Looking to travel somewhere, but I'm running into a problem.

I'm a crappy tourist.

I'm looking for some place is the United States. I'm not looking to go sight-seeing (such as the empire state building, mount Rushmore, the grand canyon, etc.), and I don't do outdoorsy stuff (such as fishing in Alaska or horse-riding in Montana). I prefer stuff like Vegas where I can enjoy the night life, go to a show, enjoy fine food, gamble, and overall have a good time. You know, actually do stuff rather than see a rock or a piece of paper someone wrote 200 years ago.

What would you guys recommend?

Go to Vegas or it's less impressive places made for old fat women to play slots:
Atlantic City
Galveston
Reno

I live in Vegas, but Atlanta seems decent.
>>

Atlanta is a shit-hole. So is Atlantic City. Depressing as fuck.
>>
>>1134645
Then what are nice places with a fun-loving atmosphere in the US?
>>
>>1134635
los angeles
>>
>>1134635
I think Los Angeles is the place for you.
Once you get there maybe meet up with some peeps from /soc/ if you're in the right place.
>>
>>1134645
>Atlanta is a shit-hole. So is Atlantic City. Depressing as fuck.

Only for you, OP might really enjoy it. There's tons of shit he'd love right by ATL and he can take the MARTA anywhere else.

>>1134654
I've thought about it, but I've been to LA a good 5 times now. Also, I hate San Francisco. I'd be open to other places in California, but I'd like to experience other places in the US.
>>
>>1134655
No, Atlantic City really is a hole. You'd have to be pretty fucking desperate to view it as a fun getaway destination. If that's really the case, try a puppy instead.

Atlanta is a shithole like I said. It's just a big suburban sprawl. Creackheads, nigs, and nothing that interesting to do. CNN, Coke, an aquarium, whoopty-friggin' do, don't even waste your time. All the alternative or undeground shit that's supposed to be cool is also very meh. There are far better places to go.
>>
>>1134742
Please give recommendations, senpai.
>>
Honestly: go somewhere naturey for the day where you live, and give it your best to try to enjoy it. Go for a hike or something. If you don't like it whatever, but like 90% chance you will probably have a good time. And then you can enjoy more outdoorsy things
>>
>>1134635
Could probably do all that stuff in New York easy.
>>
>>1134759
I've been around nature. It's nice for what it's worth, but I need something lively.
>>
Boston? Lots of people, parks, shopping, pubs.
>>
>>1134635
A Carnival cruise, drinking, partying, gambling. DC, Adams Morgan for partying, plus always something going on there. San Diego, gas lamp district for partying. Gamble at Indian casinos in the mountain and Tijuana is right there
>>
>>1134742
All those things in ATL aren't things the OP would want to do anyway. OP said he liked

>like Vegas where I can enjoy the night life, go to a show, enjoy fine food, gamble, and overall have a good time

Outside of gambling, are you saying ATL doesn't have this? I have traveled from NC to ATL for small concerts in midtown (Frank Ocean before he blew up).

What alternatives do you have for the OPs interests? ATL is ATL for a reason, and the night life/partying is a big part.

>gas lamp district

Why name a district after some lamps?
>>
>>1134635
Detroit
>>
>>1135555
>When development of the area began in the 1860s, the area currently known as the Gaslamp Quarter was known as New Town, in contrast to Old Town, which was the original Spanish colonial settlement of San Diego. Though Gaslamps were not the main source of lighting in the district, it was chosen as the symbol for the "Gaslamp Quarter" during the redevelopment and preservation efforts that occurred during the 1980s. In actuality, the main source of lighting was arch lighting.

It's a portmanteau of gas chambers and human skin lamps, a reference to the rampant anti-semitism of its denizens.

I have a system to avoid my trips going stale where I distinguish time spent into 4 type of categories.

>Activities, hobbies, interests

Scuba diving, rock climbing, running, hackerspaces, hiking/camping, hunting, junk food/snacks specific to the country, cinema I fucking love going to see foreign films in random languages I don't understand, go to libraries..

>Metropolitan
It's the most expensive and burns the least amount of time. Visiting shops, window licking, walking around town, taking the subway, go places locals go and buy stuff, sit at caffes, buy more stuff I know I'll throw away. Look at design stuff, clothes, buildings, parks..

>People tourism
I go see people. Friends, sex buddies, penpals, long distance skype friends, guides, social media contacts, my parents and crab people.

>Todo
It's never really my main objective but it's always an emergency pool of stuff to do. Eiffel tower, Lincoln memorial, Temple, famous castle, famous landmarks, famous museum.. It's always that BIG THING that everyone does when they arrive somewhere famous.
>>
>>1134642
Fuck Atlanta. OP sounds like you would like new orleans
>>
>>1134635
Go to Thailand, It has hookers for cheap and it's awesome.
>>
>>1135555
It's a reference to a place in San Diego where they dump gas on homeless bums before setting them on fire. They light up the night like lamps.
>>
Crimea.

The entire beach is blanketed in bars and nightclubs.

Years ago I dated this Ukrainian girl and Crimea is the Russian Ibiza ,ask the locals about mideavil fighting at the castle.

Siberia Skying party (also going on right now), if You like to Drink and Being Naked in freezing weather then You are crazy.

Turkey, The Russians where the biggest source of Revenue for tourism 3 years ago, they are Hungry for tourists, find out why Turkey was the Number 1 spot for Rich Russian tourists.

apex kek, I live in San Diego and I really wish that was the case.
>>
>>1134635
New Orleans, Miami (beach), LA, Chicago (in the summer)
>>
Still waiting specifically to hear what's bad about Atlanta in relation to what the OP is looking for.
>>
>>1137577
Nothing, it's perfect for him. Anons are just talking trash because they know it has a lot of black people. OP won't even encounter the ghetto ones in the places he would go. I think Dallas and Reno are also good choices.
>>
>>1137755
this
>>
>>1137755
Yeah its definitely the black people that make atl suck. It isnt the traffic, the lack of transit, the suburban sprawl, the fact that its basically a overgrown suburb that has nothing to offer you cant find elsewhere. Atl is the poster child for a modern american soulless city.
tl;dr youre a moron
t. /n/
>>
>>1137755
Even if it was 100% white atlanta just reeks of mediocrity dont go unless you have a job there

>Then what are nice places with a fun-loving atmosphere in the US?
D.C. has a little for everyone, is crazy safe and prosperous in most neighborhoods 24/7, good public transport, and awesome foodie mecca for international food. Spy museum vs free smithsonians vs art and architecture. Of course history. Music, live local bands vs big productions/shows. Fly into DCA and get easy connections to your hotel, and other public transport. Sail at sunset. Drink with views of the monuments. Bar trivia with CIA types in the crowd. Some immersion in some cultures to be had like little saigon, and some of the best food trucks in the world.

Jump onto Washingtonian magazine and see what to do this week. There's a lot of great weekend trips too, esp if you live self-drives, with short waterfall hikes or seeing bears, antiques, country food or wineries.

P.S. Summer is hot as shit in a city. If you are planning to go somewhere to do something like walk around and not hibernate all day, might actually enjoy going to Miami Beach where it can be 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the country in summer.

Vancouver Canada, whale watching, mountain gondolas. Grizzly bears, World class fishing, Open air Markets, Shopping Bike around Stanley Park, dine out overlooking the Harbour, beautiful beaches in English Bay, Visit Whistler, mountain to mountain gondola. Victoria is only a ferry ride away, and its glorious, River rafting, Jet boating Harbour cruises, Skuba diving, awesome farm tours, Golf, ski, sailing all in one day. Awesome food and atmosphere. Us dollar is worth a buck thirty.
