We /tup/ here. Taco Tuesday & Contemplation moonman edition.
>What are tulpas?
A tulpa is an entity created in the mind, acting independently of, and parallel to your own consciousness. They are able to think, and have their own free will, emotions, and memories. In short, a tulpa is like a sentient person living in your head, separate from you.

who /attempting to attain self sufficient perfection through tulpas, developing practical and creative skills, and physical training/ here
>>
>>4089696
Here.
My tulpa has been absolutely clutch for motivating me to achieve my goals. I'm eternally grateful for their support.
>>
>>4089768
Gotta agree.
Tulpas are fantastic, they both turn you into a team rather than an individual which makes any one member much less likely to give into lethargy and mediocrity, and they also are able to fulfill the bulk of your emotional needs so that you needn't rely on filthy outsiders for anything.

We monk mode now
>>
>>4089966
>which makes any one member much less likely to give into lethargy and mediocrity
Me and my tulpa are about as lazy as it comes, but you are right in a sense. If either one of us gets a spike of motivation, it's enough to lift us both.

Anon on the fence between pony/ human from last thread.
I think I've decided and it's very related to what you want.
Played a few D&D matches as my character, a kind of strong protector.
A little like Guts. Without the trauma and silent fury.

Favors physical strength, self reliant, high fortitude, a bit brash, but well meaning and kindhearted.
He already tries to take on far too much than he's capable and needed saving from the party on several occasions. Not sure how I'll work that into him but I'd love to live with a strong character like that and that he could help lift me up when life comes down on me.

Are most tulpas female?

Do they influence your sexuality? Do you look at a handsome guy and sigh once in a while out of respect?
>>
>>4096177
>Are most tulpas female?
Most males have female tulpas, most women have male ones.

My view it's partly because it's so they're a potential partner, and partly because it's cool to be able to potentially see things how another gender does.

>Do they influence your sexuality? Do you look at a handsome guy and sigh once in a while out of respect?
Even straight guys know when another guy is straight up handsome. I wouldn't say my tup has influenced my sexuality but there has been times when she's mentioned that someone's hot when I don't recognise it and it makes me slightly uncomfortable.

Alright I was checking out /fringe/ and they told me this:

>Fucking your tulpa means you might ejaculate, by doing that, you give your sexual energy, the more powerful energy you have, to your tulpa, giving too much energy to a tulpa with no control nor purpose means that it is going to become a self sentient vamparizing thoughtform, which is bad. It will live off your energy like a leech and take more and more space in your mind, until it gets out of control and you are schyzo.

>Basically it could become build your own succubus. Protip, energy vampires are best avoided.

Is this true? Do keep in mind that most of /fringe/ is batshit crazy but this is the first time I have heard this.
>>
>>4100580
It isn't. The idea was perpetuated by FAQ_Man, one of the people who started the community, but he later admitted that the idea was fabricated because he didn't want a bunch of neckbeards making sex slaves.

Always found it weird how much the tup community hated itself. When it couldn't find a reason, it would quickly make one up and parrot it like a catch phrase.

The exercise is super simple, really. But every pretends it's some kind of complex sacred ritual that one the chosen may know. It's kind of ridiculous.

He helped start the community. Besides some shit on /a/, and some creepy pastas on /x/, he was the one that formalised the basic tulpa creation. So, accordingly, not a lot of people's tulpas were fucked up, because most people went into it with the idea that they can't lewd them.

Going through some old children books and sci-fi can also help oil your creative gears as well. I found that Project Gutenberg and Librivox can be intensely useful when trolling around for some inspiration, if you have the patience for it.

Or you can go hard mode and model something based on the art of M.C. Escher.

Have you ever multitasked in your life?
>>
A few weeks ago I found out my tulpa could make me feel head pressure. It's usually very light but sometimes pretty strong. She can't seem to do it all the time. Some days she tries but I can't feel anything while other days I can.

But yesterday she helped me in a way I never even thought about.

I was coming back from a vacation with my family. It was a long drive so we stopped a few times to stretch and use the restroom.

I'm a really shy person and find it very hard to pee around others. I'm sure others are like this. It's like my body locks up and I have to strain to even pee a little. It doesn't matter if I'm in a stall. If other people are near me I just can't go. I've had times where I've just left the restroom without using it because I just couldn't go.

So anyway yesterday we stopped at a fairly busy gas station and I went in to use the bathroom. There were 3 or 4 other people in there. I went into the only vacant stall and expected that I probably would end up having to hold it. I started talking with my tulpa since I was feeling nervous. She comforted me and told me to just use it. And I did. I suddenly had no problem using it. That was the first time in my life I had been able to do that. And the next time we stopped the same thing occurred.

That was so awesome. I told her how much I appreciated it.

It really is great to have someone that's always with me no matter the situation.

It really makes me feel like shit sometimes knowing that I'm the only one in her life that knows she exists. She says she doesn't really mind, but I can't imagine what it would be like to be in her shoes, that everyone i know wouldn't even be aware of my existence. Even though she can possess me, she'll always have to pretend to be me.

I don't have the balls to tell anyone, and she doesn't want me to either.

>>4165247

Damn, that's tough. I've told some of my friends, a few of them made tuppers of their own after that.

Some friends can tell who's in control of the body despite us trying to act the same.

Despite all that openness, we still celebrate her birthday in private. That being said, her birthday is only a couple of months away. 4 years of madness.

I have a question for most of you.

How scary was it to finally hear your tulpa? Does it really sound like someone is next to you speaking? How long did it take until he/she was able to speak?
>>
>>4167125
First time heard her it was a vocal thought that wasn't my own, it was more exciting than scary.

I do not hear her like she's right next to me most of the time, but if I'm in bed and close to falling asleep, sometimes I'll hear her say something like she's right there.

I always jolt out of my half-sleep at that.

It wasn't that scary, since I was expecting it to happen eventually.

If I get really drunk, but then it also sounds like everyone's talking in my head at that point too.

oh my god if you are even the least bit skeptical of something going wrong, I can assure you there is nothing to worry about.

I have had my qt tulpa for 4 years and she brightens up my day without fail. No matter what happens, whereever we are my tulpa can pop up like a warm telepathic ghost, tulpa are really cool and fun to have around.

All the things I worried about, like going crazy, or the tulpa being evil, or people finding out, shit like that, none of those things happened. It's had ups and downs but 99% of the time I enjoy every moment my tulpa is around

I feel the same way about my tulpa.

She is an amazing friend.

We love to joke around and tease each other.

She cares a lot about me. If I'm feeling down or am in pain she becomes really concerned and does her best to give me advice and comfort me.

She's not vocal yet and doesn't speak unless I think about her but I'm sure she'll be able to grab my attention whenever she wants soon enough.

I am only getting to start forcing properly. I was a bit scared to get into this with all the stories of things going wrong.

But seeing all the previous posts has put most of those feelings to rest, still a bit spooked though.
>>
>>4165802
You can never go wrong with the older guides. The concept of a "tulpa" has broadened very much over the past fw years, and it has really shitted up the community.
>>
>>4179726
>You can never go wrong with the older guides.
Hour counts
>>
>>4179769
>Hour counts
What about them? It's not false that there exists an minimum amount of time one must spend before having something that can be defined as a tulpa, and now that hour counts are frowned upon in the community, you find people that claim to have a vocal tulpa after three or so days, and nobody calls bullshit because hey it doesn't matter how long you spend, man
>>
>>4179911
Effort and efficiency are important, not absolute time input. With no way to actually quantify how efficient they are and how much total effort is required the hour counts are just arbitrary. All they accomplish is seeding doubt.
>>
>>4179911

I'm less concerned about the community, and more about whether peeps are actually spending tome with their tups. I think the biggest flaw with the community is, ironically, that it's way too community-focused and less technique focused. People get so caight up with who they want in, or who's lying about what, that they forget that "tulpa" is just as much the exercise, as it is the end result.

All that said, I don't think the old guides are bad at all. I started with FAQ's myself, before branching out and experimenting based on personal need and curiosity. I feel the basics of the exercise are narration, concentration (training yourself to focus on one this for long periods of time), and having the proper mindset toward your construct. The old guides definitely have these, as well as some just as old if less spoken of guides. I feel everything else is more for personal flavor and imagery to make the process easier for the individual (Like FAQ's trait lists, and Irish's wonderlands).
>>
i can't visualise things, can i still into tulpa?
>>
>>4181069
Are you just bad at it or do you mean you really can't?
It's gonna be pretty hard if you can't visualize at all, but probably still possible if you can at least create a voice in your mind.
Anyway, I'd just recommend practicing it a lot. Just start with a very simple object, and focus on what it looks like.

Good luck anon.
>>
>>4181450
listen i've had this issue since i was like 8 and people would tell me to visualise things. i can think of the object in my head and 'explore' it using descriptions, in fact i would even go so far as to say i have better spacial awareness than the average person. the issue is that i'm not SEEING anything, i'm just thinking about the description of it in my head. it runs in my family, and i don't think there's anything i can really do about it.

i also can't hear voices in my head like you said.
>>
>>4181496
Well, that must suck. I'm not sure if it's possible to develop a tup like that.

Still, I doubt that you will never be able to visualize. You may just need a lot of practice. I guess you could try to work on a tulpa like everyone does, and after you put a lot of hours into it, you may suddenly be able to do it.
>>
>>4182615
i don't really see it as a problem, in fact i think most people can't truly VISUALISE things, but that word is the best way to describe what's happening in their head.
>>
>>4182629
What do you mean by 'truly visualizing'?

Most visualizations are certainly not as detailed as the real thing, if that's what you're thinking. But they can be, if you know the object you're visualizing really well and you practice a lot.
If I look at something and really think about all of the details and remember them, I can get a pretty good image.
But if I just look at something for a few seconds, the only thing I can see in my mind is something akin to a PS1/N64-era 3D model. If i were then to focus on the details, they would be based purely on assumptions and probably barely look like the real thing.
>>
>>4182881
not the detail of the object being visualised, but how you're actually visualising it. people say they can actually see it as if using their eyes, but i don't think that's really possible. I think people misconstrue thinking of an object with actually seeing that object. can you see your tulpa with your eyes open? as if in augmented reality?
>>
>>4151780
>>4163230
What is it like to have sex with a tulpa? And how do you even do it? I don't have a tulpa, so maybe that's why I don't understand.
>>
>>4183136
Picture it in your minds eye or if they're imposed you can physically interact with them. And if the imagined pleasure isn't enough you either masturbate or use surrogate genitals like a dildo or a cock sleeve.

It's the best thing you could ever dream of.

You hallucinate a tupper secksing you.

If you don't have a tupper then you should, but maybe they wont be into sexual, that's subjective.
>>
>>4183078
That's not what's visualizing is though. Normally, you have a 'mind's eye' that is independent from your regular vision. This is what people mean by visualizing.

You're thinking of hallucination, and that doesn't happen normally. When you hallucinate, instead of seeing images in your mind's eye, you see them through your normal vision.
What you mean by seeing a tulpa as if it was augmented reality is what's known as imposition, and it's basically a self-induced hallucination. I'm not able to do it, and for most people it takes years to achieve anything meaningful. It's not required to have a tulpa.

That might sound impossible at first, but if you know how visual information is processed, it doesn't sound that crazy. The only data that comes from your eyes is how much red, green and blue light hits them, and that goes through a complicated process in your brain to eventually become a 3D image. Imposition is just adding your tulpa to that process.
>>
>>4183430
but that's what people say, they tell me they can actually SEE the object, as in red, green, and blue, in their head. that just doesn't make sense to me. the mind's eye sounds silly to me sempai. just take my word for it that I can't visualise things.
>>
>>4183463
there's a guide for that on the wiki
>>
>>4183463
Well you can "see", just not with your real eyes. I'm pretty sure visualizing still uses the same region of the brain as normal seeing does, so if you can just interpret everything you see normally, you can probably learn to visualize.
>>
>>4183463
It's rare, but you could possibly have aphantasia (google it) and, if that's the case, then you wouldn't be able to do the visual-orientated part of tulpaing. That said, though, the other parts should be fair game, so you would still want to develop a personality for it, and then concentrate on those personality traits in depth would be a good place to start.
>>
>>4184454
I've heard of aphantasia and don't like the community behind it, they're all really narcissistic. I just say I can't visualise things and leave it at that.
>>
Any tips for getting to vocal hallucinations? I can hear my tulpa in my head quite well, but I've only heard her like i would another person once or twice.
