Great city. Still evolving, but it feels a bit too cosmopolitan. Feels like a global city, meaning, it could really be placed anywhere (unless you start to venture outward).

yes

I see Shanghai in two parts. There's the more developed areas with beautiful buildings and a very modern feeling for a lack of a better word. Then there's places that are less developed with street markets, cheap, but very nice food and old buildings. It's hard to describe because my memory is really bad, but overall it's still my favorite city.

Exciting, like all Chinese megacities, but more accessible than most. Feels a lot less Chinese than Beijing. I prefer Beijing except for the air quality, but I understand why so many foreigners dig Shanghai.

Thoughts on living in Shanghai? Are there too many seedy areas? I'm considering teaching there after Korea. I love Seoul because it's easy to stay out of the poorer areas. Would the quality of life be similar to first-world for an expat there?
