that it was Dalton who decided not to came back with all the rights stuff and it taking so long to get done

>>
>>62646593
That's cool, I don't like them very much but I respect your opinion. But now, please explain to me, what's the problem with preferring Dalton to Connery or the others? Why is it contrarian? Why can't you respect that?
>>
>>62646294
If anything Moore was at least fun.
Craig is just boring, grim and prefers to piss on the things that define Bond.
The worst part is that the Bond after Craig will probably be even worse.
>>
>>62646748
When was it ever contrarion to like Connery? isnt that everyone's default choice? with Dalton people finally discovered he is a lost gem.

is Brosnan seriously the yard stick they measure bonds by?
>>
>>62645281

> Liam Neeson turned down the roll of Bond because he didn't want to do action movies.

> Literally every movie he does now is Taken with a new setting...

Almost as bad as Kianu refusing Speed 2 because he didn't do sequels because didn't want to get type cast then he stars in The Matrix and will forever be Neo (until he does a few more John Wicks...)
>>
he could have played bond early

Didn't Ewan McGregor also turn down Bond because he didn't want to be associated with only one role and now everybody associated him with Obi-Wan?
>>
>>62646925
He got offered twice:

in 1969 for OHMSS, but he didnt want to follow Connery and he said he was too young

after moonraker, he didnt like the turn the series took

he wouldve been amazing if he started with For Your Eyes Only, the 80s would of been the decade of great bond

I'm asking you, why can't you respect that people may have a different opinion to yours? Maybe some even prefer and think Lazenby's the greatest of them all, it's not "pathetic", it's their opinion.
>>

>>
>>62647064
my bad anon, thought you said "dalton OR connery" not "dalton to connery"

to try and answer your base question, some people grow attached to a certain bond and their style and think that is "the defacto bond", my guess anyway. Brosnan fans tended to hate craig (when he first replaced him) and so on

They're the Michael Bay movies of their time. Devoid of plot, filled to the brim with meaningless action, explosions and effects.

>>
Which is the better anti-Bond? Trevelyan or Silva? Silva actually succeeded with his plan to kill M, but Trevelyan's plan was cooler. And Trevelyan actually came pretty close to killing Bond in a legit fight.
>>
>>62647902
You cant beat Sean Bean
>>
Sean Connery is 3/5
George Lazenby was alright in 1
Roger Moore has 3/7
Timothy Dalton is 2/2
Pierce Brosnan is 2/4
Daniel Craig is 2/4 (haven't seen Spectre)
>>
>>62647923
Sean Bean is a meme but so is Javier Bardem. I wish they'd stop it with the pandering casting. QoS is the only time they didn't get a meme actor with these craig films.
>>
>>62647842

Connery v Moore has been going on since before we were born
>>
>>62647952
This is a pretty good way of looking it at.

But trust me, Spectre makes Craig 2/5, if not 1/5 to penalize him for such wooden and milquetoast acting.

wait, isnt spectre only craig's 4th bond?
