I didn't say it was required retard and that's not the point, I'm saying that the movie contradicts the argument that Rey can become a powerful force user and fighter because she was trained by luke as a kid for a short while where as we can see in revenge of the sith that it didn't do shit for the kids.

There is also another plothole, it's implied that the trick only works if spoken in a calm manner, yet she panicks in the end and tells him to leave the weapon and he just casually shrugs it off which is improbable as fuck and the film narrative going against the canon it itself established earlier
