michael shannon and jake gyllenhaal root out old god cultists in the mountainous south
State troopers or FBI in North/South Dakota or perhaps Alaska.
Plot involves Native Americans folklore, maybe skinwalker legends.
Depicts the absolute desolation and poverty of life on reservations.
Teasing at supernatural but never fully going there.

came here to post this, alaska is the best setting.
Is Doc Ock the best capeshit villain?
No. He doesn't hold up, sadly. The movie flip-flops between making him a tragic villain and 1 dimensional asshole

But that's when the arms are controlling him, remember that neurological chip frying?

maybe ties with cleo
both are the best of the new wave

I haven't seen them all but I was floored by this one. Beautifully shot and totally bittersweet. I found it interesting that the fact that the main character was blue collar had no bearing on the rest of the plot. Most films these days seem to only show upper middle class people who don't work with their hands, but in this one the protagonist is working class but totally respectable in every sense. Today's depiction of working class people seems to be of the Larry the cable guy variety.

>“I miss Rust Cohle, man,” McConaughey admitted on DirecTV’s Rich Eisen Show. “I miss watching him on Sunday nights.”
>The sentiment is not only shared by first-season True Detective viewers, but by HBO, which dealt with disastrous reviews when the second season of the Nic Pizzolatto-created drama, starring Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, and Colin Farrell, failed to live up to the first. In fact...

It wasn't the characters desu it was the shitty directing and writing
While that would be Great, what would it be about?
How would you rewrite the Stars Wars prequels, keeping the same general characters and plot points, but having it actually be good

In Episode 2 Jar Jar is revealed to be a Sith. Not even joking the movie seemed to have already be setting it up.
It wasn't a story that needed to be told. A film focused purely on Obi-Wan but completely different would have been okay.
I dunno but Disney will certainly show us in the next 10 years im sure

What Game of Thrones character do you identify the most with?
For me personally it's Jaime Lannister aka the Kingslayer. Incredibly gifted (im gifted intellectually), but not living up to his potential because of other interests. For him its his sister and for me it's quality films.

Yeah, you'd think they'd do something interesting with it.
The episode he's revived he walks away from The Wall, but then HE'S STILL THERE. His character literally didn't change except for being a little mopey for an episode or two. His goals are the same, his character is the same.
What was the point in killing him?
Maybe he'll die next ep (VERY UNLIKELY) and that would put a funny twist to the revival trope, but I doubt it.
