What's this? No eternal San Francisco travel thread? Guess I'll make one.

Okay, so I'll be in San Francisco for 5 days in June. I know it's going to be an amazing place to visit (I was there 9 years ago as a teen, and my fondest travel memories are from there). I haven't really begun building my day to day itinerary though. All I know is that we will be doing a ton of walking, we'll take a day trips to Yosemite (guided tour. Worth it?) and Napa Valley, and we'll be doing some dining at the best restaurants.

So from people who frequest SF/live there, can you point me out to some places that I absolutely can not miss (preferably relating to food)? Whether these places are already in a travel guide or not, doesn't matter. Thanks!

Lumbar street? The golden gate bridge?

SF isn't really all that exciting of a city, tbqh.

Sounds like you know nothing about the city.

Sutro Bath Ruins. It used to be a large indoor swimming pool until it burned down. Pretty cool at night.
Bernal Heights. Good view of the city.
The wave organ
555 Mission Street Sculpture Garden
Alcatraz. I hear the night tour is pretty cool. Book it fast though.
Marin headlands, but not Muir Woods
Walk up or down California Street
Burma Superstar. Get the samusa soup!
Marnee Thai
The Little Chihuahua. I'm sure other people have better taquerias in mind but it's pretty good.
Blue Bottle for coffee
You might see wild parrots in the city. I used to see them often when I lived in Lower Haight.
Stay away from Civic Center. It's gross. UN Plaza is fucking gross.

Sure.

I’m skipping the Mission, Haight-Ashbury, and Castro since you can find lots of info on those neighborhoods online.

The city has some comfy music venues. I like Great American Music Hall, Bottom of the Hill, The Independent, and Rickshaw Stop.

Nob Hill has some nice bars. I like the hard ciders at Upcider.

Marina is pretty boring, but there is SusieCakes with their delicious vanilla celebration cakes.

Up north past GG Bridge, there's Tomales Bay Oyster Company or Hog Island Oyster Farm for oyster shucking.

Further north in Napa, you can rent bikes and just cycle around.

Even further north, you have Fort Bragg where there's a beach with smooth sea glass.

Back to SF and then east, you have Oakland. It’s warmer and pretty nice. Good taco trucks. Mountain View Cemetery is very scenic. Black Dahlia is buried there somewhere. Ghiradelli too.

The Trappist and Beer Revolution are nice bars near Oakland’s Chinatown. Nearby, Battambang is a Cambodian restaurant with amazing crab fried rice and papaya salad. Stuffed quail is pretty good too. In North Oakland, there’s Zachary’s Chicago Pizza. It’s verrry filling.

Lake Merritt in Oakland is pretty nice. It’s also a bird refuge so you might see egrets, coots, etc. On Saturdays there is a big farmer’s market.

South of SF, the drive along Big Sur is amazing.
