I'd venture to guess none of them has felt a single sincere conviction about anything since childhood. They exist as polyps upon the colon of culture, satiating themselves on the perceived failures of others (i.e. "The Man") while adding nothing new to the discourse aside from ironic complaint.

They are awful, awful people. I've met thousands just like them, and the last thing we need is for these people to gain any attention for their navel gazing.

I went into this episode expecting to hate it, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Max did come across as trying too hard and being a bit needy at times (all the "I'm glad we watched this together. I think we bonded." shit) but after a while I just felt that he was acting how any anon who got the chance to be in a BOTW would, and that sort of endeared me to him.
It probably helped that the movies they watched in this seemed like rich veins of comedy. I'm actually half tempted to watch Double Down just to see how crazy it actually is, came across as like a 13-year olds edgy self-insert story turned into a film.

He's a pretty excitable kid, I can see how that might be annoying at times but it seems alright once you get used to how that's just the way he is.

Max started kind of shit where he had that Aidsmoby Beardfat thing where it's like "Haha look at me I'm contributing!" whereas Rich, Mike and Jay tend to be more in touch with each others rhythms and bounce off each other.
He settled towards the end and ended up getting into the funk of the dynamic. He's definitely enjoyable after a point. The episode was pretty good and it improved as it went along.
