Both the End of Time retcon and the Day of the Doctor one are as bad as each other.
In both cases, the behavior of the Doctor before the retcon doesn't feel right at all.
In the RTD era, you have to assume that when the Doctor talks about how beautiful Gallifrey was and about how he would save it he's thinking of Gallifrey before the Time Lords went insane.
In The End of Time, you have to assume that pretty much every time the word "Time Lord" is mentioned it's referring only to Rassilon and his cronies.
I fucking hate asspull retcons like that, but as a Doctor Who fan it's impossible to avoid them. I just kind of liked the End of Time one because I loved the evil Time Lords in that episode, but in a way it's even worse than Day because it's RTD going against the backstory that he had created himself.
Oh, and the portrayal of Rassilon was fine, it followed logically from what Big Finish had done with the character in the McGann audios. It's one of the few cases the TV show actually took EU stuff into account, even if it wasn't specifically mentioned.

This is how clara departs. spoilers obviously.Ashildr is the raven that Rigsy must face.She calls herself the raven now because it is a viking symbol of death. Rigsy is about to die and ashildr taunts clara with "what would the doctor do?". At this point clara sacrifices herself by stepping into the chronolock chamber which is mire technology also (its the big glass tube in the 2nd trailer). it erases her from time and space. Ashildr now thinks because clara is gone the doctor will let her travel with him.Episode 11 takes place in the trap street with the doctor alone. It ends with him finding gallifrey and finding out clara is dead. Ep12 is narrated by Jenna Coleman. When the doctor is under gallifrey with the time lord ghosts, he pretends clara is there and breaks down into tears of rage and smashes a tomb. The hybrid is not clara, its the doctor, and it being "part timelord part dalek" is metaphorical, because of the rage he displays in ep12. The veil is the creature from listen.
