One of my exes went so far as to write a literal essay about how empowering it is to be "finally acknowledged" as a Star Wars fan, calling the older movies "sexist trash." Mind you, she already owned a million Star Wars things for years and gushed about how great the original trilogy was while never once bashing it for being "misogynistic."
Just more evidence that this mindset is a fad with millennial women and nothing more. Whether it's here to stay, who knows, but the fact that it's catching on is not helping anyone.
