So, I have the opportunity to relocate to any state in the United States save for Hawaii. What state should I move to? Why? I'm currently in Texas.
>>
I'd have to vote Madison, WI.
>>
You already live in best state

Enjoy your $4000/month box apartment, hipsters living off Daddy, insane traffic all day every day and millions of Chinese tourists.
>>
>>1126411
I will second this. I don't even live in the US so I'm not biased. Madison is:

>right on the water
>in close proximity to tons of young people
>reasonably affordable
>lots of nice old houses
>forward-thinking urban planning
>lots of free and good museums
>cheap beer
>the best beer
>>
You already live and know the United States. Go where you want, you idiot.

If I could choose it would be Oregon or Washington. Take that for what you will.

I've heard great things. It's one of the best cities in America or one of the best college towns. Something to that effect.
>>1126418
True. I'm in Austin and there's much I like about it, however, there are some deal breakers. Traffic is just horrendous most of the time. The real estate and renter's markets are way overpriced. I could never own a home here alone. Any other city suggestions in Texas? Preferably with a strong economy, less traffic and less crazy people.
>>1126436
Are fine. Personally if I could live in a smaller city that was safe and peaceful that'd be great. Austin is a lot like Portland. There's a large mentally ill, homeless population that causes trouble. There's also a lot of people who are just weird, which is fine because Austin is known for that, but it's not my cup of tea.
>>1126459
I'd like nothing to do with any of that.
>>1126462
Sounds good. I don't drink for health reasons though. I like beer though. I guess in other words night-life isn't very important for me. That might sound heretical, but I'm at a point in my life where bars, nightclubs, and discotheques don't really do it for me. Everything else sounds wonderful though. Especially the water.
>>1126464
I think you'd be surprised just how much the states vary, even culturally alone. They're United legally and in name only for the most part. I've thought about the Pacific NW, but I'd have to do more research or at least visit first.
>>1126468
That's true. Public transportation is really lacking here though. With uber and lyft shutting down, it's gotten worse.

The weather and bland midwestern culture is kinda a dealbreaker
>>
>>1126462
It's also fucking frozen.

Do not move up north, op. Northwest coast would be my choice.
>>
>>1126462
At best, Madison is just a shit version of Minneapolis.
>>
>>1126553
I've lived in Austin for the past 7 years and I gotta say, I don't blame you for wanting to move.
>horrendous traffic
>overpriced everything
>weather is ass every single day
>mexican ghettos fucking everywhere
>hipsters everywhere
>hippies who flocked here from Cali back in the 2000s everywhere
>"booming" tech industry is pretty much an outright lie
>live music scene that Austin is respected for is more or less a lie too
>SXSW is shit
Oh and there aren't any jobs either. I honestly don't get why people keep moving here.
>>
Move to Raleigh senpai. shits so good
>>
>>1126652
Care to elaborate?

>Raleigh
bro lives in ramampo and he loves it there. its a great area, but too hot IMO. nonetheless, great people and great community. NC is fucking in right now, and hopefully it doesnt go out anytime soon
>>
>>1126681
sorry, i meant to say charlotte. i dont know why i thought ramapo for some reason.
>>
Move to North Carolina.

-Even balance of seasons
-Educated work force
-Versatile outdoor environments (beaches in the East, mountains in the West)
-One of the original 13 Colonies
-Strong job market
-Hasn't been ruined by Mexicans yet

I won't likely move there, but I have a fondness for the Midwest in that I went to college in Ohio. Bonfires, comfy autumns, long winters, qt college girls, etc.

>>1126644
Yes to all of that and more. I'm coming up on my fourth year and I want to get the hell out honestly. Where to start though in agreeing with you? The weather is dreadful. When it's not hot and humid and I'm not sweating like a Mexican pornstar, it's biblically flooding somewhere near me. Yes, everything is overpriced now--groceries, entertainment, non-food essentials, etc. Traffic is just tragic. Californians, Mexicans, hipsters oh my. I came here to be with family and now they've left so I'm unfettered. The job scene isn't that hot. I could care less about nightlife. Otherwise, cons and festivals don't appeal to me but I will certainly take your word for it. I want out of this place so bad.
