One possible item you can get from the Giant Omelette is a Rotten Omelette (Which looks just like a Cheese Omelette.) which can give a pet who eats it the Ugga Ugga disease, making it more common than a lot of other diseases.
Similarly, the Apple Bobbing daily can give Blurred Vision.
I imagine those dailies being potent disease sources make the items pricier.
It may also affect the price that a pet can only have one disease at a time, and new diseases overwrite the old ones, so MAYBE that plus user foolishness ("My pet's already sick, no way it'll get Ugga Ugga from this Rotten Omelette!") makes it more expensive?

Once upon a time Ice Boris were given out to everyone who downloaded some shitty toolbar. They were fucking everywhere. I know it's a weird thought now that they're rare, but at the time, the site was flooded with fucking Ice Boris. I had one but got so sick of seeing them everywhere that I pounded it within a week. Well, you can exchange Dubloons at the Dubloon-o-matic to get ones of higher denominations. Ex: Trade 2 5 Dubloon coins for 1 10 ones.
But it can't split dubloons into lower denominations.
There's a Petpet Shop on Krawk Island that only uses Dubloons, but IIRC, the prices there are pretty consistent, so profit's unlikely.
You can save up and hope that Smuggler's Cove gets something new.
The last item, released on September 11th, 2014 was the excellent Battledome Item, the Maractite Bomb (What a time for that! IIRC, TNT said it was pure coincidence.), which still sells for millions among users.
It cost 250 dubloons, and of course, was in limited quantities.
Lastly, you can gamble with your Dubloons. Sort of.

I recommend checking out the guide and the item prices. Every Golden Dubloon food is gourmet, and valuable.
You can of course, use them to train pets, but only ones level 40 and under, at the Swashbuckling Academy. Mind you, unlike the Mystery Island Training School, you can only train Endurance to twice (Instead of thrice.) your level, and training is a lot slower.
But, you'll always know what you'll have to pay, and have the option to cancel courses.
Lastly, of course, you can always just try selling your dubloons.
