I pretty much stay in my car, so renting a hotel room is a little pricey. Any ideas where I can get a cheap shower? I've heard truck stops have public showers, but they can be expensive.

Truckers get those shower tickets for free from fill ups, coffee purchases, meals, etc. So they always have a stack in their glovebox. Usually if you offer to wash the bugs off their windshields/hoods for a shower ticket they'll either take you up on the offer or just give you one. Also like I told another anon, find a Labor Ready, they're a chain of labor agencies. Basically you register the day before, give them ID and watch a safety video, go in at maybe 6 AM, wait til 8 drinking coffee, then they call you up and you get a ride to and from the job site. Bonus points if you got your own transportation. Best thing is they often have a machine you can deposit your paycheck into and it spits out the amount in cash, like at the casino. When you're down and out, that 70 bucks makes all the difference.

Go to a public pool they usually havve a shower that you can use and if you go during tthe right time you can get a discount
If you're in the US, try a gym membership to a chain like 24 hour fitness or planet fitness. You can use their showers. My buddy does that for her drives without a hotel.

This. Fitness. Just hit the upper or lower body machines 10 minutes, or suit up for the hot tub, so someone doesn't say something to you.
I had the county replacing all the water pipes, updating infrastructure, turning off water 4hrs a day every other day to work..lasted for months. I did a gym membership. But before that? I used to swim at the university pool (or some other facility/park where you pay admission). If you are paying $12/shower at Pilot, surely you can research something more enjoyable. Pools require bathers shower off before entering (by law). I wouldn't recommend beach showers, might be hard to get the privates.
