I've lived all my life across the strait from it in Melbourne, but I've never visited it once. I'd really like to though, it looks really beautiful for camping plus I know a lot of great food comes from there. Hobart looks super comfy too.

Now I've seen everything.
Can we have a general Europe trip thread.
Ask and post all things Europe here. With most people, if they have not already, booking their euro trip flights in the next few weeks, I think it's fitting.
What are some must see countries?
I want to go in the end of June to Barcelona, Rome, Sarajevo, and the Greek islands. Is it doable in 3 weeks?
Do you guys recommend booking a direct flight to Barcelona and then a flight from Athens to home? In between, booking flights to Rome, Sarajevo and Athens with Ryan air for example?
Also post which...

This seems a good thread to ask.
I'm planning a two month Trip To Europe. Starting From Morzine in France, down to Madrid, Back along the West Coast of France, into Germany, and then a plane to the UK. A lot of this will be backpacking. Now the one thing I wasnt able find was this.
What do you guys do for food while traveling? I imgaine a lots of fruits and veggies I will carry. But what about Meat and Drink? And how I would carry it effectivly without adding to much weight. I've never Traveled before so besides the anxiety I have to travel, I have no...

Hey /trv/ was wandering if any of you guys have visited Iceland during the summer time? Long story short I fucked up on buying an iceland air ticket that I can not refund and might as well use the credit before it expires.

I refuse to visit unless they set up a Skyrim replica village/amusement park.
One of my favorite places I have travelled. Been 4 times and planning on a fifth trip. I biked the ring road once which was torture, but worth it and rented a shitty Suzuki to drive around the second time. From Us east coast it is restively cheap to get there too
>>1070619
Hands down the most boring place I have visited. Sorry to tell you this OP.
Hey guys,
Whats the best scandinavian country in terms of non-believers, weather, income and food?
Don't want to live in shitty germany anymore.
greetz
Without doubt Norway!! Because lots of work, beautiful scenery, hot teens, and no muslims!
They're less religious in any other Nordic country than Norway. But definitely Norway or Denmark in terms of income. The Weather in Sweden is probably better, as it rains less (unless living on the West coast) due to it's placement.

We always seem to discuss travel things we dislike, or the walking memes we encounter, what travelers do you love?
My favorite is the old British business man. These guys are usually mad cool, have great stories and insight, and won't let you spend a dime. Pic related. Irish banker and his GF I hung with for a few days. Even stayed in his business suite at a 5 star hotel, because it had an extra bedroom.

Well memed, op
let's do this
which places you have been to or lived /trv? and where do you go next?

how was china?
What is the most lucky expierience you have had while travelling? One that probably very few people have had the opportunity to feel, one that you were in the right moment in the right place?
pic related, goat sacrifice ritual in Nepal I was invited to while volunteering in a rural village.
This is really cheesy, but accepting who I am. I won't go into details cause this ain't a blog, but traveling has made me more whole as a person
I went on a national park boat tour near Seward AK and we saw every fucking possible thing there was to see.
It felt like I was living in a brochure for a day.
We bumped into family friends while vacationing in Canada. And I had my first date on a vacation in Georgia. We live in Ohio.

Good for you, anon. Any sort of happiness requires at least a little cheese.

So I just interviewed for an ESL job, and during the interview the recruiter (who is Japanese) mentioned that Japanese men can be quite the pigs with harassment and all that, and told me to watch myself if I ever went to dinner or drinking with coworkers.
I was pretty surprised, she even said they were worse than Western guys. Anyone have any experience with this? I know about Japan's misogyny and the like, but this was actually surprising to hear.
Anyone been here?
Apparently you don't even need a visa to go there and get a 15 day entry stamp on arrival.

It's safe inside KRG unlike other parts of iraq, especially in cities from what I read
Spent a week there, pretty boring to be honest. Kirkuk was exciting, but not at all safe so I don't recommend it.
pro tip: never mention an interest in travel on a resume or in a job interview
just learned about this the hard way
>>1072527
tell your story next time rather than just making us guess at what happened
>>1072540
well there isn't really much of a story to tell, I'm just giving a simple caution
travel was on my resume as an interest, and I was bombarded with questions about ow long I was planning to stay in the position, whether I would request time off, whether I was committed to the role.
mentioning I traveled in an islamic country provoked a visibly poor response as well
I found it rude and offensive, but it's something that must be expected to some degree
>>1072544
If you don't request do you never have time off?
Me and two friends wish to travel to Germany in March for a week. All three are 20-25 .
Our current plan stands at 4 nights at Berlin, 3 nights at Hamburg and one day at Kiel.
We wanted to visit one of us' relatives that lives in Kiel.
We contracted them and they told about the current situation in Germany not being... well.. safe.
We received a lot of stories about rape, murder and other kinds of violence.
I made a quick check (google), and got a nice result. pic related.
Any chance someone who lives there can share a little bit of opinion on the...

How many news about an American who got shot do you read a day?
How many times did you get shot?
Apply the same principle to getting raped in Germany.
well memed.
/trv/,
I spend hours looking at the most remote places in Africa (most often the west coast) and I just want to hear from people who have been to the most remote places on the continent.
What did you see and do, what were the people like, where were you and what made you go there ??
Thanks all !!
(Pic related - Turtle Island Sierra Leone)
Spent a lot of time in Mozambique for work. Met up with a lot of friends way out in the bush as well. Every city has it's own day throughot the year with a big celebration, which were always fun as well.
People there are great, if you're fine with doing things the local style it can be cheap as fuck (Hitching rides of around 1000km for about $3, and the driver will usually offered snacks)
>>1078266
DRC and Sahara are last remote places.
This is what Lonely Planet has to say about the Central African Republic: "The lack of development has left large swathes of lush rainforest, which still teem with wildlife, including thousands of gorillas and elephants. Travellers can float among wild rivers into an Africa that the world thought no longer existed. As rich life looms in its darkest jungles, warmth, generosity, and pride steadfastly survive in the hearts of its people. CAR is Africa at its most raw."
>>1078531
Not true at all.
How do you keep in contact with the people you meet in hostals? Last summer i added like 50 people on fb and only talked to 4-5?????
Delete the ones I don't keep in touch with unless they're interesting enough/I know I'm headed to their town/city one day. Nowadays though, I only really grab the contact info of people I care to be in touch with.
And I stay away from the obvious networkers
>>1078185
I don't keep contact.
First year of traveling it was "OH MY GOD LETS BE FRIENDS FOREVER ILL VISIT YOU IN YOUR COUNTRY". Second year it was "yeah add me, we'll keep in touch, i'll let you know if Im near you".
Now I just politely ask them to add me, and don't accept the friend request unless I'm sure I'll see them again this particular trip.
>>1078185
Yeah, in my experience people don't really keep in touch with people they meet in hostels. I'll accept people who add me on Facebook and gladly see how they're getting on, but there's no point trying to stay friends with someone you probably won't ever see again. There's a few people who I might hit up for a drink if I went to their home cities, but that's about as far as it goes.
I will be spending summer 2016 in Kyrgyzstan learning Russian, and this will end 10 days before university starts again. Where should I fly to while I'm on that side of the globe? The only limitation I have is that I can't take multiple flights (like visiting 5 cities in a short span of time). At the most I can visit 2 cities (like Istanbul and Rome, for example).
What is the best place to go? I can stay in Kyrgyzstan and just see various tourism destinations in the country, which include skiing, trekking, and visiting bazaars.
You could pop into Tajikistan or Uzbekistan. It would definitely boost your RealTavelerâ„¢ rating.
>>1076143
Well worth going into Uzbekistan, and specifically to Samarkand, which is breathtaking, full of amazing historic sites. Bukhara and Khiva maybe also too.
>>1076211
Are those areas safe for Americans? Uzbekistan isn't that stable right?
