No one can say it didn't sell well due to "bad advertising." You can clearly see Miyamoto wanted to sell this game. It's sad that a developer has to say give it a second chance. That alone tells you the state SFZ is in. They shouldn't have listened to the loud minority of nostalgia fags who can't deal with change, just sitting there crying "reboot" and acting like one character "ruined" the series. Following the shadow of SF64 wasn't the answer to this series. Even if you removed motion controls, SFZ is still lackluster.
Does anyone remember when Hideki Kamiya wanted to develop Star Fox? The loud minority of nostalgia goggles spammed his twitter with "reboot." That shit resulted in Kamiya saying "Shut up, Star Fox idiots."

Except all those games at least tried to build upon a continuing narrative and expand the universe, and each one experimented with gameplay/genres to try and find a decent evolution for the future of Star Fox. Not to mention they were all handled by a third-party developer and had spotty supervision from Nintendo. Even if they were flawed, they came out better than they should have given their devlopment histories.
Zero, on the other hand, is unabashedly a retread of 64 with the only "innovative" feature being motion controls that were done much better in Splatoon. The fact that it was also done primarily in-house (Platinum only did artistic assets, no matter how much people say it was "their" game) and still flopped just shows you that Nintendo themselves don't know how to treat the series properly.

It's Miyamoto/Nintendo. It should be obvious to everyone by now that they don't care enough about the series to make one complete GOOD game like they do with the Mario & Zelda series. Hell Smash 4 has more polish and effort put into it. Every single Star Fox game after 64 has felt like an afterthought. If it's not Assault and its multiplayer, it's Adventures and Dinosaur Planet.
I mean fans care more about the fan animation than they do for the latest game and I think that's because someone put their all into making it and it immediately shows.
Then you look at the games and the amount of effort they put into it also immediately shows.

Since that's out of the way does anybody know if the homebrew community for the wii-u has a mod out that disables the motion controls in Strafox Zero? Possibly also disabling that terrible fucking cinematic camera that forces you to play the game like an RC plane. Having played through the game, I'm almost certain that Not only could the entire thing be beaten without them but it would be easier to play without them. The only problem I could see is aiming up or down for the landmaster and walker but with some remapping of controls or just leaving y-axis motion-controls enabled for only landmaster in tank form and walker walking (maybe also for the helicopter) could work as well but even just disabling the x-axis while aiming would be a vast improvement.
After talking to some people last night I remembered modding Mario-kart wii and Brawl back in the day, so I'm pretty sure shit like that is still possible with enough determination. I just want to know if it's been done already.

The fact that it's based on the SF64 arc is one of the downsides to SFZ, next to the motion controls. If they did this instead:
~ Motion controls (optional)
~ Continue the story where Assault left off. Forget Command. Improve upon what Assault did.
~ Add Miyu & Fay, other new characters. Villains & allies.
~ Add an online multiplayer vs mode. (dogfights)
~ Add depth/background to all the characters. Not just have them spout one-liners.
you're have something better than what SFZ turned out. It's backwards as fuck when someone says Krystal needs more development, but their totally okay by the other characters. Peppy has an unexplored backstory (like Krystal) since he's one of the original members of Star Fox, yet people just wanna see him as that rabbit that tells you to "do a barrel roll." Nintendo even pandered to these memers seeing how Peppy has his own level where he can repeat that line as many times as you want. They even had Falco say "Personally, I prefer the air."
