Benicio Del Toro will be in it, and they're also working out deals with Billy Dee Williams and Hayden Christensen for cameo appearances. The casting process for the other new characters will being in early February.

The original idea was to build up Poe as the protagonist, the handsome, debonair, squared-jawed hero, to sort of trick people into thinking he'd be the new main guy, and then he dies and the heroism falls upon the two damaged fuck-ups, Finn and Rey. They even wanted to cast a big time actor for the role (Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, at one point even Tom Cruise). But that was kinda' dropped as Abrams and Kasdan refined the script, and he just became a starting point. Abrams pitched it to Oscar Isaac, since he was a fan, and they ended up figuring out a way for Poe to come back later in the narrative.
