It depends on the situation and how seriously Big takes it. The fact that Nick got to speak like he was or even see Big is kind of a big deal - mob bosses are pretty heavily protected and it's a high thing to get to see them face to face (At least from what I've read, more modern mobs can be a bit different)
It's possible they go way back, and that there's a bit of a familiar 'Don't make me do this, friend' thing.
As far as the mob goes the way it was handled wasn't super 'on point' with how it'd be but the rating would have had to take a spike for it to be legit. I have a looot of ideas of the backstory of Mr. Big and Nick to lead them there @_@ Love the mob.
