Your picture gives me an idea about a Weirdbox Story. A shady russian-mafia style guy running a high prices Fluffy rape fetish ring. Told from the perspective of a pink and blonde Show-Fluffy. She gets kidnapped right after one of the Fluffy pedigree shows. Some abuse and sadbox unfolds and after 3 Chapters she ends up with a slit throat dropped off at a Gas station.
Her Character could be similar to Laura from FractalFluff's maisieverse or Pearl from iasche's pretty thing (Same stubbornness and entitlement).
Side characters could include a seasoned (8 year old) whoremistress/bordello queen that shows the protagonist the ropes. Some weirdo customer (think Chris Pine as Karos in Strech) with lots of cocaine and buttplugs. And obviously the russian-mafia style guy being a mixture of a pimp and heist-robber, stealing high price show Fluffies to sell them to weirdos.
Just need to come up with some weird/creepy way that smile was "made" and bam! Instant Weirdbox.

It's called "Fluffy abuse". Its a set of memes created by weirdos on the Internet in the wake of MLP's golden years. But it long lost it's ties to MLP.
It features the life and death of so called "Fluffies" a bio engineered toy from the Future. The fandom is small yet very diverse and lacks a fixed head canon. People can never fully agree with each other what Fluffies should be about, but a set of "schools" emerge:
Hugbox: Fluffies often have infant like qualities. From their looks, with stubby legs, big eyes and Fluffy fur to their slurred baby-babble speech they are first and foremost cute. Hugbox is often overlooked, but an integral part of Fluffy fandom.
Abusebox: Fluffies are not animals, they are artificial toys. While having many qualities of real animals, there are many distinctions. They are also cheap and sold by the millions every year. Released in the wild they are considered an invasive species. Generally Fluffies that are not somebodies favorite pet are met with open hostility. Writers and artists revel in the myriad ways of putting a Fluffy down or using a variety of corporal punishment to make them behave.
Most stuff will be abuse and most threads will be full of abuse. It's the most fascinating facet of Fluffy fandom. But its also a technicolor carnage beyond anybodies standards of reason, justice or compassion.
Not all of it is high quality, much of it is a 12 year old's power trip on paper. There is justified and unjustified abuse, each with their own following, and despising each other.
Sadbox: Fluffes don't have it easy. Being on the receiving end of abusebox will make you sad. You enjoy a nice sob-story about a poor little ball of Fluff, having her babies taken away? Sadbox is for you. Can be as bloody as the best abuse story, but can be as simple as a clear december day.
Weirdbox: Anything goes, shoot Fluffies to mars, teach them French or plant them in the ground. Weirdbox has all the odd things about Fluffies combined

There's like, a one-in-three shot I get what I'm looking for in an abusebox or a sadbox post on the booru.
Usually abusebox is too simple, I don't really have a murderboner and just cutting fluffies up doesn't really "do" anything for me.
Sadbox is the opposite, it's trying too hard to make me feel bad for the toy sometimes.
Then there are stories that are juuust right. I particularly enjoy stories about feral foals being rejected as poopeh babbehs, or when mummahs are turned against their foals with some really basic psychology that fluffies are too dumb to not fall for.

Hm. Tricky. Fluffies are notoriously bad at parenting and quite stupid.
But how about the initial premise of depression.
Here is what I would do as the premise in a story:
You're Anon Anonsen and you decided to end your life. Luckily the government has recently legalized assisted suicide, as long as you can prove you're are sick enough to die. In your case the sickness would be depression. Very hard to prove.
For the next [Timeframe] you have to share living quarters in [Hospital isolation wing]/[your home]/[other] with a government appointed Medical Fluffy.
Things to implement could bet
1. You have to convince the Fluffy that you're better off dead.
2. You're not allowed to kill the Fluffy
3. Regular things you have to do for the Fluffy
4. You need to "work" and and care for the Fluffy
Pick what you like and add what you need.
Possible twists:
1. you're healed, but the Fluffy is stuck in a wan-die loop
2. The Fluffy helps you break out and jump from a bridge
3. Obvious hugbox is ovious
4. You turn into an abuser and dedicate your life to kill ferals
That's what I think is possible with the premise
