How does one get into the business of writing horror movies?

Have you write something?.
Start with this first.

Say I have. Pretend it's good.
1) Write one.
Come back for step 2 after that.
Already having more money than you know what to do with.
Nepotism
Dumb Luck
Mindless praise for your betters.
I've written a horror film. I tried to make it play off cliches and sort of act as anti-horror.
It turned out pretentious and terrible. But writing is rewriting. So you get an idea (make sure it's novel), plan it out, then just fucking write it.
Just write. It's never going to start good.

Well yeah but that's writing, I'm talking about selling a script

Well you keep writing until you write a good one, dork. Then you fucking give it to one of the million contests or Blacklist or make it yourself.
Get known. Get noticed.
Then move to LA.

That's actually helpful thank you, I appreciate this.
so what's your horror movie about?

Cops who respond to a domestic violence thing and spooky shit goes down. I might redraft the whole thing and just have that be the opening because the after math might be more interesting
