>1.Paul Feig Hasn’t Directed a Bad Movie in a Decade
>Paul Feig has directed five movies in his career, and it’s really easy to tell when he hit his stride. In 2011, he directed Bridesmaids, starring, among others, his Ghostbusters stars Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. After that came The Heat in 2013 ($160 million domestic) and Spy last year (94% on Rotten Tomatoes). These movies have such a strong throughline — big, broad, hilarious comedies starring women that made a lot of money — that it’s easy to forget he’s directed two other movies: I Am David, a forgettable 2003 movie starring Jim Caviezel, and Unaccompanied Minors, the 2006 holiday-movie bust starring Wilmer Valderrama. It’s been TEN years since Feig made a bad movie, and the three good ones he’s made have been GREAT. Time to give him the benefit of the doubt.

>2.Feig’s Movies Are Always Better Than Their Trailers
>The freakout over the Ghostbusters trailer is understandable, but it’s important to remember that Bridesmaids is the only Feig/McCarthy joint with really good trailers. Everybody thought The Heat was going to be terrible because the trailers made it look exactly like the idiotic buddy-cop movie it was satirizing. The Spy trailer was greeted as the same-old same-old from Melissa McCarthy. Both of those movies outperformed their trailers an ended up as the comedic highlights of their years. Have we not yet learned our lesson?

>3.The Comedic Talent Onboard Is Staggering
>This argument was in place from the very beginning. Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon as the titular busters of ghost. The sneakily funny Chris Hemsworth as a studly Janine substitute. This is not some lightweight take on a beloved classic. An entire generation’s worth of Saturday Night Live alums are on display here, and just like when Wiig and Maya Rudolph teamed up on Bridesmaids, it’s a testament to how much the women on SNL have come to dominate that show. It’s even more appropriate considering the original Ghostbusters was such a showcase for SNL alums Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd.

>4. We’ve Figured Out How to Do Remakes
>Not ALL remakes, certainly, but in a film landscape where a project so seemingly stupid as the 21 Jump Street remake could become a legitimately great comedy, there’s every reason to believe that the comedy landscape is ready to do Ghostbusters right again.

5.Dan Aykroyd Says So
>To quote the original Ghostbusters cast member: “As originator of the original: Saw test screening of new movie. Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it! As one of millions of man-fans and Ray Stantz, I’m paying to see that and bringing all my friends!” Straight from Aykroyd’s Facebook page! So quit your worrying. Get ready to see this movie with optimism in your heart.

The ape nigger isn't even trying at all.

> Trailers are objectively awful
> Leaked summary of script (which is credible) isn't inspiring
> Reviews embargoed until right before release (almost never a good sign)
> Sony is using the original cast to draw attention to the reboot. Who does this?
It would take a miracle for this movie to actually be good.

Oh wow, I was a basement-dweller who hated any prospect of this film because I hate women so much (bitches don't know bout my battletoads).
But after reading that, my opinion has changed. Well, I guess I have no choice but to see what is shaping up to be a truly inspirational, genre-defining film.
Also, I've heard rumours that it channels Blade Runner visually. Kino confirmed. Amirite? So epic win. I'm gonna watch this and then grab a Papa John's afterwards cause I know I'm going to be hungry.

Heat was terrible, it was simply boring. Spy was genuinely decent though, it was too long, but Stathom absolutely killed it and McCarthy was surprisingly funny.

Honestly I do think it'll be fine. I just don't see any reason for a Ghostbusters remake to exist, period, and the all-female move feels more like something a bunch of businessmen came up with than creative inspiration. It'll be a safe, somewhat generic comedy with a few too many "remember this from the original?" moments.
>>
>>71742489
I'm a delivery driver at Papa John's, and everyone I work with is embarrassed to be associated with this shitshow. There also seems to be a trend with movies that do a promotional tie-in with Papa John's, and end up flopping (at least critically). The other two I recall are Transformers 2 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
>>
>>71745504
>Its so good, that they pushed the review the embargo back until release date. That is how incredibly confident they are in the quality of the product!

Yeah, that's the biggest sign of this being a shitshow. They can deny all they want with the other things but this is a big one. Shame really, I would've been okay with the cast if not for how the trailer came out.
>>

Define bad. Middle-aged women aren't my demographic, so I can't possibly comment. All I know he's a numale cuck who hates men.

21 Jump Street was also a sort of wink and nod parody of the original series and action movies, it was a sort of meta look at the show and genre. With the new Ghostbusters it looks like the only new thing they're trying to do is make the cast all women and actionize it up
