Here*
In Michael Crichton's now-somewhat-dated travel book, "Travels," there is a chapter on climbing Kilimanjaro. He had a somewhat stressed time, as he seemed to have in a lot of his travels, due to not taking advice on how to be prepared for the hike seriously.
It is a book that is worth a read, but be prepared for the fact that the first section is about his "journey" from medical student to author, and the last part is about his "journey" into spiritualism and like new-age stuff. And it is in now way a "how to" travel book, it is more of a "why to" if anything. And it is very episodic.
All of which is interesting, even the parts that I thought were nonsense were entertaining. I even shed a manly tear when he said goodbye to the cactus. (Teased but not spoilered.)
