JLaw actually has an acting style that would really mesh with Quentin.

>“Luke Skywalker has vanished” read the first words of the iconic yellow-text scroll we've come to expect from each new entry in the Star Wars franchise, and with them J.J. Abrams has established a framework from which to construct the inaugural entry of this new trilogy: a search for the past that allows for liberal borrowing from its extant mythology's proven strengths.
>The Force Awakens is another of Abram's competent, reverential, and blessedly humorous reconstitutions of an established fantasy...

>A series of divine coincidences leads three of these four characters (Poe is estranged from the rest of the cast for much of the film) aboard the Millennium Falcon, which leads, like a homing beacon, to the smuggling freighter of its former owners, Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford). The new baddies—including a constantly screaming General Hux (Domhall Gleeson), the Vader-masked Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and a CGI hybrid of Galactus and Voldermort known as Supreme Leader Snoke—pursue our heroes, and inevitably, a certain series-rhyming...

>But The Force Awakens is still more or less a fetish object, a film that exists to inspire phrases like “It feels like Star Wars again” ad nauseam from a fanbase that equates the lasting impact of Lucas's prequels as something akin to PTSD. Its analog grain, practical effects work (shrewdly augmented with CGI), and the impression, at least, of a new story in this universe being told, rather than the predetermined one we were subjected to last time, lend Abrams's effort a baseline rejuvenation, one he and returning screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan...

Ok I never watched a Star Trek. And I think I start watching from a movies.
Is The Wrath of Khan good one to start ?
>And I think I start watching from a movies.
No.
>Is The Wrath of Khan good one to start ?
Yes. But no. Don't start watching from the movies.
Televised Trek is the superior Trek, the essential Trek, the real Trek.
Watch a Top Ten or Top Twenty episode list of TOS. If you like what you see, go back to the beginning and watch the whole show.
Watch the pilot of TNG, then try watching from the beginning of the third season. If you like what you see, go back to the beginning and watch...

If you're going to watch Wrath if Khan at least watch the episode Space Seed first.

why would you start a trek thread without a trek picture you cockgobbler? now it will take twice the work to keep the fire going
So fucking dissapointing. Villeneuve has great talent for creating suspense, but gets lost in action and his best directing feat consists of letting his cinematographer do the location filming. I think Sicario is the most poorly written film I've seen since Prometheus. At least Counselor didn't pretend its outbursts of prose were grounded in reality. This movie thrives on creating ludicrous plot resolution in order to fit in punchlines. I bet the fucker that wrote this envisioned the dinner scene and went ass backwards from there. It's like a fucking video game plot.
>muh video games
stop trying to force this meme you autist
A bunch of mad kiddos are going to try to refute you because they simply didn't notice.
>>64098313
But Villeneuve himself said that the whole night vision sequence was influenced by video game shooters.
Complete the sentence for her
I glad she moved from /v/ideogames to /tv/

What the fuck do you expect from Point Break? You might as well criticize TMNT for being unrealistic.
Maybe Point Break was made for bros, not trans women?
What movie has the most Mary Sue character you can think of?
>>64098156
Lucy, probably
An amateurish film with a major fault such as a Mary Sue isn't gonna get funded in most cases.
Harry Potter
Seriously, what the fuck was he thinking about?
Nothing.
Same as the people who paid to see it.
Who is this semen demon?

What did he mean by this?

Watched this for the first time today.
Based as fuck. A fantastic Christmas movie and a better action movie than any Marvel-brand piece of shit.
Made me think about how I want to make action shorts. Make the characters likable, and give them clear-cut goals.
Also, the fucking bantz in this movie were top-tier.

Do yourself a favor and don't watch any of the others besides maybe the third one, you'll regret it and they will ruin the series for you.
>>64098507
That's what I've heard. After seeing this one, I don't think they could follow up with some PG-13 piece of shit co-starring professional charisma vacuum Jai Courtney
Anyone see Concussion? Is it worth seeing? Will Smith get an oscar?

Holy fuck this was awful. Only got 20 minutes into the first episode and it was already full blown feminist drivel.
>all males are retarded or incompetent bible thumpers
>the females are the only ones who can do things right and are the only powerful characters
>edward iii portrayed as a pussy wimp
Digusting 0/10 whoever wrote this shit up should kill themselves. Worst tv show i've ever seen and thats saying something

Pillars was amazing though, so I am still going to check it out. The guy in the christmas thread said this was just subpar, which seems to be the general opinion now that I looked it up.
2015 etc
you are better off watching something older
>>64098968
Yeah im a big fan of historical fiction and series like 'the devil's crown' and 'i claudius' and 'les rois maudits' gave me a hard on. Even 'Rome' was pretty decent. But nowadays, you CANNOT find a good historical drama that isn't riddled with gender issues or muh diversity
>800mill in on week
Has another movie ever done so?
And now everyone who was going to see it has seen it. It will crack just a little over a billion then fade into obscurity.
James Cameron will kill himself. No one cares about Avatar 2.
I hope he comes with an original story and blow away Star Wars as the highest grossing movie ever.
