Cloverfield was good, but Gamera 3 had already done the ground level view of a horrific monster attack in 1999 and it had ALOT more action and better characters than Cloverfield.
Watchmen is fucking great, but its still very condensed compared to the comic.

3 is good, but honestly there are points where it gets flat out uncomfortable to watch and gets a bit convoluted at times. I always was a bit disapointed that the graveyard didn't factor in as a bigger part

My bad in terms of wording, but it did poke fun at/highlight some of the more outlandish parts of the genre (the glasses guy always pointing out the outlandish monster actions)
It isn't flat out parody, but it plays to many of the stereotypes of the genre that also kind if make fun of it
