I have both binding of Isaac and our darker purpose. I like ODP a ton more. My Isaac lags like crazy and worse has control input lag during bosses. Each Isaac run is 100% RNG, but ODP you can unlock lessons you can use each run to make it easier to accomplish certain things.
You also have levels and at each level up you get a choice of two perks. Some perks are very powerful. The game has achievements and rewards you for every one you complete either with new in game items, additional lessons, new lesson types, or money. Each achievement has lore you can read about in game.

There is also coins and unlike isaac's random gambling you can see what is in each machine and how much. ODP is more about skill and planning while Isaac is rng luck.
>>
>>447849
ODP also lets you move in any direction while firing in any direction independently. While OPD has no bombs some enemies and E active items can break objects. You have chalk as a kind of emergency bomb that makes 3 chalk clouds and projectiles can't go through it.

You character can also roll and later if you unlock it, rolling is replaced by teleporting.

ODP has a good sound track too.

>>

Expert Mode (which is the actual name) gives you the chance to access some crazy items, although the challenge is greater, too (like I said before).
It also gives you the chance of getting the devs' special items (Red's Wings got nerfed, though...)
Regarding the 6th accessory slot... You don't get it before Hardmode unless you InvEdit. You get it as a drop from WoF in that mode only.
>>
>>453393

Eh? Thats an odd choice. They always made those items kill or whatever anyone else that wears them.

Why don't they just go ahead and call it Rust 2.0 .They are obviously copying it in every way.

Lisa and Darkest Dungeon (just downloaded the Abomination update, I hope he's fun.)

Finished Lisa pretty recently. Is there anywhere that has the script for the game? I want to see what the various party members say when they betray you at the end of the game.

I'd love to see a full script, but I haven't found it yet. For the end-of-game betrayal, there's this:

http://lisa-rpg.wikia.com/wiki/Possible_Companions

It's rough, but at least they preserved the spelling errors and the ellipses.
>>
>>455357

I've just being taking various party members to the ending myself, to see who betrays you just because they wanted to fuck Buddy, and who betrays you for some nobler reasons. Also, to see what they say if you give up your arm for them in the first Buzzo encounter.

Terry is a true bro. If you sacrifice his arm for him, he is visibly shaken by the experience, and says you're a "true friend." When he betrays you, he admits he felt like a "total loser" before he met you and felt like adventuring by your side made him into a real man.

But thanks for the link, you spared me a lot of trouble. Might start a new game so I can transcribed what the party members say when you give your arm up for them.

It was real fun, but I still gotta beat the Joyful and find a drawthread to ask for Buddy porn in.

Good luck to you on the transcribing, and on The Joyful. Mad Dog was on the copping block for me, and all I got was "...". I wasn't expecting gratitude, but I was expecting something.

Requesting Buddy porn's a weird thing. She's a loli, and her Joyful/late Painful design is more popular for fanart, from what I've seen. You may have some luck in /b/ or the other Chan, and maybe /v/, if you luck out pretty hard.

One of my favorite things about the betrayal quotes is who implies that they want Buddy for themselves. Rage, RT, Clint, Garth (kind of)... and Jack. Of all the people, the post-apocalyptically socialized Jack has to imply that he wants to fuck Buddy, and that hits me a little hard. I guess I was expecting him to have been isolated from the whole horn-dog mentality, or maybe because he's surprisingly useful.

I think growing up in a culture like post-White Flash Olathe with it's hyper macho society, tendency for sexual deviancy, etc, and having your only female interaction being with porn magazines probably doesn't do wonders for a teenager's developing sexuality. But yeah, I was surprised by his betrayal because he seemed like one of the "nice" party members like Terry and Shocklord.

I started a new game for this update, so I haven't had a chance to test out how my old favorite team does against the new and improved monsters out there, but I liked running Grave Robber/Occultist/Man-At-Arms/Crusader.
Grave Robber basically spams lunge, while Crusader and MaA use move-forward attacks to bring her back to the rear so she can use lunge even more. Occultist and Crusader take care of healing.
>>
>>471505
Of course I don't do dark runs. Day runs of level 3 dungeons are still hard.
>>
>>474278
Lost 1 person yesterday.

Team was occut, hound, crusader, man at arms. Man was at deaths door but I was going to heal him. Didn't want to give him bleeding by accident so I used occult push. Then after that move man just died instantly making me go wtf.
>>
Spend hours getting a new group to level 2 for the boss fights. After 1 fucking fight some always level to level 3. Theres no level 3 bosses on the map.

Getting tired of your shit game.
>>
>>474326
It's always good to heal with the occultist anyway, because you have a low chance of getting a 0 heal and a bleed. All you need is one health to get him off Death's Door.

>>474795
What length are the dungeons you're playing? Go for short and easy ones to minimize the experience gain.

Anyone else not so excited about the new mechanics from this update? I really like the Abomination cuz he's like a super Leper, but holy fuck, they're killing different strats with these changes. I mean, it makes sense to limit the food some guys take into a dungeon because you have an entire hamlet to feed too, but these fucks willingly go into there to plunder the gold and gems to fund it in the first place.

Also, stress is weird now. Heart attacks are a little better.
>>
>>475023
Mostly it only gives me medium and long dungeons to pick from. I just finished a long level 3 cove with level 3 adventures.

Was a pain but won it. My guys came out with high hp and all at 0 stress. Party was occult, hound (I know bleed is bad on fish dudes), and two crusaders.

I'll kind of be glad when the hamlet is fully upgraded so I can stop collecting heirlooms over treasure.

3 of them became my first level 4 adventurers
>>
Collector ruined my run right at the start. Bosses in this game are always such ass. Its like the idea that killing minions they summon and getting a turn of relief never occurred to red hook. I've beaten the collector before on rank 1 dungeon but seriously this rank 3 version? His minions had 50-75% protect and guard him/heal him while also bleeding you. Even if you kill one or all 3 next turn he resummons them all. Being that this was warren I didn't bring a blight character.

Like with the old hag boss too. You can waste 3 hero turns breaking her pot but she just does it again next move and still gets her attack right after anyway.

The only boss so far I felt like you got ahead killing his minions was the necro. Because he only spawned one at a time and didn't get extra turns.
>>
>>475920
I also had a man at arms giving my guys +24 dodge. And only maybe 2-3 enemy attacks missed in a 10 minute collector fight. I had to flee after each time I got him to 50 hp his things would guard him and his hp would go back to 90.

No way to win since no one had blight to stack on him.
>>
So should I make a plague doctor and try to overcome warrens monsters blight resist with +blight items? Or just hope I don't run into the collector again? Or maybe a hello bleeding. I haven't tried really leveling one of those up.

I'd rather not have another grave digger.
>>
Yet another darkest dungeon update.

"Man-at-Arms riposte is now 2 rounds "
>>
>>476091
Hellion and Highwayman both have decent bleed and function well in the front.

Why not have two Highwaymen in front and spam Point Blank Shot? It's high damage as all hell.

>>478520
Wasn't it just bumped to three?
>>
>>480708
The collector is always in row 4. If he's not he spawns troops until he is..
>>
>>480708
The consensus is that the highwayman is bad, a worse grave digger. The jester is the worst class.
>>
>>482254
And that the abomination with good trinkets is so OP it has to get a nerf.
>>
>>481720
Which is why you spam blight with a plague doctor and grave robber behind them. Or go double hellion.

>>482254
Grave robber seems to be cursed for me for some reason. Mine always die. My vestals also always get diseases after the expeditions too.
>>
>>486998
vestals

I think those are pretty bad.
>>
>>489507
They barely heal for more than crusaders. And the occultists attack hits two in the back row at the same time. That's usually where the stress monsters are. Plus he's fast.

Judgement misses a ton.
>>
>>489507
>>490027

You guys apply their healing trinkets? It bumps it up by like 60% or so at only like -10% health and damage. If you know you're gonna need someone that can throw down heals across the board and fast, vestals the way to go.

If you want occasional healing, the occultist. If you wanna mostly self sufficient team, then Arbalest, plague doctor, double crusaders.
>>
>>489507

It's funny because I've seen some posters complain that "vestals" are practically mandatory.

I prefer the occultist for my healing needs myself.

>>480708

For me, point blank diminished in usefulness when they introduced prot. Now there are tons of front row enemies who just absorb the shot easily unless you have a guy who can preposition the enemy team.

I've been curious about trying a point blank highwayman + stun fade grave robber + dodge guard houndmaster combo. HWM spams point blank, GR spams fade away to send her dodge though the roof, and houndmaster spams dodgeguard on the highwayman. I think dodging attacks is better than tanking them, since even if you cripple the enemies attack so they hit you for almost zero, they can still crit or spam stress attacks. But with dodge, you dodge the damage AND the stress.

I'll need to train my guys though. I pirated it (gonna wait for a sale), and for some reason, my old saves don't need to be compatible with the new versions.

Also, how are the new limits on provisions treating you. I used to always bring at least three stacks of food to a dungeon, so it's taking a bit of getting used to for me, since short dungeons only let you take a stack and a half.
>>
>>492173
Can we get more fan art too?

Honestly, point black isn't so much about the damage (but that helps a lot) and more so about the crit. It tends to have a high base crit, so spamming it over and over is gonna grind the high prot front liners after a round or two depending on how lucky you get. Plus, that ranged buckle and maybe a solar ring, with clean guns, could really cut through some motherfuckers. More so if you have an occultist or man at arms to bump their damage up during camp, or a plague doctor to embolden them.
>>
>>493699

I'll give to give that a try. I usually used Grave Robber as my crit spammer.

>>493699
>Can we get more fan art too?

Any particular character you're interested in?
>>
>>475920
I ran into another collector during a run in rank 3 but killed him. All he dropped was his shitty crystal. I beat up to the ruins boss the Lord necromancer. But since I have 0 rank 6 guys and only 2-3 rank 5 I'm leaving him alone.

I keep getting poor because my guys won't stop leveling too fucking fast. And each level they need new upgrades. I've had to let fine characters go just because I need level 2s to fucking to do early boss quests and everyone is 3-5 rank.

Much of my hamlet is near fully upgraded. The only vital upgrade I lack is the rank 5 armor/weapon.

I battled the rank 3 boss where you put a torch in the shrine and he eats it. I had a highwayman on my team since I was using a group of 4 heros I didn't care if they died. He went crazy and 2 turns in a row on deaths door he refused the party heal. So when he died I said "You fucking deserved it dumbass". Wasn't really worth killing the boss desu he dropped ancestors map which is just + scouting.
>>
>>494054
Any of the heroes, really.

I always like to see crusader though.

>>501858
The map is really useful though. It outclasses the lantern because as far as I know, you can't be surprised by battles if you already know they're there. It also can help locating quest items.
>>
>>502248
I already nearly never get surprised and usually on purpose explore most of the dungeon for loot.
>>

>Hey whats this! Its see through ice in the snow biome. I see all the ores! Awesome!

>Why doesn't this ice drop anything?

>Later. Well I'm back at the ice and I feel like jumping.

>OMG what! I go right through it from near the top of the map and keep falling through the ice until ded.
>>

>>
>>503231

>>
In regular mode I always liked making my base in the terraria beach. Then every kill has a chance to drop the pirate map for an easy gold raid. If you in the beach the pirate raid itself should drop 2-3 maps for a cycle of endless raids.

But so far in challenge mode I haven't gotten past the corruption.
>>
How do you not get bored in terraria?
>>
>>504007
Start new game. Build house until you get a merchant move in. Buy net and make wood fishing pole.

Net some bait and then reach the ocean. Once there fish until you have reaver shark, sawfish, so on.

CONGRATS You just totally skipped terraria's early game because they threw early game straight under the truck for fucking fishing.
>>
>>505358
This. Don't forget tsunami in a bottle and the sailfish boots. Or the blowfish. And the falc0n sword you can get from the crates is 30+ damage and auto swing.

If you get that with any good +def mods it takes all challenge out. Plus crates are tons or gold and ore. The bombfish make unlocking the bomb merchant a breeze.

Another perk is that if you scout a trap, you can try to disarm it in order to avoid damage/debuffs and reduce stress. With a good scouter and trap-disarmer, all those annoying traps are suddenly free stress heals.

http://7daystodie.com/alpha-13-status-and-release-notes/

How’s it hanging Survivalists,
The team has been busting ass on Alpha 13 A.K.A. ‘Apocalypse Release’ and we’re getting very close. We have about 50 issues of importance left to fix so it could come out between Friday and Monday if things go well and additional showstoppers don’t rear their ugly zombie heads.

That being said we have had hundreds of requests for release notes to be published before the official release so you folks can digest the mass of information we have compiled for you. Unless you‘ve been living under a rock you’ve probably heard this is one big mother lode of content! In fact it’s got more features than any release we’ve ever done and internally we’re on build number 134 for A13 to give you an idea of the magnitude of this coming update. Folks this is by far the largest update to date and as Michael Buffer says “Let’s get ready to rumble!”

Stay cool, be patient and read on Chaka Khan!

Which there's also a fairly decent ancestor trinket for, can't remember which though. Bumps up trap disarm by 50%.

>>511050

The dodge one is pretty good when paired with the houndmaster spamming his dodgeguard ability.

I find that Grave Robber with her classes best trinket gives her enough trap disarm to reliably disarm practically any trap she comes across, so I haven't used the trap disarm trinket much.

>Also, when's full release again? January?
Yes, assuming nobody else on the team has a family member die in the meantime.

Even after full release, they will probably add more stuff to the game. If you open up the files, you can see "barks" (the little dialogue bubbles that pop up when the heroes say stuff) for a currently unimplemented "hobby" system.

Based on what lines we have for the MaA and Hwm, MaA actually does like to carve, and Hwm is an amateur poet.

>Man-At-Arms:
>"Leave me to reflect on the day's battles."
>"How did that one blow slip past my guard..? I must think..."
>"I learned to carve during the lulls of the Cyprian campaign."

>Highwayman:
>"... with the night for his throne?" Hmm... tricky."
>"... and he always came home?" ... No, no..."
>"... like a dog to a bone?" ... Still not right!"

Other hobby lines are here.
http://pastebin.com/syPn4zex

Incidentily, I think the "Cyprian campaign" is the only reference to a real world location in the game, so I think they might change that line when they finally implement the hobby system. Since in the game, we usually get fantasy analogues instead of real world things/locations ("the light" instead of god/Christianity, "desert kingdoms" instead of the middle east, etc.)

I went to the bottom of the antlion nest and there was a mineshaft. Down in the shaft the goblin tinker was there so I got the combine upgrade bench without having beaten a single boss.

I literally did the same thing, but then I realized the space gun has penetration and it's stupid useful in the dungeon. Might be worthy considering.

On the eye you want to burn it with a flare gun or fire arrows. The eye burns well.
>>
Also the skeletons deep underground who throw bones HURT 65-70 damage even with 20+ def.
>>
Bone javelins are pretty shit...I tried it against the eye. They do almost no damage.
>>
>>516269
The roman skeletons are even worse with the medusa. 90 damage and the medusa stun locks you if you get close.

But now my hp is 400, maybe its enough to beat the eye.

The eye is stupid easy honestly. Just strafe back and forth between the charges and if you got any jump boosting equipment, use them. Try building a series of wooden platforms going up to maybe 15 or 20 blocks and horizontally the same. It'll help you dodge better because they let you go up and down fast without hurting yourself.
>>
>>517888
The eye is easy but I'm not really trying to beat it. I've been trying to make an underground tunnel from my tundra home all the way across the map to the ocean. I'm almost there too. So I can start doing fishing quests.

I've also been searching my jungle for an anklet to make lighting boots. But every chest is glove or flare gun or something. I even found Tom but all he sold was a yo-yo accessory.

My world for some reason has 3 bee hives
>>
>>518136
Also when I do make an arena I'm making it outside the dungeon. Kill two birds with one stone.

Maybe if I put down enough mud it'll consider itself a jungle biome so I can use it on queen bee with her summon item.
>>
Oh man

I forgot. The rever shark you catch in the ocean can mine the dungeon brick.
>>
I want to grind the scuba gear and jellyfish amulet. But challenge mode made jellyfish frustrating as they can be to mass kill. They randomly go invincible for long periods of time.
>>
So the new darkest dungeon character will be the merchant. Not sure how they'll make him work. Obviously hes got to be a buffer/healer/stress or something since debuffs in this game are bad and why would a merchant be a front row attacker?

Maybe he'll throw bombs and hand out heal potions in batle.

Stuff I've learned about the merchant from reading what the devs have said:
>Female
>"silk road" aesthetic, so maybe she'll be Asian or another middle easterner like the occultist
>uses a firearm, not sure if pistol, rifle, or something else.
>combatwise, she'll be very weak, and the devs said taking her along would be like an escort mission. I'm assuming she'll have some other benefit to make it worthwhile to take her along.
>>
>>520561
Guess they increase gold found or increase player carry inventory or even act as a shop.

No, however, people who gave enough shekels to the kickstarter will get an exclusive variant. I think the kickstarter donators will vote on one of three variants:

>Dark Knight
Basically an unholy version of the crusader

>Witch
Basically a female occultist

Variant of arbalist that uses a big gun instead of a big crossbow.

I heard that if enough of the kickstarter donators (who donated enough to get the variant) agree, they can let it be publicly available.

Speaking of future classes, what did you guys think about the abomination before it came out? I remembered shitposting about how it would wind up being a furry self-insert or that boomerang fag from Shovel Knight.

Turns out that the original concept actually was a werewolf, but the kickstarter guy thought a werewolf wouldn't find in with DD, so he went with a demon instead. I think the beast-mode abbo looks pretty good. At least he doesn't turn into a green kangaroo.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the Cyprus campaign. I think some of his dialogue mentions how he was the only survivor in his squad or something and because he failed to block a blow it cost a comrade their life.

The comic, from what I understand, involves the Man-at-Arms in a losing battle and him trying to extract a wounded buddy and retreat. Some warrior tries cutting him off, they exchange blows because he didn't defend against the stab. He's then too wounded to reach the retreat flag and gets targeted by the cannon again. He survives, but the young guy with him is blown away.

Cue years of survival guilt and self-loathing at his inability to protect his men, at which point he signs up to fight for the hamlet now that he doesn't have any buddies left.

This is all hypothetical of course.

I played it mostly to occupy time. It's a decent routine of "move, shoot, pick up OP weapon/combination, win", and it allows me to practice basic min-maxing strategies for similar twin-stick roguelikes.

Not gonna lie, though, as much as I liked the original Flash game when it came out, that game was coded like absolute shit even given the limitations of Flash. I can't count the amount of times I was going to wreck Sheol/The Cathedral only to be hard-locked out of it.

I have a hunch Merchant will come out in around 2-3 months. They're releasing those comic backstories for the heroes one week at a time, and used the abomination comic as a little bonus for the abbo update. I wouldn't be surprised if they released the merchant update at the same time as the merchant comic.

Also, I finished Lisa the Joyful. I already spoiled myself to the ending, but I was kind of interested in Buddy's interaction with the green sentai ranger. It seemed like she was interested in recruiting him until he told her he couldn't fight.

At first I thought it was pretty naive of Buddy to trust the green ranger like that, but I realized pretty much everyone who wanted to rape her was pretty upfront about it instead of trying to play the long-con.

But I thought it would have been cool if Buddy actually could recruit party members, but every once in a while, you would get woken up at camp to find one or more of them betraying you and Buddy and whatever remaining party members she'd have would have to fight them off without receiving the campfire's full heal (because they were interrupted before getting a full night's sleep.)

>>

It's actually two games. The first game (Lisa the First) is a Yume Nikki clone staring Lisa and her attempt to escape her abusive father.

The second (Lisa the Painful) is a fairly standard RPG, but has a lot of different party members and status effects to work with as well as party members that can die permanently depending on your decisions or your bad luck. The story of this one is about Brad, Lisa's older brother. He lives in a land called Olathe, which has suffered a mysterious disaster that killed off their female population. However, Brad finds an abandoned female baby, and decides to take care of her as his daughter. Over ten years later, Brad comes home to find his home has been raided, and his daughter is nowhere to be found, so he goes on a quest to find her.

Anon is right about it being pretty edgy, although it a fair amount of lighthearted silliness too.

Honestly, when it comes to the edge of The Painful, it's all a matter of intent. Dingaling's trying to make you feel through juxtaposition, where a twisted fleshy monstrosity in a children's playground has a retarded looking smile despite how dangerous it is, or when one of the life-or-limb decisions comes right after a professional wrestling chapter where you team up with the Shockmaster and faceplant some Mad Max wrestlers to submission to the tune of the musician having a stroke in Fruity Loops. He lays the melodrama on a bit thick, especially near the end of The Painful and all through The Joyful, but the dark humor is where the game shines.

The Joyful has very little humor, and that's part of the reason why people (myself included) don't like it too much. Dingaling shouldn't write universally seriously, it brings down the quality of his work as a whole. It makes you feel by trying to tear the feelings from your very chest, and that's a little cheap.

My fail dungeons of dredmor build is

Throw mastery
Shield
Master of arms
Perception
Smithing
Big Game Hunter
Killer vegan

Without alchemy or tinker I can't make most throw weapons.....Without tinker I also can't craft the best armors. Vegan and big game hunter both give exp bonuses when killing monsters.

I'm level 17 with maxed Smithing, Perception, big game Hunter. A few points into vegan and throwing. I haven't used a single krong anvil but I'm tempted to try until I get something with +tinkering. I have enough +trap items plus the bonus from smith + perception to disable and pick up most traps still.

I haven't put a single point into shield or master at arms. The difficulty is going rogue. My plan was to be a lot of throw saws for dred, but I forgot you need tinker for that.

I have crazy amounts of loot from max perception, Like all the ingots when I'm already wearing the best armor that I can craft.

The mechanics of LISA are pretty straightforward: it's a 2D RPG Maker game with echoes of Earthbound. You essentially spend your time wandering, trying to find the right way to go, and you keep fighting the right people and fixing the right bridges until you hit endgame.

Fights are 90% non-repeatable fixed encounters, with the remaining 10% being weak random encounters and one late-game grinding opportunity. You can hire about 30 party members, all with some form of viability in combat, but they're also at risk of both permadeath moves by bosses and sacrifices (more on that later). Combat itself is status-effect heavy, with an emphasis on balancing out offensive output with stacked status effects that can lock down encounters.

-The offense characters are straightforward in what they do: hit hard, hit quickly, and hit often. Elemental weakness doesn't factor in often, but when it does it breaks the game wide open. Some offensive characters use dial combos involving WASD in order to further increase their output, some have a handful of status effects that vary in usefulness.
-Support characters can't hit worth shit, but are integral to success in combat. You're expected to use statuses often: four of them (Fallen, Stun, Paralysis, Scared) prevent the enemy from acting, three (Weird, Wary, Oiled Up) leave an enemy vulnerable, and three more (Blind, Crying, Pissed) leave an enemy unable to reliably and effectively counter-attack. They can all potentially stack, and only some enemies can resist some statuses.
-Some characters are addicted to Joy, a fantasy drug that fully heals characters and gives them all-but-guaranteed critical hits, but acts as a major debuff to withdrawal sufferers. You can feed them the drug and make them effective in combat, or don't and expand the ending a little bit. The main character is addicted, but he and a handful of other addicts can still act through status effects and special attacks that Joy doesn't effect.
>>
>>608246

Joy Addiction can also go away after about 15-20 turns in combat, but it'll come back again after a while.

The only other curveball LISA throws is that it likes to be cheeky. You can easily walk off cliffs and get a Game Over if you're not wary, and you're occasionally plunged into situations where you can lose a party member or one of your main character's arms (debuffing him). Save points are common and won't send you back too far if you mess up, but Pain Mode acts as a hard mode by making them one-use. Pain Mode also alters some encounters, but not so much as to make them truly harder, just more permadeath-heavy.

I found enjoyment in wandering around and trying to figure out what to do next, but that's a very subjective form of entertainment. Think of it like edgier Undertale: there's a reason people go on about the story more than the gameplay, but that doesn't necessarily mean the gameplay is bad. It's kinda fun learning how each party member's abilities can sync up, but it's not necessary to vary up your party to succeed.
>>
>>608246
>>608309

Doesn't sound half bad, I just get anxious playing permadeath games because I like consistent rosters. As much as I love Darkest Dungeon, I get a bit stressed out when someone dies.

You might want to play on Normal mode then, the enemies don't use permadeath moves as much. As even if one of your guys do get whacked, you can still load up an old save. It might take some savescumming, but you can make it to the end of the game with all 30 of the available party members.

Dungeons of dredmor is a rouguelike with permadeath, 10-15 dungeon floors which are all randomly generated. Its a dungeon crawler where combat and every action you take moves the other creatures on the floor one turn. You are able to spam the passing of turns by pressing the space bar.

Characters aren't a class, but each game you pick 7 skill trees to define your character. There are warrior, rogue, and wizard skills. And you can pick any combination of 7 you want.

Some skills are even just about crafting new items like alchemy or finding more loot from monster kills like perception.

I liked Nuclear Throne, a 2d top down run and gun game where you control various monsters as they try to fight their way to the titular throne.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall was cool. You work as a mercenary in a world that's a mix of fantasy and futuristic. It's one of those isometric games like Fallout 1 and 2. I heard the game that came before (Shadowrun: Returns, I think) it kind of sucked. I played a bit of the sequel, but they added a new mechanic that's really annoying.

Shovel Knight is a fun platformer. You play as the titular knight on a quest to save his waifu.

Terraria is fun too. It's a bit like a 2d minecraft, but with ore emphasis on fighting monsters.

The Banner Saga is another isometric RPG, it's a bit like the Oregon Trail, but with Vikings. Needed more enemy variety though.

Expeditions: Conquistador was cool. You play as a Conquistador on a quest for gold from MesoAmerica. You can recruit a bunch of party members with different temperaments. Some of them will gain morale from you being nice, others gain morale from you acting like a total dick.

On a separate note what Indie games are you guys looking forward to? I'm looking forward to Cuphead, Expeditions: Vikings, and Shantae: Half Genie Hero. I heard Indivisible got funded, but I'm mainly only looking forward to the porn of Ajna.

The game has a really deep crafting system.

Alchemy is about crafting potions
Smithing is weapons/armor
Wand lore is crafting wands
Tinker is making traps, bolts and steampunk items

Throughout the dungeon there are book cases that have secret recipes.

Each crafting skill also has its own encrusting recipes and secret recipes. Encrusting is basically it upgrades items without making them new items. But each upgrade can make the item less stable.

This is what the skill trees look like ingame. Some have more skills than others. Like werediggle has a skill for every box. Each time you level you can +1 a skill. And get a stat bonus depending on if its wizard/warrior/rogue type.

Dungeons of dredmor has a lot of charm even down to its item and monster descriptions.

It has a communist skill branch, egyptian magic, banking, being a tourist, vampire, emo , steampunk knight with rocket punches and rocket jumps, a geologist who fights with rock skills, an archeologist, a math wizard, a magic lawyer, psychic, paranormal investigator, and so on.

The hardest part about picking 7 skills is what you miss out if you had picked something else.

Also some skills restrict what you can do.

Killer vegan makes animal type monsters not attack you ever. But if you melee an animal monster, eat meat, or eat dairy it gives you a 200 turn debuff that stacks. And the higher you unlock vegan the worse the debuff gets.

But theres another skill branch in the game that has a move that takes your debuffs off of you and puts them on target monster. Emo can remove any debuffs you have and puts an emo debuff on you that is no where near as bad as vegans.

And theres always synergies to figure out like one skill branch might have a real great attack with a huge downside and another branch might eliminate that downside.

Whole lot to learn and figure out. And if you do play it you really need all the expansions. Theres like 2 plus a free one.

Two skill branches list synergies right in the choice menu because they depend on them so heavily. Rogue scientist and clockwork knight.

If it doesn't lag like shit I might try the new binding of isaac. I have the old one but it lags like hell and isn't any fun.

The Fact is that scott is so bad at making rpg/adventure games that he was going to quit programing because everything went so bad. He made Fnaf because someone said how scary and lifeless his characters were.

Finds out hes good at making horror games.

Instead of making new lines of horror games like boogeyman he's going back to adventure games having learned nothing and just throwing in edgy horror characters.
>>
>>611855
It doesn't help that scott seems to think 2-4 months is all the time a game needs to be created and finished.

Even though I beat dredmor there still a harder boss. The wizard expansion adds a new realms and you can visit as many as you find codes for. Codes are scribbled into dungeon walls and you write them down in real life. If you so wanted you could play 50 characters and collect 50 level 5 codes. Then use all of them on a single character so they get extra loot and exp.

But, if you enter a wrong code...instead of saying its wrong the portal turns red. If you enter it you are taken to the hardest level with the strongest boss, Diggle Hell. In diggle hell, killler vegan's no animals attack you thing is disabled since every monster in diggle hell is an animal monster.

"We can't discuss it at this time as we haven't decided on the exact sinks we want to go with. There have been plenty of great suggestions. I just wanted to make sure people didn't expect it in that next update, as that would be a real bummer. We got other cool things for the update that I think many of you will appreciate. Like I said before, this update will consist mostly of quality of life features that have long been requested and some Champ level tuning as well as various tuning."

Nuclear Throne's pissing me off, but I can't stop going back to it. I can get to loop one consistently with guys like Steroids, Y.V., Crystal, and even Eyes, but Rebel and Rogue are giving me a hard time. I make stupid mistakes, overestimate my defensive capacity, and get fucked. I've been cocky with Rebel by spamming her active too much, but Rogue's been jinxing me hard.

Also, fuck the bug that makes portals spawn on detonated barrels. It wastes my time and annoyed me to no end when I was gunning for Plant's B-skin, at least before I remembered the Oasis skip.

I remade and got to level 10. I maxed tinkering and made a high power crossbow and weapon. But I'm not having fun. Games lost it's appeal now that I beat it.

Its not like Isaac or a lot of roguelikes where beating it or getting achievements adds new stuff to the dungeon or challenges.

The main difference each game besides your skills and what you can craft is the secret recipes you find. You have almost no chance to find all of them unless you are paranormal investigator.

I think Joyful would have been better if Buddy could recruit allies by promising them exclusive cunny privileges in exchange for helping her become Queen Warlord of Olathe. Buddy has a habit of speaking in self-serving manipulation, but she was either trying to recruit the Green Ranger or trying to goad him into a fight after he spilled spaghetti all over the place. I think that idea could work, though it'd be sacrificing the whole mask gimmick.

>Who is this midget with the skull mask walking in like she owns the place?
>Oh, she's the last girl on Olathe and we're talking to each other about how to destroy her untouched hymen she promised all of us. Care to join?

Also, I thought the Salvation Rangers had some sort of fighting ability, judging by Pink's party member status and Blue's Joy mutation. Is Green really that much worse in a fight than a middle-aged man child with a boomerang?
>>
>>641470

We've seen before that leaders like Rando and Buzzo can command obedience since their men didn't just try to rape Buddy as soon as they got a hold of her in Painful. It's especially impressive in Buzzo's case, since I would expect a bunch of joy addicts to be a pretty hard force to control, since we've seen how irrational and emotional the stuff mad Brad and Buddy. But even in Joyful where most guys have a rape-at-first-sight protocol, the guys with the Joy Masks in Green's house will leave Buddy alone simply because Buzzo told them to. So I wouldn't be too surprised if Buddy could do it, after she cut off a head or two to make sure her followers don't try to get cheeky. Or there could be allies that simply wouldn't be interested in Buddy (example: gay allies like Queen and Crisp.)

>Also, I thought the Salvation Rangers had some sort of fighting ability, judging by Pink's party member status and Blue's Joy mutation. Is Green really that much worse in a fight than a middle-aged man child with a boomerang?

The salvation army thing was just playfighting. It'd basically be like going to some LARP thing. Maybe one or two of the guys might know an actual thing about fighting, but I'm sure most of them don't.

Also, I think the joy mutation can probably turn the wimpiest person into a power house once they start to turn. Joyful is a lot harder without the use of joy, since despite the training Brad gave her, Buddy is still a little girl. I've never tried giving guys like Terry any joy though, so maybe I'm wrong about this theory. Can Terr Bear wreck shit after being given joy, or is he still a weakling?

I want to say Skullgirls, but I don't want to be the guy who defends the sanctity of a game's history and individual expression because the devs opted to remove a couple panty shots on their own.

Dungeon Souls, though I haven't played it, is the only other example I can think of where non-optional updates messed with a game more than it benefited it. It seemed like every update imbalanced the game further, and they didn't do anything about the awful sound design.

Still working on the old backlog, that sort of thing. If I start feeling saucy, I might pick up Downwell, since it seems like one of those portable games that transfers decently to PC.

The Our Darker Purpose soundtrack is nice and cheap, but I'm wondering if it's really worth it. It's good spooky music, but there's only so many opportunities to listen to spooky music.

Freeze to death x30 in a row after killing just 2 Zombies.

Finally get a game where by pure luck I don't die and empty a town out. But theres no firestation. I get in a car and drive to the next town.

Before I get there a red moon happens. Endless zombies spawn and kill me. I respawn inside a npc house and its still the red moon.

It's not a "Spike" game, it's a "Timmy" game. It's not about overcoming challenge and proving yourself, it's about enjoying a crazy experience.

You can find some combinations that are unexpectedly powerful or weird.
>>
Now I have a house in unturned and the custom car frame you can build anything on, including if you want to make a mobile home. Its pretty boring.

Kind of upset I played half a day to get the christmas unlocks and all I got was a single weapon cover. Its not even a christmas one.

I keep dying now because of the insane bleeding and it won't let me hotkey bandages. So by the time I finish off the zombie that hit me, find the bandages in the inventory and start applying them my character has died from the bleeding.

Its such bad artificial difficulty.

Comparing LISA discussion here to SA is entertaining, especially in the ongoing LP thread.

>weird pseudo-outrage to the crossroads between Buddy's nipple or your remaining party
>one guy talking about how Brad's only been mean and curt to Buddy at the point the LP's at and assuming all the Brad bashing is under-cooked arguments about perceived selfishness against "pedophiles" Rick and Sticky (spoilerless thread, no foreshadowing)
>another guy talking about the sexual undertones of Buddy getting her nipple cut off and suggesting her eye would be a better dismemberment choice (he's following the LP and supposedly hasn't seen anything beyond the last Buzzo scene, so he's not being cheeky and ironic about the suggestion)

It's like night and day, except with pornographic Buddy commissions on one end and transparently fake outrage on the other.

As for the LP, Terry was given up for a reason. The reason boiled down to "the last LISA LP on SA kept Terry, and I like to fuck with people", sure, but at least it wasn't totally misplaced hatred of a good character.
