>Starbound
The only early access game on steam that was nearly done and they made everything worse to force a story. And made boss fights shit because people "Exploited" Building.
>>596729
Funny how that works, the universe and lore is the thing that makes me come back to Starbound over, say, Terraria.
>>593641
>you will never meet that weird hylotl people for the first time
>One will never take a thing for you
>she will never seduce you into fish on mammal sex for the first time.
>You will never go back into some nice village she lives.
>It will never be difficult because half of the thing in under fucking water
>She will never try to help you by rubbing daily nice lotion herbs on your body for an unknown reason
>You will not discover you are turning into a slippery, slim and shiny hiotl beaulty.
> You will not be scared, as your humanity fades away and your third eye opens up and get the best sex of your life
>you will never discover the next day she is away to space, the other hiotls explaining thats a secret breeding program to boost their especies numbers.
>You will never be inseminated the old way and after a while give birth to a hundred of fish eggs while your hylotl "girlfriend" comes back with a new human girl that seems as oblivious as you were, but you will feel she might prefer here than an dirty human space station.
>I will never know why I wrote that.
>>596729
I like it tho, the game is nice if I want to go for the history I can, if not I kinda ignore it. The journals and books are interesthing and how the chracters react to equipment depending on race is nice.
>>596904
>I will never know why I wrote that.
Actually fucking lol'd
>>596729
So you'd rather it be Terraria 2.0 as opposed to being closer to its own thing?
I bet you're one of the fucks who thinks Wolf should have come back in sm4sh, you fucking retarded shitstain that probably is one of those fucking aliens LITERALLY COMPOSED OF SHIT
>>597011
OH LOOK I'M RETARDED SPOILERS DON'T EXIST HERE HAHAHAHA
Makes me wonder why Terraria doesn't have that much porn like Starbound.
>>598092
Well, Terraria doesnt get more than some monsters and humans. Starbound has plant people, fish frgo people, monkeys, robots, birds, tentacle monsters, fungi and energy beings plus common humans. You end getting every audience but very hard sci fi people.
Also, theres no good erp server around?
>>597011
Starbound was 1 million times better as a free explore anything can happen even at day one adventure. And everything down to how hard a dungeon or boss is was up to the players.
>>598092
I think it's about personality and charm. Compared to Starbound, Terraria is a very bland game. It's a good game, sure, especially with friends, but it's not about the characters and the world so much as it is about mechanics.
And mechanics don't inspire fanart.
>>598204
There isn't.
>>599771
A shame. the game has such potential for so much...
I really wish the devs had any idea what they were doing. The game was almost complete when they released the first version of it with the AP system, which I felt was an elegant solution, then they just keep fucking it up worse from there.
This is all I got for image tax.
>>596594
Here it is.
Not enough female novakid

Methinks a major change in creative vision happened, and they decided that they MUST change the game to suit it, no matter the cost.

>>598301
This so much. I loved making a new character because you never knew what world you'd start out in. Sometimes Rng bit your ass and you started out on a planet with meteor showers. But that was part of the appeal.
They made so many stupid choices with starbound like being able to build everything on your ship so you had no reason to build bases on planets.
Not making races have any difference besides looks.
Guns using energy while also making tech use energy. As well as making guns damage pathetic.
Making every location react the same no matter your race besides flavor text
Making temperature, eating, and other things not matter
The list could go on and on and on.
>>603713
>an energy being that's basically a sentient star
>in a bathtub
How the fuck does that even work?
>>603990
Some of these are problems, like a character being fucked over because your starting planet has acid rain and meteor showers, and hunger is kind of just an anti-afk mechanic.
Temperature was great, though.
>>604020
Acid rain + meteor showers was not end of the world. And you only needed to grab a few coal to zip to a different one. Not spend a fucking day mining planet cores.
I'm glad I still have my old version of starbound with pony character mod I worked on enabled. I can't stand what they did to the game.
The game would have been a good game if they had never opened a forum and listened to what any users had to say.
No game makes me as salty as being ruined by its fans than starbound. Its the only game that I was hyped enough for, that I drew fan art of it for weeks or months before even getting to play it. And tried to work on mods for it.
>>604132
>Pony mods
You already own 90% of /trash/. Please, no pony talk in here.
>>604069
Ehh... Coal isn't fuel anymore, which makes sense. How the fuck is a spaceship going to be coal powered unless it's a novakid space train?
To say that coal being used to power spaceships makes sense is... Kind of like saying that you could survive on a single potato chip a week. There's typical sci-fi stuff, there's stretching logic, and then there's just throwing sense out the window.
>>604396
Well, of course. People ruin everything, people are the source of everyone's problems. We should ban people from everything, damn people!
I love me some hylotl.
I have surprisingly little starbound too...
>>604132
>The game would have been a good game if they had never opened a forum and listened to what any users had to say.
I don't know how good it would have ended up but this certainly changed it for the worse.
>>598301
Starbound was awful for exploring. Everything felt the same. Same strategy, same grinding and only a few surprises to keep you vaguely interested.
>>603514
They key word is 'almost'
>>619965
fuggoff
>>616120
yeah really this. I dont know how the fuck people praise starbounds exploration. there is not enough uniqueness for each planet. its just pallet swaps and race swaps. once youve seen every racial building and the extremely few types of unique planets, youre done with the game.
>>626790
Spoiler
Most of minecraft is recolored cubes and minecraft is praised for it exploration and adventure.
Every new terraria update is overflowing crafting with shitty FUCK STUPID ASS block and furniture recolors to the point you CAN'T FIND SHIT.
>>626831
Those games are trash too. What's your point?
They don't got any ayyys.
>>626831
I dont know why you brought up two other games when talking about starbound. Not everyone is a brand loyal retard
its an accepted fact that anyone who praises minecraft is an autistic retard/autistic child
terrarias crafting ui is pretty shit and could easily be improved
>>626831
Minecraft had the bonus of being not only more random, but having a fleshed out building option.
Terraria has the advantage of not only having more of a progression in difficulty, but many, many bosses with interesting design and an underground often large enough to keep you exploring for hours while still being interesting.
Starbound just has a big underground. Beyond that it's boring.
Terraria and Minecraft also get updates regularly which is a massive bonus
>>627572
>>626992
>>626831
>>626790
When I first heard about starbound, I thought i'd be able to pilot my ship around space manually, and actually chart out the system myself, and visit planets and asteroids and moon and all that shit. That alone would have added a bunch of depth to the game's exploration, and would have made it way more enjoyable. Imagine getting a group of friends together, making a radical fighter ship, and then establishing a trade route to create a spice empire between you and your friends?
Why the fuck does everyone just make shitty clones of each other and not good games?
>>628691
also, you can replace friends with your erp buddies and change spice empire with ayylamo harem. Either one can work.
>>603993
I think it may be liquid nitrogen
>>626831
minecraft has
1) a focus on building
>starbound has this, but has only recently begun focusing on it and there's way too wide of a diversity of items to make things easy
2) simplicity of design(up until recently because mojang is fucking retarded, now so more because of microsoft)
>see point 1 and the huge procedural world does nothing but cause unnecessary complexity and make it difficult to do anything except fly around and explore
3) a gigantic modding community that constantly pumps out content to make the game play however you want
>starbound has this to a certain degree, but there's very few mods that actually influence gameplay, most are just cosmetic additions
terraria has
1) fun combat and unique bosses that are enjoyable to kill, difficulty scales based on playercount
>starbound combat SHOULD be better, but the random weapons are retarded and the system falls through the floor in multiplayer due to shitty netcode
>monsters have very little variety and are either grounded chargers you can cheese or flying little shits
>bosses are all awful and have retarded hitboxes
2) loads of loot and cool accessories you can mix and match
>randomization makes this impossible, there are some accessories but they're cut and dry
3) a progression system with clear guidelines instead of being left up to randomly generated bullshit
>starbound's progression system has had to be reworked countless times and it's still garbage
go away tiy, your game isn't good
If only there was more novakid women porn
>>626946
terraria has ayys now
it also has lizerds, harpies, lamias, and a shitload of other sexualizable and pre-sexualized monsters
in fact it's far better for that than starbound
hell, one of the lead developers was a furry, although he did get kicked out for being an utter retard
As somebody that hasn't played Starbound since January of 2014, what'd they change that made everybody pissed off?
>>602194
Man I would love to make those ape girls go ook ook
>>593454
>tfw you recognize this character from your Starbound RP server
Since I'm not really contributing by just saying that:
The character's name is Blossom
The owner is Tyree409 (on furaffinity)
The artist is IceFlux
I know he's commissioned more
Oh, and the server is Galaxy Citizen.
>>629408
Everyone starts on the same boring planet.
You have to spend a whole day in real life grinding to fix the ship to leave the boring planet.
They removed the bosses and your ability to change the terrain to give yourself an edge in the fights. No you have to fight in dungeons where you can't change anything.
They gutted the survival mechanics. Food, air, temperature. All gutted.
Everything that made the game great was gutted for the casuals and the exploit complainers.
>>632677
Intentional disinfo? Or are you just not up to date?
>Everyone starts on the same boring planet.
Not any more, they fixed that the version before the last one I think. Starting planet is random again, although the planet you start on is always safe and predictable, thus boring.
>You have to spend a whole day in real life grinding to fix the ship to leave the boring planet.
Or you can Not Suck and stop being so casual, and do it in less than an hour.
>They removed the bosses and your ability to change the terrain to give yourself an edge in the fights.
They actually added bosses, there's far more of them now than there used to be. The skeleton dragon isn't used in the current build, and the robot has undergone some quite drastic changes, but there's a giant spider, the Erchius horror, and the old slime and UFO are still around.
You're correct that you can no longer cheese the battles by building terrain over them though, now you have to actually fight them fairly. Sucks if you're a casual or an exploiter I guess.
>They gutted the survival mechanics. Food, air, temperature. All gutted.
Yup. And nerfed healing and survivability to balance it out. Air is still there until you get the most basic upgrades, swimming is only really a factor on the first system. Horrible decision IMO, but they said they intend to re-implement the features.
>Everything that made the game great was gutted for the casuals and the exploit complainers.
Casuals and exploiters are generally speaking one and the same, casuals who can't play the game properly resort to exploits in order to progress, they've actually gone to great lengths to prevent that kind of behavior. Another thing that's been done to punish casuals is that you can't drill down to the core, mine until you're bored and/or fall in lava, quit to main menu and spawn on your ship, now you respawn where you left off so you actually have to survive the trip back to the surface.
Oh hey not-/sbg/, you played the nightlies recently? New crafting system is... interesting? Lots more options and potential at least. I appreciate being able to make bamboo and thatch blocks. Scanning items to add them to the printer is way better than stealing them too.
You interested in mods and sprites?
>>645216
I do spritework in my spare time, mostly custom guns and furniture/signs.
I might post images of my character (and maybe some related stuff) if I somehow get sufficiently bored. It's not lewd, though.
>>645382
I found a genitals mod over at Furaffinity, it still works with the latest version of Starbound
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16410674/
https://www.dropbox.com/s/emvh4lhfk7jwujt/kazdra_genitals_V111.7z?dl=0
Are there any other nsfw mods out there, other than the ones on Nexus? I've looked on tumblr and Google but cant find much, if anything
>>632952
The temperature mechanics were cool. Being a low level scrub without good clothes (I didnt knew about the winter outfit at the time) and trying to mine ore into a snow planet with high level monsters.... Doing all the work underground to not be one hit killed and burning my resources in firepits, good times.
>>645382
I would like to see some, I love pixel art.
>>646445
Other than the one that was posted over you, I dont think so, or they are hidden and outdated. But its not fun having lewd mods and no one to share in my opinion.
Make sure to keep the thread up
In the mean time, I'm gonna sleep
