How is it a Jedi weapon? It's just a fucking sword. Why is nobody ever seen using it besides Jedi? Apparently it's a good weapon and isn't outclassed by blasters in the way guns outclass swords so there's no reason why regular people couldn't be using them. Theyre also easier to conceal. Luke in ANW and Finn in TFA demonstrate you don't have to be a Jedi to use them.

It's only a match for blasters if you have Jedi training to allow you to deflect blaster shots, otherwise you'd just get shot trying to use one.

But the blades dont bend. Swordsman's don't slice their own arms off, and they don't have super spiritual zen training. The Jedi are a religious order. The light saber is a mechanical creation. What?

Wielding a lightsaber is incredibly different from a sword. A sword's blade has mass, the lightsaber's beam does not. Attempting to wield it is like gripping a roll of quarters and waving it around; if you're not properly trained, it's very easy to have a poor sense of where the blade is spatially because you can't sense the weight behind your movements.
That and you need training to deflect blaster shots so it's just not worth it. Also making a lightsaber requires a force-sensitive person to properly align the parts in one step using the force.

In the Original Trilogy palpatine and yoda were both force wizards, more interested in how they could wield the force to do wonders or w/e. Obi Wan and Luke were Jedi Knights, Vader was a falling Jedi which is why he still had a lightsaber. The emperor back then considered lightsabers to be pretty pointless and could have probably make luke's heart explode with a thought, or boiled all of his blood or w/e but instead he tortured him with a lightning party trick because he was an asshole. He didn't think very highly of Jedi or their weapons as he had a pet jedi of his own and exterminated the rest of them with ease. Luke was never a threat to him.
Of course the prequels came along and shit all over that because all kids want to see is people hitting each other with lightsabers even if it's a 100 year old testicle-faced monster man and a 2' tall frog.

Would have been a lot more effective if the 4 Jedi walk into his office, tell him he's under arrest and the suddenly the lights start to dim and the office starts to shake and he just melts one of the with his mind, force pushes another out of his office so fast he splats against some far back wall and does something unseen to the 3rd that just makes him start screaming and clawing his eyes out before Anakin comes in to stop Windu from finishing him or w/e.
Would have been a lot more effective and made the emperor terrifying instead of just silly.
