Seriously, as long as you have enough money and decent interests Germany is a lot of fun. I love cars, so I drove across Germany to the Nurburgring (20 km racetrack) and did 6 laps. Also toured the Audi & BMW factories. And spent 3 days at Oktoberfest. If you're into outdoorsy stuff, there's plenty of skiing, hiking, etc. There's even surfing in Munich. Not to mention the food being pretty dope too. Best Italian food I've had was at a cafeteria in Ingolstadt. If you go just to be a travel bum with no real plans it might suck I guess
