>>1087878 >What are some countries/regions that learning their language will serve you best with? A country where not everyone has perfect English, and they appreciate it a lot when you learn their language. As a Westerner with fluent Thai, I can say that Thai people are often impressed and delighted by foreigners speaking good Thai. Those of us who can read and write are an even more amusing party trick.
The downside is that it is not a useful language anywhere but Thailand and Laos... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>1087978 Oh, and was also going to say that anywhere off the tourist track in Thailand (almost the entire Northeast, rural parts of the North, many inland/non-beachy Southern areas), there isn't much English. Even in the most sophisticated parts of the country the quality of English is rarely high among the general population.
>>1095020 Creepiest shit? There was a black guy and his Chinese girlfriend in one house. The kitchen door was always open even though there is a sign telling to keep it closed and the air current just channels smoke from the smoking area to the kitchen. So one day I was in the kitchen with the chinese girl, someone started smoking so I closed the door. The girl immediately left and instants latter the black guy came angry about how I'm not supposed to close the door even if there is a fucking sign on it telling to keep... Comment too long. That happened to me as well. Me and my father were looking for the palace gardens in Marrakesch and everybody said they were closed. Some guy said they were open and asked us to follow him. When I realised we were going through empty alleys I got suspicious and faked stomach ache so we went back I'm so sure we would've been robbed.
So maybe I should've written it down in the OP but since nothing happened I can't say for sure if it was a dangerous situation or not.
>>1092762 If you don't have to pay for it, no question. If you have to pay for it, only if you are rich enough to never have to care about money. I think it's lovely, without question much better than economy. But I think it's overpriced, and I can survive anything for 24 hours or less of transit time.
Apart from the food and from crazy suite-class services, I think business is good enough for me when I want a bit more comfort. And I've even paid for it a few times. But there too, I prefer it on someone... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Integrate in Japan? Not possible. No matter how perfectly you speak English, no matter if you marry a Japanese girl and her father adopts you into the family name and business and your last name changes to Sato, you'll still be viewed as an outsider, basically a dog walking around in people clothes that's been cleverly trained to mimic human speech.
> Also any tips on how I can find a native qt 3.14 to show me around Japan when I get there?

Going to Toronto (from New York) for 3 days in the beginning of April since I'm bored, have never been there, and have a few days off. Hockey Hall of Fame and a Laffs game are guaranteed, but looking for a few more suggestions of things not to miss. Blue Jays are away the days I'm there, is the CN Tower cool or just tourist bait? Aquarium?
been there recently, many people say the CN tower is overrated but I had fun, pic related - you get a birds eye view of the blue jays stadium and stuff
also another good thing to do is to rent a bike and go to the Toronto island for the day, it's great, I'll post a shit photo of what it looks like on the way back, looks really good if you can time it right and get the ferry home as the sun sets
...And the best thing about your least favorite country? Post 'em. >Worst thing about Scotland Thanks to the Highland Clearances centuries ago, and English-style tombstone architecture in modern times, there are very few 'quaint and picturesque' towns or villages in Scotland. The economy in mid-sized towns is usually horrendous, and it shows. >Best thing about Vietnam Authentic Pho. I just wish they didn't make you eat it for breakfast.
Frenchie here. I'm going to visit my sister who's moving to Montréal. I'm going to move at the end of January because it's the only moment i'm free. So far i can find flights for 650€ to go from Genova to Canada. Is it a decent price ? Also some guys told me i should not travel there for the winter because "it would be too cold for me". Is it true ? I live in the Alps some i'm used to live with -15°/-20° and snow everywhere in winter.
Also any places to recommand ? I'm planning to stay 2/3 weeks in Canada.
that's a decent price but youu can probably find cheaper if you search around a little more. I used to find flights from London to the central US for between 500-550 euro, but maybe flights from Genova are more expensive since it's a smaller airport. Wait until September before you buy the tickets, anyway; there's no reason to buy 10 months in advance. It can get a lot colder than -20 in montreal, but it'll definitely be a picturesque time to visit.
If you really want the cheapest flight, check out Wow air. Montreal to Reyjavik for $100, and then a lot of connecting flights to Europe for $150.
It wont be too cold for you. There's an off chance it could be -40 or something, but nobody does anything when it's that cold outside anyways. Below -20, things don''t usually seem much colder. There's no humidity, so you don't get as cold.
Hey OP, I'm French too. I subscribed to Air France's deal. You can get direct flight from Paris to Montreal for around 550-650 euros, if you book it at least 40 days before. Just wait for the special deals. It happens at least once every 2 months.
/trv. has pretty consistently opposed adding flags every time somebody brings it up, over a number of years.
Reasons include the fact that flags lead to shitposting about the flags on boards that have them, and where a person is posting from (or using a proxy from) add nothing to the discussion and lead to people judging posts based on an irrelevant and often fraudulent indication of where a person is at the moment, etc.
But if we want to go through it again, I would... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
