Were has /trv/ been, as a community? Here is a starter-map. It shows where I've been, List countries I need to add based on where YOU'VE been. I'll update the map every so often.
(I'm doing it at the country level because I do not want to get into "No, that fiddly little unlabeled district in Colombia is two up and one over from the one I was in..." I'll remove "trip planned" and the wish list on the first update -- this is ONLY where we've been.)

Im all down to do this OP but I opt that we use this map. Is it really correct to say that someone has seen the giant fucking blob of earth we call Russia just because they had a day trip to Moscow? There are so many regions so culturally different within the same country.

As per your request I used a slightly different shade of purple, although not that much different to keep it uniform looking. Might be a bit sloppy because I didn't study a map too hard, but its close. As far as Afghanistan goes, I am an ex mil guy. I'm a civilian now, and I just do a lot of backpacking around places. I assure you though, that I got a hell of a good tour of those places in Afghanistan. I was a dismounted infantryman, so I pretty much did daily patrols walking around through villages and mountains and shit over 24 months total time in country.

I personally am curious about what countries /trv/ likes the most and which they've visited repeatedly. I was considering making a sort of survey thread, where people can post color-coded maps that show where they live, which countries they've visited, and the number of times (up to, say, 10) they've visited particular places. We could sort of compile a list of "/trv/'s favorite" destinations, overall, and by region.

I'm a little confused as to what's happening here. As I understood it we were going to list the countries we've been to and OP was going to add them to a /trv/ collective map and it was not intended to do a per-region thing, but some people seem to have run with their own maps, different colours etc and OP hasn't used a tripcode or put in a name to their 'official' map updates (one of the few times tripfagging comes in handy). Maybe I'm just being dense though.
Anyway, if I was right in my assumption and OP is doing a /trv/ collective map here are my contributions for him/her to add:

The subdivisions are political units, there is no implied cultural difference. People here like such maps because it prevent somebody from visiting one city in China and one in Russia and coloring in most of the world. It is somewhat more indicative of where you have actually been.

No job, this was when I was from 12-16 years old. Teen Missions International was founded in my grandpa's backyard. So we would have missionaries come and go staying at our place, so of course I was able to go on some mission trips. laying electric lines in Iceland for a huge woodstock-esque concert, building a garden for AIDS orphans in South Africa, and building a Russian "banya" (similar to a sauna) in Siberia. Then I was able to go on the Trans-Siberian railroad all the way to Beijing through Mongolia.
For the other places, both my parents were in the military so we lived all over the US and in Germany. While in Germany we traveled around Europe. I haven't traveled since I was 16 though :(
