Nah, it's one of their worse games. The choices you make matter even less than other Telltale games and the episodes are much shorter than say, The Walking Dead or A Wolf Among Us. I like it because of the lore and because it's canon, but the game itself isn't really that good.
I don't recommend purchasing it at full price. Either get it on sale or pirazize it.

I marathoned it right before the last season aired, then watched the last season as it aired.
Season 1 was my favorite because of the slower pacing and world-building, although 2 and 3 were still really good. Never got the hate for Season 4; it's not quite as good as the last 3 seasons but it's not really a dramatic drop in quality. Season 5 was almost purely garbage and only had 1 truly great episode in my opinion, but that's just like, my opinion, man.

Here's what I did, I'd highly recommend it.
Binge watch the first season. Then read the first three books (read the 4th and 5th if you're still enjoying them) and afterwards continue watching the show.
The first season of the show is by far the best, it's a very faithful adaption of the first book and stands well on its own. Watching it establishes the characters in your mind, making reading the books much easier and more enjoyable.

I knew literally nothing about the show, and was legitimately surprised by fucking dragons.
