Per the usual, feel free to ask about where to go, what to do, how to do it, and what it will cost you or anything else Thailand travel related. The jet ski scam, the motorbike scam, navigating the BTS Skytrain system, and other Thailand related topics such as pad thai and also thai iced coffee.

That video needs balancing out.
>>975122
You're right. I hate Thailand video.

This video was made by the Thailand Tourism Authority, but it does have a seed of truth. As seen by my friend from the last thread who is now trying to only have "one time in Thailand". A lot of the diving instructors and such are like the guy in the video. Here's an amateur video, though. Showing more backpacker stuff.

Repost from the end of the dead thread:
Hey guys,
So I'm planning on doing some travelling while in college. I hopping to use only the money I make working and not my parents money. I have three trips planned
>One back home/or another western tropical area
>Europe. Most likely Germany
>Southeast Asia
I need a place for Southeast Asia, now my friends in college recommend Goa, India. I like this option because I can visit and stay with friends. One wants me to come to Malaysia and stay with them. However I doubt that will be fun.
My question to you guys is, is Thailand a better option? I have a $2000.00 - $2700.00 budget for Hotel and flight. I need a city or a place with clubs, a safe place
>>975126
The really good thing about that video is that if that actually happened the guy would be arrested and carted off to the Bangkok Hilton where he'd stay until his embassy could sort out enough money to pay for his flight home.
Goddamn do the Thai love selfies.
>>975383
I went with my GF and two of her Thai friends to a water park. I think they went on one slide and spent the whole the time just taking selfies.
>>975384
They could literally be walking to the store and it's an occasion for a selfie
>>975385
True, very true.
>>975383
that's not Thai specific though. Most girls take selfies almost all the time
Well, seeing as how everyone's posting selfies of their girls.
>>975394
Thailand has a special obsession with selfies and social media

>>975400
qt and nice boobs
>>975394
>>975394
It's a whole other fucking level with them. I reckon it's because they are so social media focused because they are too broke to actually go do anything.
>>975400
>selfies of their girls
>their girls
>girls
U sure about that m8?
What about those pics of bottles of alcohol?
At least 10 girls on my LINE have their display name as Sangsom Coke or Whiskey Coke in Thai.

An on topic question if you don't mind.
Taking about $1K to Thailand for 2 weeks, maybe a little less. How much should I change into BAHT, how much to swipe away or keep in reserve. What's the best way to change baht? Airport, money changer, before I leave or on arrival, or should I get it all at the ATM.
>>975421
Don't change it before you go, always get it in Thailand.
The best way to get Baht is any of the money changers which are everywhere in major cities. Don't change much at the airport, the rates are crap just enough to get you into the city.
If you're worried about cash then ATMs are everywhere although you'll get hit with a 180 Baht fee every time you use one, as well as whatever your home bank will charge which is normally a lot. So unless you're taking out 20000 at once it's not worth it.
Change it all at once or as you go, it doesn't really make much difference. Change any excess Baht back before you leave as the rates are better in Thailnd.
Hey guys, I'm from this lovely little island here, Antigua.
So I'm planning on doing some travelling while in college. I hopping to use only the money I make working and not my parents money. I have three trips planned
>One back home/or another western tropical area
>Europe. Most likely Germany
>Southeast Asia

>or should I get it all at the ATM.
Depends on your bank and card. Check the currency exchange fees on their website. Personally I just use ATM's as my bank doesn't charge much and I'm happier carrying a card than a huge pile of cash everywhere. I usually take out about 5000 bhat at a time. ATM's are everywhere.
>>975424
Also ATM exchange rates are actually good. It's a common misconception that you get ripped off at ATMs, Mastercard and Visa fx rates are better than any of the money changers or banks (not by much but they are better).
If you get asked whether you want to be debited in home currency when you use the ATM always select no. This is called Dynamic Currency Conversion and the idea is that you know exactly how much you're paying at the point you withdraw the cash. The big problem with this is that the they use is always really shit. Choose no and you get the proper Mastercard/Visa rate which is always good.
The problem is the extra charges by your home country's bank. If you have a card that doesn't charge you for using it abroad ATM are always t the best choice since most countries don't charge you to use them like Thailand does. However most people don't have these cards.

Left is best, girl in front is the last.
>>975400
Is she escirt/whore?
>>975433
Just a bad photograph. Here is front with and without makeup
>>975438
she looks the same to me in both not good looking below average even
>>975439
Vast improvement on how she used to look. I think her issue is she looks too "white" if that makes sense. But I wouldn't call her unattractive. I had at least one friend hook up with her and said her ass is amazing. My girl is in the middle, I admit, when she introduced me to the one on the left I was disappointed that I'd never be able to tap that. Now she has a nice ass you can see in her clothes, but so does my girl. I tried to get my friend to fuck her, and she wanted to fuck him. But he had his own girl and was a few weeks from heading back to the States, so was spending all his time with her, despite his manwhore ways.
I know everyone goes for escorts and like, but let's not dismiss the fact that good Thai girls make exceptional wives. If you don't act like the typical sex tourist, you may find yourself attracting a different tier of girls.
>>975460
Escorts haven't even been brought up (for once) except one guy asking if the plastic girl was a whore...until you, that is
Question for expats
How hard is it to find a girl in Thailand that
- Speaks decent English
- Although she wants to move abroad with a foreigner she's genuine and not a gold digger
- Generally good mother material
>>975464
>she wants to move abroad with a foreigner she's genuine and not a gold digger
finding a girl who want to actually live permently outside of Thailand is hard most who will move are going to be poorer
if they are middle class they will likely want to stay in Thailand National pride is strong as well as the family
>>975467
Ah, I see. Tbh I'd be worried about being fucked over by Thai divorce laws if that was the case. I've heard stories of expats buying a house in Thailand and then losing it all.
>>975468
Foreigners can't buy land in Thailand. Any house would have been in the girls name.
>>975470
Yeah that's why I'd be worried lol.
