So I watched that 41 minute critique of SU that keeps getting posted around. I didn't disagree with most of it. My biggest disappointment with the show is the wild swings of characterization the gems have simply for the sake of melodrama in a given episode. I have fewer problems with the animation critique but I see his point.
Still like the show but it had a pretty decent rundown of some the bad feelings I had about a

The show haven't ended yet. I'm sure that Steven's character will grow more, and from the more recent episode description it sounds like he's about to grow up a lot. But yeah, it seems that in the fandom (mostly on tumblr) he certainly seems to be a secondary character

You're right we still have an entire series to finish. Here's hoping for more growth and progression rather than shock and reveal. That's all I really want anyway is to see good characters gradually evolve over time. It's a tried and true method that works most of the time. But it's hard for me to really appreciate it when I've cemented through roughly seventy episodes or so and the characters haven't really grown.
