They can't improve it, it's too late now. The only way would be if the current season was the last one, and they all just die killing themselves or chopped off or turned into zombies.
Then, they'd be the true walking dead.

It's sucks, there's a bunch of hipster contrarianism that floats around tv, but this is actually one of the few shows that didn't get any better after s1. Like the show after season one just missed the point completely, it just tried so hard to be "cool" which is such a shame, because season one had coolness in spades, not because it was trying hard with the "zomg cool zombie headshot with a pitchfork" shit, but because it was actually trying to tell an interesting story.
It's the same thing that has happened to game of thrones, it got caught up in the "lets make this cool" thought rather than the "cool" being a side effect .
THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM WITH THIS TELEVISION PROGRAM IS THAT IT FORGETS THAT ITS CENTRAL ELEMENT IS "ZOMBIES", AND THEREFORE IT TAKES ITSELF OVERLY SERIOUSLY TO A MAWKISHLY MELODRAMATIC DEGREE; THIS IS THE OPPOSITE EXTREME OF THE SAME KIND OF UNSELFAWARENESS THAT AFFECTS MOST TELEVISION PROGRAMS, OR "MOVIES", WITH "ZOMBIES" AS THEIR CENTRAL ELEMENT, WHICH CONSISTS IN TAKING ITSELF NOT SERIOUSLY ENOUGH TO A FLIPPANTLY IRONIC DEGREE.

I'll agree the fanbase is gay as fuck. But the show isn't horrible. This season was great. Minus the Nigga Turtle and Drew Carey's brother in the woods together with a goat. The prison arc also dragged on forever. As did season 2 despite the season having less episodes. But they have stepped up thier game this season.

but really its more like a 5/10 but theres so many shit shows that make it better.
i like watching it but theres to many times where it just feels cheaply made and like it has a crappy budget or crappy story. but rick is badass. its just enjoyable

WHY?
- Sasha, Abe and Daryl are leading the herd away. They get ambushed by an unknown group. Daryl flees on his bike after getting knocked off. Abe and Sasha crash their car and continue to open fire on the people that ambushed them. Daryl drives off into a burnt down part of forest.
- Daryl hides bike and continues on foot after suspecting someone is watching him. He finds two women cowering behind a tree. "You found us ok. We earned what we took". Daryl is knocked out by a guy from behind (Dwight)
- Daryl wakes up, wrists bound with rope. He tells Dwight "I ain't who you think I am." Walking along they explain how they burnt the forest down to clear the walkers when it all started.
- Pointing a gun at Daryl, Dwight asks if he's making a mistake by not pulling the trigger.
- Female captor faints and Daryl uses this chance to get away with their duffel bag containing his crossbow. Once far enough he realizes he has taken their much needed insulin.
- Abe and Sasha have gotten away and after Abe goes to kill a walker Sasha explains how he doesn't need to leave breadcrumbs. They find shelter in an office building.
- Daryl returns to the three captors and takes their gun, giving them back the bag. A van approaches with a group of men. Only their feet can be seen. "You're going to return what you took!" Dwight says, "We are not going back Wayne!" Daryl leads them to safety away from the men. He gives Dwight his gun back. The men leave.
- Abe goes on a run and finds a walker hanging from a bridge with a rocket launcher on its back. He leaves the walker after failing to gather it and finds some cigars. He has a smoke and watches the walker as it falls to the ground, leaving the launcher behind for him to take.
- Daryl leads the two captors to his bike after befriending them. The remaining two double cross Daryl, take his crossbow and bike, and drive off.
- Daryl finds a van and manages to find Sasha and Abe. As they drive off a voice is heard over the radio. "Help!"

You said it forgets its central element: zombies. The central element has always been the people and how they react to the world falling apart. Not saying you can't hate the show for being a character drama, but it's a character drama. To be honest I don't see how you can make a never ending zombie story any other way. If the core focus is zombies you'd have to make an anthology series.

Stopped watching mid-way through season 3 because they don't know how to be consistent with the characters.
Rick was either a complete bad ass and laying down the law, or he was a complete pussy and crying about some stupid shit, and the rest of the characters were pretty much the same. It's like the show was written by hormonal middle aged women.

The only thing that improved from season 1 is the acting, although you could argue that some of the bad season 1 acting was due to clunky dialog.
My biggest issue with the show is that it keeps trying to sell the idea that Rick is a capable and wise leader. He's a fuckup on wheels, and gets a lot of people killed with his sloppy plans and stupid ideas. But the show keeps contriving weak reasons to go "Yay Rick! Save us, Rick!"

Glenn lives, this much is 70% certain by the ambiguity of the scene. Yes, the scene sucked and realistically there is no way he will survive, but there was no need to show the intestines or them being on top of one-another
