I would say a 7 out of 10. There fucking insane but i really dont see otherkin spaming there beliefs on 4chan. I cant say the same for the other social websites though. Cause this is really the only place i spend time on.

Bad? It ranges from wherever you'd put furries to 10/10. I know a couple otherkin who are well aware that it's not a normal thing and that they shouldn't demand or expect people to know or care about their issues. I've also known OF otherkin who bitch about how they're not treated closer to their kintype.
It's a pretty neat quirk, and the ones I know seem to have better spatial awareness than others, and seem more sensitive to small inputs at places (a dragonkin friend of mine can tell with his eyes closed if someone walked on where he "feels" his tail is, but can also tell if they stepped over it instead of on it; he's pretty attentive to air currents as well).

I feel like it would be interesting to talk to such people, but I also don't think it would be worth wading through the cesspool to get to the 3 or 4 not-totally-batshit ones.
So it's a delusion, but I don't see it being particularly harmful. They just rant on their blogs about how people don't appreciate that they're a turtle. I wonder how many of these 'otherkin' are just going through a phase they'll regret later. I know a dragonkin - considering I had no idea until he told me (I just thought he was a scaly) and has his own place, a decent job, a car, all that, I can't exactly call him batshit crazy. Just seemed to be another human that is somewhat into fur/scaly stuff at a relatively healthy level.
He knows he's not actually a dragon, just has a spiritual connection as a dragon - Sometimes even says he hates that fact but can't deny it's his identity. Hates furries too but more for all the drama than what they are.
Considering I've only met him as an otherkin in person and he seems pretty cool I know not all otherkin are worthy of cleansing - Just most of the ones that post the extreme stuff online and make it seem that bad to people. I've met way worse furries in person than I have otherkin, although it wouldn't surprise me if some of said furries are that kind of otherkin the way they act.
TL;DR: Seem more retarded than other groups from the outside but are basically the same as other groups - Some alright, some outright rejects.

Then he isn't otherkin. That is more of a spirit animal thing. This is perfectly normal and has been aspect of many human cultures since antiquity.
Otherkin aren't necessarily insane but if they truly believe it then they are indeed dillusional. Even trans people are not actually the opposite sex, they have a mental disorder that makes them uncomfortable and transissioning helps them cope. In a nutshell, it's just therapy.
Even in cultures that have cyclical lives (hinduism) you may have been a cow in a past life but you are not considered a cow in a human body. You are now a human.

When I was a teenager I has friends who believed they were otherkin. Some of them were cool, they just had a belief that was fucking weird. But I also found religious people's belief systems fucking weird. As long as no one is being an aggro douchebag about it, might as well let them think what they want. Most of them grew out.
