So, I was planning on driving around Arizona and New Mexico, and I figured out that one of my areas I would be near is the Sasabe Border Checkpoint.

This is in north Sonora, right on the border. I don't have much interest in travel inside Mexico, but I do want to get that passport stamp, and I'll be close. I'm just worried about the safety, plus what the customs might think of me driving across the checkpoint, and then right back an hour or so later.

Anyone ever been? Sasabe Border Checkpoint is the least used on the border, I've heard an average of less than 200 people cross a day.

I'm also going to have to contact my recruiter, but I'm going to BMT in a few months and wondering if having a Mexico passport stamp will raise eyebrows. I didn't think it was against the rules, but someone did tell me that it was forbidden for people in the military to go.
>>
And I guess one last question; Do I need a special drivers license to drive into Mexico? I'd literally be driving in and then back.

The car is a rental, and I'd ask about it there for insurance.

Your u.s license will be fine in mexico, the car has to have a permission slip but I think that's only if you go past the states lines on the other end so you might be fine if you're just going to the border, as for the checkpoint you might be fine if you tip the guy. Traveling is dangerous at night, you'd have to be unlucky to get stopped by cartels at night and even more so during the day

So going to Egypt would probably be a no no as well then.
>>
>to get that passport stamp
I don't thinkg they stamp your passport at that border. Maybe if you ask for it then they will
>>
>>1116481
just don't act stupid or wave your money around and you'll be fine.
>>
>>1116481
>going to mexico for 20 minutes just to get a stamp

You are cancer. Nobody is impressed with your "stamps" you little faggot.

Wew, lad. Not trying to impress, I'm just trying to see for myself how many countries I can visit. I don't suppose there's anything to do near the border in Sasabe, anyway. I was going to be nearby hiking and figured, why not?
>>
If you're driving be sure to check if your insurance covers you in Mexico. If not, you can probably get some cheap insurance right in the border for the time you'll be in the country.

If you're worried about safety, you need to check whether the individual towns you'll be going good are ok. Big cities like Juarez and Tijuana are not safe, but smaller ones are usually ok, as long as you use common sense (>>1116762) and don't travel at night.

Be sure to get some nice food while there, but avoid eating on street carts.
>>
You go across there and they will be finding your headless torso swinging from a bridge while your hands and head are fed to the pigs.
But your passport will come in handy for the cartel.
>>
I think you'll have trouble with the vehicle. Except in Baja AFAIK you need to put a bond down on the vehicle, which needs to be arranged beforehand. Plus insurance. Plus you'd need some sort of authorization from the rental agency (which they won't give). Just really doesn't sound worth it. If you want to get across just walk across and eat a taco and come back.

sorry bro, u cannot go to mexico
>>
>go to san diego
>park you car on the us side of the border crossing
>use the pedestrian path to tijuana
>get stamped
>take a cab to the red light district
>penetrate females
>take cab ride back
>walk across the border
>get in your car
>go to disneyland

TJ during the day is surprisingly calm and safe, never been there at night though.

This guys are very outdated, juarez and tijuana are pretty chill now, is the border in tamaulipas and texas the one you should avoid now, there was some news about it this last spring break (as you gringos know it)

You do know that they make more money with a thriving sex industry. Also, caring that you live afterwards, laugh out loud. They would rather have the two kidneys.

I like that there is a negotiating down there. When things are slow, it's amazing what you can get for the money. It actually makes you think twice about wasting money on strippers, masseuses, and escorts.

It also puts how expensive Disneyland is into perspective.
